Re: PokerRanger

I like the new update; however, I am having a problem with the Equity Tables when I am utilizing less than all combinations of a range. For example, Player 1 I put in KK+,AKs and Player 2 I put in AA,4d4c,4h4s,4h4c,4d4s.... I do not get the equities of the 44 hands.

Re: PokerRanger

Hi D. Andrew,

glad that you like it!

I have tried your ranges and have come to the same results. I am not sure what the issue is but we will resolve this with further updates.

Thank you very much for your feedback and all the best,

Re: PokerRanger

Hi again,

there is a new update out now. New features involve a new group suit colorization system, helper buttons for suit weighting and new lines for EV/FE (4-bet/call and 4-bet/fold for a 3-bet/ship line, for example).

There are other features as well and a lot of bug fixes.

D. Andrew: We are afraid, your issue has not been resolved yet. We have found the bug; however, we will probably resolve it when speeding up preflop calculations for mixed suits, as results would take long anyways. A workaround in your case might be to put all the combinations in for the analysis. Then, you can watch the singular combinations part. Of course, this is not great, but the best doable at the moment.

As always we welcome any feedback which might come to your mind!
Have a lot of fun with the update and have a nice day,

Re: PokerRanger

Hallo Eisflame,

nice update for the soft. I have a request: Is there any chance that simply by writing down a percentage range (Let's say 16%) that range automatically appears in someone's range? It is because sometimes it is annoying for me to double click and select the X precentage with the scroll bar when I want to make a quick calculation. Do you know what I mean with this?

Regards!

Re: PokerRanger

Hallo noch mal!

I have noticed something while playing with the EV/FE Calculation. I have some ranges done and saved and all of them are divided in subgroups with different colours (Like hands I would 3Bet and hands I would call with). I find this a pretty pretty usefull tool to make some analysis quickly and I want to say thank you for this.

Now, let's say I want to continue with the yellow subgroup, hand that I would call with. So when I want to study a postflop situation with EV/FE Calculation to know what hand i would raise, fold and so on, I don't have the yellow subgroup but the whole range available:

So, as you can see I can select hands like AA, KK, AKs wich where suposed to be in the green subgroup. Do you think it is possible to filter them? It is simply because if I try to make a balanced approach to the game, I need those hands to be discounted to have the accurate percentages of the hands I would raise, call or fold. If it is any chance you can update this or if you know another way to make it, that would be more than great.

Thank you so much and thank you for your time!

Regards

Re: PokerRanger

Ebenfalls hallo,

first of all, you are very welcome.

I am not sure where exactly you select hands. In the upcoming popup, marking hands should not be possible. So, for what exactly is your whole range instead of the yellow group available?

If you want to subgroup a group, you can simply create other groups and set the parent range to your "yellow group". That way, you can create cascaded groups, which are also selectable in the EV/FE tab.

Thank you for your interest and all the best,

Hi again,

Yeah, I think I've got it and I'll manage to work it out! Thank you for your quick reply!

Finally, a box where we can write some notes in specific scenarios would be really usefull, trust me!

Cheers!

Hi,

I would like to install PR on a new computer but already used the key on 2 of my old ones. How can I deactivate it on one of the old PCs and activate it on the new one.

Does Pokerstars allow PR during play?

Hi HPR1978,

this should work automatically.

To our best knowledge, PR is not prohibited by PokerStars. Of course, for a binding answer, you should contact PokerStars.

Re: PokerRanger

Hey, I bought PokerRanger yesterday. I'm not fully familiar with your program but I can't find one crucial feature - sharing result of the analysis with friends. Not only is it a great inconvenience to the user, but you are missing a great opportunity to get free advertising.

In my opinion you should add an ability to copy text output to clipboard.
Board
Player1 Equity% Player range (win%, tie%, lose%)
Player2 Equity% Player range (win%, tie%, lose%)

Short and clean, great for Skype discussion. The next step would be to create formatted output to forums (intellipoker please ) and you could include link to your program.

I teach beginners and my ideal would be ...

Understandable explanation of why a call is correct or why betting is the best option, also easy to see that 2h on the river is a bad card. Such a solution would be unique on the market and perfect for discussion forums. Free advertisement for you, convenience for teachers, understandable lesson for students. A win-win-win situation.

It would be great if I could:
1. Copy an image to clipboard.
2. Save an image to file.
3. Use program to upload a picture to hosting site and copy direct link to clipboard

EDIT: one more thing. I think you should add hotkeys for group selection:
- alt + ` - complete range
- alt + 1 - create or select 1 group
- ...

Re: PokerRanger

Hi Mirthall,

you are right, sharing features are crucial and have top priority on the to do list.

Your picture seems to be the equity tables tab, what is missing for you there?

And you can save images to your hard drive by File -> Take Screenshot. Of course, uploading a picture would be even better. Also your shortcut ideas are great!

Thank you for your amazing feedback and your interest!
All the best,

Please compare:
1. PrtScr -> upload -> copy link = 10 seconds

2. PrtScr -> open Paint.net -> edit -> upload -> copy link = 45-75 seconds

3. One click on "upload and copy link to clipboard" = 3 seconds

1st method is fast but image is unedited and it is too big to post on forum. It contains many unnecessary informations which can distract readers.
2nd method takes too much time and I wouldn't do it often .
3rd method, that I want you to introduce, takes the least time and gives the best output.

As you noticed, my image doesn't contain "anything new" but it has crucial informations grouped together in easy to share and read format. I hope you can easily add it, using a code you already have. It's all about saving few clicks here and few seconds there. After making many small upgrades like this you will get a tool, which is not only very powerful, but also fast and comfortable to use.

1. Changing red select list -> radio box might require you to make window wider but it shouldn't matter even at 1280x800 resolution. I'm not sure if default values are the most used. So far mostly I used "exactly or higher" especial in Hand Value tab.

2. Changing green select list -> seperate buttons makes me to save 2 clicks. Also I would consider reseting "Hand strenght" form after button click. Most of time I want to select hand like "pair or better" and then only "FD".

3. I would like to have option to substract predefined range. I use slider to select 25% and then I substract (shift+click) predefined 8% 3bet range so I get oppononets cold call range.

I think that improving software is similar to improving your poker game. There are huge pots (equilator, hand matrix, selecting hand by strength, performance), but also small pots (how much time it takes to select range, is there forums friendly output) both are important. Now I focus on small things which (I hope) can be improved without big effort.

Re: PokerRanger

Looking pretty good! I really like the option to select your (sub) ranges after selecting a predefined range. However, I love for a shoving range, to have a bluff and value range. So in order to make sure im well balanced, I make two groups, 1 bluff shove and 1 value shove, so I can count the combo's/%'s.... When selecting a group, i can only select my bluffing group or value group.

Maybe you can make checkboxes so you can select multiple groups at the same time.

Further still playing w.it. But looks amazing!
Thx

Continue to work with Pokerranger and setting my ranges. The function to have a checkbox to decide which groups in a range we want to use would also be very hand to set a range for playing BTN vs BB and decide our strategies. Which hands we are 3betting, calling a 4bet with or 5betting.
Some hands we are 3betting and also calling 4bet with, instead of making two ranges (range a: all hands we 3b and range b: all hands we are calling a 4b with).

Now instead for selecting our 3b range we just check our 3b range + the call 4b range + the 4bet jamme range.

Hope im clear in explaining. otherwise i show some visual example.

Thx

Re: PokerRanger

Also, when starting to create groups. It would be nice to have a statistic saying: X out of X combo's are in the groups. Just to have an overview (perhaps underneath the range selector). This way there is a way to identify when we didnt select all the possible combo's (see below).

Also when you select 50% range and click a color on the hand. The hand gets the full color instead of half grey, half green (the color in this case). And so I miss combos in my calculations, if I dont watch out.

Re: PokerRanger

Here's an example of what I mean.

I can put in one range a BTN vs BB strategy where:
* the purple will be be calling range
* the red,yellow and green I will 3bet;
- The red is the part I'm folding
- The yellow part is what Im shoving
- The green part is what im calling the 4b with (obv. these ranges are just an example to demonstrate my idea)....

So when I 3betted PF. I can just take my overal strategy for BTN vs BB and simply click a checkbox to select red yellow and green.. The same goes for when villain has 4bet me and I flatted. I just go, select BB vs BTN and onlw show the green range (which would work now already...)

Another example is putting together a 4bet value (and thus call a shove) and bluff range... We select both ranges when 4betting and getting flatted by vilain and continue our play from there on... However, while constructing our, putting the bluff and value range(s) in two different groups, we can count individually the number of combo's to make sure we are not to bluff or value heavy but can create a solid range.

Thanks

Re: PokerRanger

Have you tried changing group parent?

But I agree with you it would be nice to be able to assign same hands in many groups.

I assign labels to group colors, but they keep dissapearing when i move to a new hand. Is there any way to have the same group labels for each specific color?

sorry for spamming your topic (at least you get more hits and posts ).. But and alternative option to the checkboxes would be to allow groups (maybe activate this in settings for advanced users who are aware of the consequences) to use the same hand(s) in multiple groups...

For now the biggest function im getting out of the program (and probably the sole reason for going to buy it since im a big fan of crEV already) is the way you guys visualize the ranges and the color coding you can do and how in depth you can analyse your ranges.

This alone makes the program already worth it's price. A few extra features to support this would make it so much better!

Thanks!

Re: PokerRanger

Another cool feature would be to (for example) control + click and ranges will group together and you get an overview of those ranges and see how much % each range represents (this is to weight out the difference between bluffs and value combo's without having to click back and forth to calculate it).

Re: PokerRanger

And another question!

When putting weight into a range, is putting a % of the full range not better then just selecting the suits???? Now if we do 50% A - it doesnt select the 56cc for example..

If the flop now comes AK2ccc we never have a flush.. But if we indeed flat 50% of the time with 56cc, we will have 50% of 4 combo's of 56s, which would mean we do have some straights some % of the time. But the program will now ignore us having a straight.

I have few suggestion about Equity Matrix:

I hope image are enough to understand what I mean.

Also I would change default filename from "untilted" to date - board:
"YYYY-MM-DD QcJh5h 8h.pra"
