Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to use the software. I entered color coded complete ranges of how to react to an UTG open for instance, in which I have calls raises and folds. If I choose to call, i select this entire range, then the "call" range within. However it seems I am unable to work with *just* the call range when using the hand strength filters. I made a gif:

https://gyazo.com/a24c5411e8dbaeeb46d8c82aad0d1aa8

As you can see when I change the number it reverts to the entire range of hands I have an option for vs an UTG open.

Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?

Hi Neurotoxin,

in the main window, you should use the dropdowns for the ranges in order to select a particular group. I am not particularly sure whether this is your problem, since you have many groups in place and I am not entirely sure which range you do use.

So, in short: In the dialog, you can change one particular group. This group needs to be selected in the main window, then, to take affect. Where in this process exactly does something not work out?

Thank you very much for your interest!

Best regards,
Michael

Almost 2 years have passed since I asked you about PR2, isn't that enough time to at least tell us about new features in the software if not the release date?

Hello DeuceOTR,

I would love to let you know about the new features! Experience shows, though, that any feature only remotely mentioned will immediately be implemented by other software developers... I hope, you understand that this is not something which we desire to happen.

Some of the new features that you might already know of are multiplayer equity calculation and real weight calculations. Of course, they can also be combined and are fast enough, especially since we introduce Monte Carlo calculations.

Many improvements are on the side of the user interface. Usability should be better. Also, we will have an easier licensing system that is more robust to changes in the hardware and fewer changes will be necessary in case that Windows 10 is utilized... some Windows 10 bug needs changing DLLs at times, which will, of course, no longer be necessary.

Additionally, we will have new evaluation functions. Unfortunately, this is exactly some point about that we cannot talk about at the moment.

I hope, this is at least a little tidbit.

All the best,
Michael

Is there anything other than windows that PR or PR2 will run on?

Hi apkrnewb,

excuse my late answer.

PokerRanger2 will be in essence developed at least 98% platform-independent. We feel that the market for Mac users is growing, which is why we think of porting it to Mac, as well.

Linux is more complex because PokerRanger is not open-source and we would need to provide many, many builts.

Do you have macOS in mind or any other platform?

All the best,
Michael

Is there a way to save all ranges on your computer in case you need to re-install, change PCs, etc.?

Hi monkey1,

of course. In the range selection dialog, you can just click on the "Export" button at the bottom right part of the dialog. This way, you can create a prt file. This is human-readable, so could also check in a text editor like notepad, whether everything has been saved.

This is also a good way to share ranges with friends. But please note that importing such a file deletes all ranges that you currently have. Having a backup of your ranges as prt file is a good idea.

Best regards,
Michael

Hi Eisflamme,

if i decide to purchase PokerRanger1 will there be some sort of discount for PokerRanger2 ?
Otherwise it might be smarter to wait till PokerRanger2 is released, since i dont want to pay twice.
Also any news for release date ?

Hello cancerstars,

no news on the release date.

But yes, we are planning on offering a discount for PokerRanger2 in the case that you have already purchased PokerRanger1. The details of the discount are not yet clear, though!

All the best,
Michael

Hi Michael - it has been a long time since we heard from you. No updates to PokerRanger 1 for quite some time, and no news about PokerRanger 2. How about revealing some secrets?

Hello HAMsmoke,

you are right in your statements! I wish I could come out with all the under-the-hood changes that we have accomplished during the time. Still, experience shows that revealing those things will lead to no good in the end.

However, one rather big milestone that we have achieved internally can most likely be revealed: We have already ported the current work version of PokerRanger2 to macOS. This might not be important for each and every user but certainly for some, as it has been repeatedly wished for at the different platforms.

Most likely we will be able to publish PokerRanger 2 for both Windows and macOS in the end with all the features that we work with at the moment.

Wish you happy holidays!

Best regards,
Michael

Hey Eisflamme,

is it planned for future updates / PR2 to add a certain percentage of a specific combination to a range instead of just chosing the suits?

Thanks, and sorry if answered already.

Hello chief1,

yes, this will be possible. In fact, in our work version, this is already implemented in full. All of the existing tabs will have the possibility to work with those weights. It is even possible to create a group based on the parent range and the difference of one group taking into account the weights.

Michael

How can I see the different colour groups in the main range? E.g., when I have three different groups, like this:

then why does the main range still look like this

... and not display the group color codes, like I am pretty sure I had seen in screenshots posted elsewhere?

Hi +VLFBERH+T,

I am not exactly sure what your issue seems to be.

If you click on one of the groups, you get the display of all the groups being in the main range on this level.

The reason for this is that you might even have subgroups. If you are in a subgroup, you will see all the groups on that level.

Does this help you?

Best regards
Michael

Yes, when I am on the subgroup level, I see the subgroups, so that is the upper screenshot.

But when I switch back to the main range (i.e. second screenshot), is there any way to see the subgroups in the main range, with their respective colours? I would guess then that the answer is no, and one can only see the colour coded subgroups from the "group view"

Hi,

you are right, at the moment, a click into one of the groups is necessary. Being in the base range and selecting hands would otherwise mean that the group that they belong to us not defined. Unselecting hands would remove them entirely from the range.

I like the idea that groups are visible anytime. We just needed to elaborate the behavior that the UI has, then.

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Best regards,
Michael

Hello TakeItiletyou,

I am not sure, which customer you exactly are because I have no match from your 2+2 name to your email address or written name.

We sent a license to one customer that paid yesterday automatically. In a question via mail when the license would arrive, we immediately answered that he should check all his spam/junk folders because, as it happens, sometimes the license mail is trapped here.

I can recommend the same to you, here.

If you can still not find the license, please write us an email either via the contact form on our homepage, or directly via the email address provided at our homepage's contact page (2+2 policy forbids me to post the link here). That way, we can double-check whether everything is in order. Please also make sure to add our email address to a "white list" if your email provider has one.

Does this help you?

Best regards,
Michael

Hi Michael, I wrote you a mail on July 5th and then a reminder last week tuesday and have not gotten any reply. The topic was that I get crashes when I use Pokerranger. You extended my trial phase in which I could further investigate and pinpoint the error. How can we proceed now? I would appreciate a response. Thanks and Regards. J.

Hello anon707,

I have just answered you.

This issue seems to be highly system-dependent and is very hard to reproduce. Nevertheless, we will have a look into it and are open for any hints that might help us.

Best regards,
Michael
