Geo3,

Thanks, yes, that's the info I was looking for.

On paper, I would think that your new computer should be around 3x faster running Solver... certainly not slower.

Could you please tell me some info from the "About SnG Solver" dialog? (Its under "Help" on the menu bar). Could you tell me the build number (next to the version) and also whats listed in the System Information section for "Physical/Logical CPU cores" and "SSE4 support" for each of your systems. I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this.

Physical CPU Cores: 2
Logical CPU Cores: 4
SSE4 Support: 4.1, 4.2
CUDA Devices: 1
CUDA Compute Level: 2.1

PC (Win 8):
SNG Solver v1.0.10 (build 1310)
Physical CPU Cores: 4
Logical CPU Cores: 8
SSE4 Support: 4.1, 4.2

hello Jason,
have you had a chance to get solver working with hem2/carbon hands? my trial has long ago expired, and haven't heard anything from you regarding this?
thanks

any chance we can manually select a villains range in the future? I think this would be great. ex: start selecting individual hands rather than simply your percentage?

sometimes i think the push range includes to many small suited gappers over high cards like queen and jack highs, it is villain dependent so this would be a great feature

so i had to restore my pc to its original state. i took some security measures that I found in "computer tech help" forum, the stickies.

I am trying to download Solver again and my download just stops. It doesnt say it stops but it freezes. I can then "pause" and "start" but as big as file as solver is this would be super annoying, it seems to download for like one minute max, its really messed up and im not sure what could be causing this

I downloaded some other programs but not near the capacity as solver and they downloaded fine

ha - the goodies. I agree this would be a good feature for this exact reason.

Anyone having probems importing Merge hand histories. I hit paste after copying it, and a box comes up saying "paste hh"

This is after the reinstall of everything. My hm is still pry even messed up a bit, I have been working to permanently fix everything but I do not know what is totally going on. a lot of emails back and forth with HM. I installed the latest build of HM1 tho and i now have import working, tournament summaries are being written(which was a prob) and hud work, so i think im good there.

SNGsolver still can not paste a Merge hh for me though

4 future rounds if possible would be great, there are some spots that cries for it.

more important than more rounds is being able to customize a range

more important than rounds [and customizing ranges, imo] is having unrestricted ranges. we have been waiting for this for a long time and i think that it is necessary to have in order to compete on accuracy with holdemresources. i like your program and a lot of people do as well, but this is a fundamental issue that is causing inaccurate results and i dont think a lot of people are aware of that.

Hi Jason!

I am one of your first customers :-)

Can you please tell us little about your plans regarding the development of sngsolver?
What will the next update include and when will the update be out?

I fully understand that there is a lot of work involved and it's very advanced stuff but it feels like it was long ago something happened with sngsolver.

Regards, Jorgen.

Yeah it is pretty frustrating atm. Every post is promising an update super soon but it never comes! We still do not have FTP parsing, which is annoying, and we do not have any updates for nearly 6months!

Hey guys, I'm sorry for the lack of updates and info in this thread. Despite the public quietness, I have been very busy working on fixes and future features and my virtual sng simulator has been running 24/7 so that when you get something new, you will *know* that it works.

What you can expect in the near future is an update to version 1.0.12. This update contains a pretty extensive list of stuff including a major performance improvement, FTP and Winamax HH support, and a litany of other fixes and UI improvements.

What happened to 1.0.11? Well, a lot of people already have a beta version of 1.0.11... its likely that if you contacted me with a specific bug I may have sent you a beta update to 1.0.11 with a fix. Ordinarily, I dont bump the version number before a public release, but I had a "release candidate" of 1.0.11 that I pulled at the last minute. Since then, I've sent 1.0.11 beta to so many people that at this point it makes more sense to have the next release be 1.0.12 to make sure that everybody with a beta of 1.0.11 gets notified correctly by the check-for-new-version-on-startup feature. But this is all trivia that most of you probably dont care about...

So what else is coming up? Yes, custom opponent ranges are huge priority... and I really thought I would have this feature in by now. Getting this is has been complicated by another feature I've been working on... but it *is* coming. I know I sound like a broken record on this, and for that I apologize, but I think it will all be worth it in the long run.

Also, CUDA support will be coming in a big way. I had been holding off on releasing this publicly in anticipation of what nVidia was going to do with the release of their "Kepler" generation of GPUs. There was to be a specific feature of Kepler that was going to be a tremendous benefit to a program like SnG Solver. Taking advantage of it would mean a big re-write on my part, but it would have been worth it. ... but then nVidia pulled a bit of a "bait and switch" and this feature ("dynamic parallelism") only showed up in their high-end ($3k+) Tesla HPC cards. So, long story, short: CUDA coming.

Re: HH issues... as I alluded to above, I have fixed a large number of HH parsing issues, so there is a good chance that your issue has already been fixed for 1.0.12. BUT, do not be shy about sending me your offending HH... either post it to this thread, or PM it, or e-mail to support@sngsolver.com.

Re: download issues... I've had a few people from South America contact me about difficulties downloading the installer (presumably because of the size). Because of the nature of the installer, its a little tricky to break it up. I am looking into adding a South American mirror that should help. Also, I think I will be able to reduce the overall size of the download in a future version. In the meantime, if you have had trouble downloading, please contact me directly and I might have some options for you.

I have a question (might have been answered already): the ranges in table view and details view/strategy tree are slightly different. Whats causing this, and what should be the "correct" range?

Seems that the table view is slightly off as it gives different % depending if I am or am not in a certain position. to illustrate:

PokerStars Hand #94400876886: Tournament #693020665, $96.49+$3.51 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level V (40/80) - 2013/02/21 15:19:06 CET [2013/02/21 9:19:06 ET]
Table '693020665 1' 6-max Seat #2 is the button
Seat 1: firgli (1901 in chips)
Seat 2: Callerking (405 in chips)
Seat 5: shabalinvlad (694 in chips)
firgli: posts the ante 8
Callerking: posts the ante 8
shabalinvlad: posts the ante 8
shabalinvlad: posts small blind 40
firgli: posts big blind 80
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to firgli []
Callerking: folds
shabalinvlad: raises 606 to 686 and is all-in
firgli: calls 606

As i'm the bb it gives btn shoverange of 38.8 in both table and strategy view. If I place myself on the btn it still ssays 38.8 in strategy, but 39.7 in table view.

This is because the range displayed for the Hero is always the best-response to the opponents ranges. This range is often slightly different than the equilibrium range for the same position. This is because the equilibrium ranges are only approximate and not actual Nash equilibrium strategies.

So, you could say the Hero's range in the table view is the most "correct".... of course it is only as correct as you have correctly assigned the opponent ranges.
