Poker Quiz comment: When hero is the underdog the odds are displayed in non-standard form: I.e. if hero has 13% equity the quiz answer says hero has 0.15:1 odds as a favorite rather than 6.66:1 against. It would be more useful if the odds were always shown in the "x:1" form where x >=1 and you say whether hero is a favorite or an underdog.
Weird. Checked on a few other iPhones and searches for "pokercruncher" and "poker odds" showed my apps. All phones I checked are running OS 3.0, and none are 3GS's. What's your device and OS? I've entered keywords for all my apps so they should be showing up. Would be nice to get some more data points either way.

Re. the x >= 1 in the odds, sure, helps readability and is easy. Will do in the next update. But I won't interrupt the Quizzer update I submitted last week, so next-next update.

PokerCruncher also has this x >= 1 issue. Harder to address there because of limited screen space if you have many players, for the "fav" and "dog" words. Especially in the S stats view. I'll think about it.

Thanks for input, -RJ

I have a 3GS with the latest OS: 3.0.1 (think this version # referes to the OS). Directing folks to the home page and loading the app into iTMS via the home page is a fool proof (?) work around.

Use a + for favorite and a - for underdog. E.g. +2:1 means I have 66.6% equity, -3:1 means I have 25% equity.

+/- sounds good, will be in the next-next set of updates.

I tried on a few OS 3.01 phones as well and got successful searches. Will investigate more, I need my apps to show up if someone searches e.g. "poker odds"!

Thx, -RJ

Thanks AB! Re. your email feature request, great feature I think, will be in the next-next update probably. The next update V.2.71 was submitted 8/31, should go live within a few days. One of my nits with the App Store.., Apple should hire more app reviewers to cut down this ~ 2 week wait.

I'm thinking, an "Export Hand" button that loads the current scenario incl. results into a new screen in some standard text form. Then you copy/paste the text (requires OS 3.0) and email/save/whatever it. And an "Import Hand" button. This will let you email a hand to someone else and they can import your scenario, or you can import an old saved scenario. This includes exporting/importing hand ranges of course.

Thanks for all your ideas guys and support. -RJ

You bet, will be in V.2.8 (next-next update). Along with the better x:1 odds format, etc. Thanks for feedback.

Looking forward to Apple posting the next update V.2.71; 13 days in the queue now.

Just purchased Poker Cruncher (full version of course ) and Poker Odds Quizzer.... they are downloading now.

Look forward to using them... will post a review when I have used them for a bit, but given the content in this thread I am pretty sure that it will be a positive one...

Great work!

Suggested New Feature: Accept payments in Skalansky Bux.

I guess this does not work on Sony Ericsson X1 right? Anybody know any similar poker apps that work on X1?

joelcamefalling: Thanks!, I'll make sure the app lives up to the "first app" honor : ).

MrWooster: Thanks, suggestion noted, I look forward to feedback.

Azalin: I don't know about the Sony phone. Cruncher works only on iPhone/touch; no plans for porting to other devices.

PokerCruncher V.2.71 went live today!
1) Equity heat map: continuous range of colors instead of 5 discrete-level colors.
2) Detailed stats: show range's total number of hand combinations and each cell's num hand combs.

Example pics are below. Note that in 1) the cells' equities and colors are more accurate than in the Top50% vs. Top25% example I've been using because the range in 1) has fewer cells than Top50% so each cell gets a larger random hand sample.

Hope everyone likes this!, o.w. do let me know. There will be a V.2.8, and a V.2.9, .. Just thinking back, "PokerStove on iPhone" was a good goal for an odds calc, but now it's time to keep innovating and do analysis that goes well beyond. Your ideas and suggestions have certainly helped (and customer M.S.'s). Thx, -RJ

Example of 1): {AA, AnyConnector} vs. RandomHand:

Example of 2): Top50% vs. Top25%, detailed stats of Top50%:

just bought it! searched the software forum for iphone and this thread was prominent. I'll need to spend some time playing around with it.

First thing I noticed, being the retentive bastard I am:
- I like the sound of PkrCruncher or PokerCrunch rather than PokCruncher.

Thanks for getting the app. You read my mind, work on V.2.8 is underway and I've gone with PkrCruncher (noticed Pkr in another app's display name and it sounds better).

Do send feedback.. The updates will continue e.g. 4-color cards, export hand, and I/M.S. also have more heat map analysis ideas. -RJ

I am still loving this app... especially the quiz one... really good.

Long term idea I guess.... but how about allowing the community to submit question sets? This would allow almost unlimited sets of questions which could be downloaded on demand....?

Thanks, I think it's a great idea, to put the knowledge of the community to work. May need an approve/filter process on the questions, but just details. It's non-trivial though as it requires a server, so I can't promise it in the near term but maybe in a V.3.xxx series of the app.

Along these lines I've also thought about a worldwide high-scores leaderboard in the Quizzer app. E.g. the app gives you 10 or 20 random, or preset, questions (or from some subareas), times you, doesn't show you the correct answers, and posts your id and numerical score. This would be in addition to your locally saved results. But again this requires a server so I never started it. I know about a new company that has a high score leaderboard API for iPhone apps, looking into it, not sure what the royalty/fee is yet.

Again I can't promise any of this because of the server complication and I need to weigh this big update to Quizzer against new and different app ideas. But great to have more ideas/suggestions than time. Thanks, -RJ

Update - I submitted PokerCruncher V.2.81 today, will go live in about 2 weeks. Note: I had to skip over the V.2.8 number due to technical difficulties on Apple's submit update site (went down for a while and ate my first attempt at this update : ).

V.2.81:
* 4-color cards. Standard black, red, green, blue.
* New (saved) setting for 2-color or 4-color.
* Better n:1 odds format: now n is always >= 1.0. "n:1" means "odds against" as before, and "n:1F" means "odds in favor" or "odds as a favorite".
* Change app display name to "PkrCruncher" (used to be "PokCruncher").

funkyj - I went with just adding an "F" if the odds are "favorite" instead of the + and - because it takes up less space (overall additional chars) and I wasn't sure if +/- was standard. E.g. "3:1F" means 75% equity and "3:1" means 25% equity as before. Do let me know if this doesn't sound ok.

I haven't forgotten about some other features you guys suggested like AB's export/email/save hand feature, will get to it. I plan to release Cruncher updates every month or so. Thanks for your ideas and feedback, -RJ

Yay! Now for 4-colors in the quiz app! I use the quiz a lot more than the cruncher right now.

Fine by me, as long as X >=1 in "X:1" (as you say it is).

Yup am working on 4-color in Hold'em Odds Quizzer now (with a saved setting for 2-color or 4-color), and the better odds format. This update will be a day or two behind Cruncher's. Then Poker Odds Teacher and PokerCruncher Lite.

Yes x will always be >= 1 in all x:1 odds.

And just to nip any potential issues in my beginner's artwork in the bud here's a pic of the 4-color cards. There's a slight hint of red in the suits' borders in the blue diamond cards, I'm hoping this is ok (can also be considered an artistic touch). Thanks for feedback, -RJ
