As a recreational poker player who does web development for a living, I thought it'd be fun to put my skills to use on a poker project. I've been working on a tool similar to PokerTracker and others, but with the goal of making it free to use. (I'm not 100% on whether this will be attainable yet due to costs I'm happy to explain, but that's the hope ultimately.). I've named it PokerApprentice.


The video should give some insight into the current state of the app. It's still a work in progress, but I'm hoping to get an initial version out to some users soon. It currently only supports cash games on the Ignition network (so Bodog & Bovada too), with a goal of adding all the other popular sites in the near future as well.

I'm aiming to add all the same stats offered by similar tools, and I've gotten a very good foundation in place for iterating to add those in the future. I mostly just wanted to get the core product in place for the sites I've played on the most.

I have some ideas on how I might differentiate from those other existing tools, which I won't go into too much detail quite yet. A few examples I'll share here now though, are being able to review your stats at home or on your phone/on the go. (The hand data is uploaded to the cloud so you can access it anywhere.). I'm also thinking about the idea of comparing your stats to other players (anonymously) who use PokerApprentice.
