I say trial because I have only tested it on my 64bit Intel SnowLeopard MacBook Pro but I hope it will work on other versions of OSX as well as 32 bit machines. If some Mac users are willing to download and test it out and report back to me what version of OSX they are using and whether it is a 64 or 32 bit system I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Hey Neko -
I just DL'd this, but when I tried to open it, the icon bounces up and down at the bottom of my page (like all program when they're first opening), then simply disappears and that's it. No error messages, nothing. Just, gone.

I'm not very computer savvy, forgive me, but here are my hardware specs...
Hardware Overview:

Model Name: MacBook Pro Version 10.5.8
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

If there is other info that would be helpful to you, direct me to it and I'm happy to share. I'm interested in seeing this program succeed.

Hi Paadtarmick,

In your Finder, go to /Applications/Utilities and run Console. It should look like this:

Click on the "console messages".

Now try to launch Slice. There should be an error message printed in Console. If you can send that message to support@sliceeq.com hopefully I will be able to help you out.

Thanks.

I have the exact same problem, will do the console-thing and report

just wanted to say currently using slice for mac and it is awesome! thank you so much, keep up the great work

couple things- the pt3 integration is helpful- kindof... slice imports the data after all cards are dealt, and we rarely want to know the equity on the river- its almost always 100 or 0! might be better to just input preflop, or even better, some sort of hand replayer built into the program would be sweet, would make session reviews much smoother

also small issue but command-H brings up a window, when in every other mac program command-H is "hide program", you might want to switch this to something else

Please do. I believe I have fixed this problem now and will have a fix out later this weekend but would still like to see your console-log to confirm my suspicions. I think it is due to people not having Postgressql installed.

I could make it an option whether to import flop, turn or river but for now I just figured I would include all board cards and the user could decide which street to simulate by deleting the turn or river card as desired. You could also do a street by street equity calculation.

That's a good suggestion thanks. I'm not too familiar with default Mac commands

I can't get Slice to work on my Apple MacBook?

I downloaded the software twice. Pulled it into my apps folder and put an icon in the doc. If I click on the Alias or app icon nothing happens.

No error message, nothing launches very odd.

Anyone else have this issue?

There are a few people having that issue and I'm working to sort it out right now.

Can you please follow the instructions in post 53 of this thread and send the results to support@sliceeq.com?

Thanks!

I have been hoping for a Pokerstove type software for Apple computers for a long time. I never wanted to run emulation software to basically run two programs. Pokerstove and SNG Wizard.

I hope you can get the issues resolved. I was goingh to purchase a piece of software called Poker zebra developed by the guy who wrote Poker copilot but I held off in purchasing and until I got to play around with your software which looks way more advanced.

There is a version of Slice for Mac available here: http://sliceeq.com/downloads/Slice1.5.1b.dmg that some people have reported as fixing the previous issue where Slice failed to launch.

Please give it a shot and let me know whether it works for you or not.

Once I have confirmation that it works for most people I will make it the official Mac release version.

Thanks.

some other quick suggestions:
tab and "shift-tab" should navigate between (board), (dead), and the player boxes.. as it is shift-tab goes from the player 1 input to "side pots", "x", "dead", "x", then "board"...

also ENTER should run the equity calculation.. with these two changes entering equities would be much faster and could be run entirely from the keyboard

as it is now when i punch in cards and hit ENTER the "enumerating please wait" box pops up for a split second, then disappears and the program doesn't run any calculations... is this just me or common for other mac users?

Hmm. The tab order and Enter to run simulation actually work correctly on my MBP so I'm surprised to hear that it varies from computer to computer. I'll see if there is anything I can do to force uniform behavior from computer to computer.

Mac users, is anyone successfully running Slice on OSX 10.5 (If you're not sure you can check from the Apple menu and clicking About this Mac).

I have sorted out some of the "failure to launch" problems for users on OSX10.5 (download http://sliceeq.com/downloads/Slice1.5.1c.dmg if you want to try it yourself) but some people are still reporting crashes at various times.

Things seem to run smoothly on OSX10.6.

You could make it easy to change or clear a hand where we just select some combos and not all combinatorics...

i.e: I click "Choose Suits" then go for "QdJd, QhJh"; Then click Done;

Now, i cant unselect these two hands or select all 4 suits again; If i click on it, it changes to "QcJc,QsJs";

If i click Choose suits again, and choose all 4, it invervets the selection;

After play for a while i discover that if id like to add "QcJc,QsJs" i need to just click in these and not clicking on "QdJd, QhJh" again; Its like QdJd, QhJh was already selected, but the program do not show it is selected, and if i click on then, im actually, unselecting it, and not selecting again..

Its kind confuse to explain, but easy to see if u try it

Yes I see what you mean. Thanks, I'll fix that up in the next release.

Thanks for posting the link the other day.

I installed it from that link and it's running fine on my Apple computer.

Now i need to learn how the program works!
