Also a disclaimer: I have been using Notecaddy for well over a year and own a copy of NotecaddyEdge both SnG and MTT. I'm not an expert to the ins and outs of Notecaddy, NotecaddyEdge or NotecaddyNXT. I also only tend to use certain aspects of the software.

For those that don't know, Notecaddy is a Holdem Manager add on that takes notes for you. It does much more than notes though and can delve into your stats and pick up on tells that we all have. It can convey these leaks by a simple badge, something I'd have to delve into my HUD or analyse post game to find out. It can also give note definitions that can be analysed and a scatter graph that I use on certain occasions but it was for badges why I initially bought the software.

Notecaddy comes with several free badges but to get the most out of the software you either have to create your own or use/ purchase badges that someone else has created.

I've tried several times creating my own badges, always without success. As I'm a SnG guy, I purchased NotecaddyEdge SnG, at the time it was the only package available to me.

I also added NotecaddyEdge MTT and to be fair I was really happy with the product.

As a Micro Stakes Reg I used a lot of the badges it supplied so when Morten (NotecaddyNXT's creator) offered the chance to try his software I literally jumped at the chance to compare his software.

Now on to the software.

Getting used to any software is always a steep learning curve. Even installing can be a problem even though I've installed Notecadddy packages before. Morten was on hand however via Skype to sort my problems. That's one thing I must mention, Morten was always on hand to help and he was always listening to ideas and points made. I guess he also wants the very best for his product.

NXT comes with its own HUD but I've been set in my ways for too long and preferred my own simple HUD. Morten helped me incorporate the badges into my HUD. Obviously using NXTs HUD you will get the full use out of the software but have words with the creator and see if he can do something for you.

I like the clarity of the badges. They are easy to read and understand. Getting to know them takes time but hovering or clicking on a badge explains its meaning. I don't see many badges in my HUD although there is space for plenty so when I see a badge I know it holds true. That was one complaint I had about NCE, my HUD was cluttered with badges some of which I never used. This is OK if you one table but when you have 6 or 8 tables open, you need to make quick decisions.

I don't use many of his Pop Ups. I don't usually have time and my site of choice is I-Poker which is clunky and resource hungry on my aging PC. I haven't delved deep enough into pop ups to form an opinion. I do however use the Scatter Graphs as I like to visualise ranges rather than see numbers. My problems with using the scatter graphs is my aging PC so I can't usually examine these until my review sessions.

Has the software made money for me? Over the short term I'd say yes. It's hard to compare to my overall win rate as I've only a sample of just under 400, I've also been on a heater which may or may not have been due to NXT. Where it has helped was quicker decisions which in turn has made my game easier.

In summary, I like the software, it has many features and don't think it would take too long to recoup its initial outlay.

I've still to explore the software deeper.
