2)Buy AMD CPUs instead. They are cheaper and offer better performance. You can also get a lot of cores with Thread Ripper if you're about building a serious work station.

3)If you feel like giving Intel a chance email them about their policy and complain.

4)Consider if installing latest Intel patches is worth it. It's hard to say what the performance hit is (no one can publish the benchmarks or they can be sued by Intel) and for many our users who don't run 3rd party code on their performance machines it might be not worth it.
Unfortunately those patches are likely to be included in Windows updates so you need to be careful about what you install on your work stations.

Hi, thanks for feedback. Yes this is what I mean. I tried that and it still does not show bet frequencies. Would it have anything to do with me having too many bet sizes in my sims?
Well yeah, the numbers only appear if there is enough space for minimum sized font.
You can also right click on 13x13 area and copy-pate them to notepad/excel/libre office. While it's less convenient it can still be useful if you really need them.

Quote:
The weird thing is that they appear on turn for me but not the flop but I have seen sims like my example I sent where they are also on the flop? Why would that be? I have as many if not more turn bet sizes in my sims.
Can you send us the tree config? (preferably pm here or email support@piosolver.com). If there is the same number of options I would like to investigate why it's showing in one case but not the other.

Don't think I have any faulty network adapters. I have one wireless adapter that is turned off so It doesn't interfere with my ethernet (on a laptop) and the rest seem to be fine.
Can you try at least temporarily turn it on (just to activate the license for the first time). In general network adapters don't need to be turned off (just not active) although I admit I don't understand details too closely here (we use 3rd party licensing library and that's one thing it is too picky about on regular basis).
Please try running the solver in admin mode as well (right click on PioSOLVER-pro.exe, choose run as admin, insert key in the black console window that appears).

Piotrek

Hi guys,

Is there a feature on PIO that will give us our EV on all possible turns/rivers?

Like the feature in Simple Postflop...

So you have a list of all possible turns and the EV for both players beside each card...

Ran it in admin mode and now I get this error:

I'm using basic version.

Hey guys,

i recently started running piosolver on a rented server and noticed that it constantly only uses about 20-30% of its CPU power compared to 90+% as it was on my home laptop.
Does anyone know how to have it use the full power of my server? (I have a contabo server with i think 20 cores in case that matters)

help would be much appreciated, thanks already

Has anyone benched the new 16-core Threadripper (the 2950X, not the 32-core 2990WX)? I'm curious to see how it performs because the 32-core has some differences with memory access for half of the cores that might make it less attractive for Pio considering you can buy two 2950x's for the price of one 2990WX.

Yes, there are aggregation reports. You can choose a line to run it on and then it will give EV/EQ/action frequencies for every turn/river.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhG_YsEvfwU (question number 7)

If you are interested in just last card you can use ctrl+h to bring up EV comparison for every card in current line.

Email us with your key and we will reset it for you.
After that it should work without problems.

Usual reasons for it not using more are:

1)Energy saving settings (you need to turn them off, "balanced" is not good)
2)Some external antivirus which eats the resources
3)Cooling system not working correctly (when CPU overheats it throttles the performance to save itself)

Try checking those and see if that helps.

What do you guys recommend for ~350$

Sorry for the stupid question but i starting doing some work with smaller stack sizes and was wondering what should i be inputting into the raise size if i only want a raise size of all in?

Assume i can just put in any size as long as it covers effective stacks?

Thanks

It's hard to say because CPU prices depends on country/region/deal you can get.
If you are assembling the computer yourself then it's the best to buy used.

You can input "a" (without quotes) instead of a number.

There is now 1.10.19 version available.
It's a very minor bugfix release. More here:

https://www.piosolver.com/blogs/news...elease-1-10-19

To get it please run the updater in your Pio folder.

A couple questions, how long do sims usually take to run? i nkow itll vary but the details but i was surprised at how quickly some of mine were finishing with 16gb ram.

Also, whenever I input paramaters and give OOP a leading range, the solver comes back with a perfectly split range for every size - if i give it the options 33 and 66% bet size, it gives me a strategy divided into 33% 33, 33% 66, and 33% check, and if i use 33/66/100 it does 25% 33, 25% 66, 25% 100, and 25% check, and so on. it has been going on for several sims. i figure im doing something wrong but can't figure it out.. any input is appreciated!

edit* it gives them all equal perecentages and splits the combos evenly but the color map doesnt indicate anything, for example here, check is listed 25% but doesnt cover any of the map

It's really impossible to answer. It depends on how big the tree is, how fast your computer is and what accuracy you want to solve to.

You're probably browsing the solution while the solver is solving and it didn't refresh yet. If you stop the solver and/or go back and forth in the tree it will refresh and show current strategies.

Yeah, totals weren't automatically refreshed back then. Please update to the newest version:
https://www.piosolver.com/blogs/news...elease-1-10-19

and it will work without going back and forth in the tree.

Hey does anyone know if this is possible:
Im considering upgrading to pro for scripts but I want to know if node locking is possible when using scripts. For example, can I put a certain EVP(expected value percentile) for what my opponent would call each bet size and have this EVP be automatically analyzed across all flops I script for. This would be very useful for developing simplified exploits across a wide range of flops. Thanks

Hello, im trying to setup a tree via the console of piosolver, but i have a hard time understanding how the add_line thing works.

For example if i run a tree building inside pioviewer on the river, with only bet size 50 and raise size 3x for the 2 players, i get:
add_line 0 400
add_line 0 50 150 400
add_line 0 50 400
add_line 400
add_line 50 150 400
add_line 50 400

Why i dont have only lines that end with an allin ?
Why "add_line 50 50", for bet 50 and call is not necessary for example ?

thanks

Node-locking using general language like this is currently not possible.

All check/calls are added automatically. This is done to make working with add_line simpler (so you don't have to generate hundreds of them for every check/call). You can add remove_line(s) later to remove lines you don't want (including check/calls which are automatically added).

Hi

I changed my computer and would like to install PioSolver again, only that there is a problem: it tells me that I have reached the maximum number of activations.

I looked for a guide to how to disable the previous activations, but there is a problem that is that I have formatted the old computer and given it away and I can not do the deactivation procedure. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ozjfnatwms (question number 3)) While for the second activation I sincerely have no idea where I used it.

How can I solve this problem?

If i start the simu from the turn pioviewer adds check&calls on the turn when i build the tree?

Ex: on blinds 1/2, 200 stacks, start from turn with 50% bet and 3x raise for the 2players, it builds the tree with lines like:
*add_line 6 18 42 90 90 90 200
*add_line 6 6 6 18 42 200
*add_line 6 6 6 18 42 90 200

All check/calls to the end are always added automatically so you only need to describe bet sizes in add_line(s).

4 * 3.5 = 14
6 * 3.7 = 22.2

Additionally there is around 10%-15% for hyprethreading in the case of hexa core so it's going to be around x1.75 faster than your previous one.

I would definitely look at Ryzens instead of Intel CPUs. They offer much better performance/price ratio.

Was wondering if anybody could hepe me with this subtree config, it seems that given this runout, if OOP checks, he can just get runover by IP overbetting 2x pot, since pio only calls about 12% of hands. Shouldn't pio be checking some 7x, maybe 87s, since it blocks some of villians calling range?

It's true EV of checking and betting is the same for many hands in OOP range.
87 is not one of them though:
https://gyazo.com/59e2794f59e619f90530dfee5bce7441

I don't think OOP is "run over". IP has stronger range. OOP tries to get some value at least by betting while giving up on most hands when checking. If OOP was always checking for example their overall EV would be 10 chips lower. OOP would still be forced to give up a lot after an overbet (try it, OOP is only calling ~17.8% after checking 100%). IP's range is just too strong for OPP to hope to make IP's bluffs break-even.

This is btw a great example of how "1-alpha" thinking fails. A strategy of check-calling enough so IP is indifferent between bluffing and checking costs tons of EV. This only works in one street toy games with symmetric ranges and doesn't apply to real poker at all.

I rented a server with the following specs to use with Pio Pro:

CPU: Intel 2x Xeon E5-2630v3 - 16c/32t - 2.4GHz/3.2GHz
RAM: 128GB DDR4 ECC 1866 MHz

I was hoping to get really low benchmarks, but when I run the bench command, I'm getting about 7 seconds. All cores are working and power settings are on high performance. What specs above do I need to improve upon to get those 3 and 4 second benches I've seen in this thread in the past? Any other tips? Thanks!
