10 definitely not correct

Yeah, for some trees you need to go as much as 20. For some, above 10 the strategy doesn't change much at all.

"4. Solving and viewing the solution
When you are satisfied with the game tree and abstraction settings you can begin solving the tree. Switch to the "Solve"-tab and press the start button. If the tree is postflop you will have to select the board cards before starting.

The time required for the solution to converge will vary heavily on the size of the game tree. Large preflop trees may take several days to converge. An iteration count equal to 10 times the node count is a good guideline for when the solution starts becoming sound. You can however view the solution while it is converging. "

You guys have noticed significant strategy changes in going from iterations/nodes 10-20?

Anything you notice about the trees you're running when that's the case?

How are everyone else analyzing the exported ranges? PPT can't read them (too many signs (java stackoverflow). I guess PokerJuice can't read them neither?

Anyways, does MonkerSolver hold all of the RAM-memory that it works with, or could one dump the memory that it isn't holding up? To run bigger trees with less memory.

Anyone have any tips on how to quickly export ranges from Odds Oracle to a text list of every combo that I could just copy and paste over to ranges for Monker?

For example I could use the range explorer in OO to type in the syntax for the range I want to list in full. Then select the Show Hands tab then ctrl-a, ctrl-c and paste into notepad, but then all of the hands listed are separated by a "tab".

Then I need to find a way to replace all tabs with a comma...

edit: I see I can do this by using replace all \t with , in notepad++. Is there a method with fewer steps or some method of accomplishing similar goals anyone else is using?

I have just downloaded Monkersolver, when I click the program icon I get this message:

Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

I have seen on the first page of this thread about making sure its the 64bit not the 32bit version but the only download link/version I can find is here:http://www.monkerware.com/solver.html

I have 16gb of ram.
I have java version 1.8.0_141 I cant see anything in command prompt telling me if this is 64 or 32bit.

Would you mind telling me what I need to do to fix this / get the program to run?

Also do I buy pre-computed solutions with in the program? I couldn't see much about it from the website.

Thanks.

For building and solving pre flop trees it would be very useful with a feature that lets us define one or more bet sizes for every street, and then the tree can be built with all combinations of those sizes without the user having to tweak bet sizes manually (unless he wants to). This would be like Piosolver and CREV do it.

I've just started to play with the program, but it seems the only bet sizes in the tree are all-in when we start a new tree. I use exponential post flop sizing as my standard when I solve pre flop trees (4 bets/raises for SRP, 3 for 3BP, 2 for 4BP). This is fine, since pre flop frequencies are not very sensitive to the post flop bet sizing scheme (pretty much any reasonable scheme will give the same preflpo frequencies). So I want to be able to quickly build pre flop trees with exponential bet sizing everywhere in the post flop part of the tree.

So I'm basically looking to replace the all-in bets that are already there with a % of pot size (something like 75% for SRP, 60% for 3BP, 55% for 4BP). Can this be done easily, without having to click around in the tree and manually change all bets everywhere? If not, can you add this feature so that we don't have to spend so much time doing mundane tasks to build a tree?

TIA!

You have to make sure the Java you download is 64-bit, means you have to manually find and download the proper version instead of downloading what oracle's website gives you.

right click > add to all > custom filter

Ty, that's what I get for not RTFM. ;-)

I have another one:

I'd like to remove all the ALLIN bets and raises that get inserted automatically into the tree (I'd like all betting to be geometrical everywhere). Is there an easy way to do that?

Mark ALL-IN in bottom right hand corner, seleclt the root note -> Remove All

Once you start the tree, right click on the range (somewhere on any of the cards, not on the header) you want to change and either lock frequency or edit range.

Small bug:

Choosing Pio format and copying to clipboard doesn't copy the right format:

After closing and reopening the dialog box we get the right format.

That takes the unwanted ALLINs, but also the ones that are necessary (the last bet that goes allin).

I'd like to set up geometrical betting with 4 bets SRP, 3 bets 3BP and 2 bets 4BP, and without ALLIN anywhere except on the 4th bet SRP, 3rd bet 3BP and 2nd bet 4BP. Is there a neat way to do that without manual fiddling?

Once you create the node (like 3bet), remove all-ins first and then add custom filters. The bets will be converted into all-ins when necessary based on your settings.

I've found a bug in the loading of pre flop ranges from Pio (via clipboard) when setting up a Hold'em post flop simulation: Ranges with fractions load, ranges with only whole combos do not.

BB vs BTN single-raised pot:

BB's pre flop calling range loads. BTN's open range does not:

But if I load BB's range onto BTN, it works:

It's not a bug, it's by design.
Pio has specific format which differs depending where you copied the range from - it's not consistent. The best way to copy range from Pio to monker is to go to chart maker (CTRL+P), then select your range, press Ok and then right click the matrix, Copy Range 1 - this is the format that Monker actually uses.

Can I start a pre flop simulation with player(s) locked to certain ranges? For example, let's say I solve BTN/SB/BB with SB and BB having the option to flat/3B/fold vs the BTN open. We get BTN's open range from the solution.

Next I want to investigate if 3B-or-fold is a good strategy for SB (meaning, can he capture most of his EV even if he does not flat). Now I would like to lock BTN to the open range found in the previous equilibrium to see what SB's EV becomes when BTN doesn't adjust his open range to SB's strategy simplification.

Then I would run a simulation with BTN on the original optimal open range and without the option to fold. Possible?
Possible?

@willyT
just record a macro in notepad which does the search and replace and do not forget to add mark all and copy all before stop recording.
i need less than 10 seconds now between copying in ppt and pasting in monker due to the macro

@monkerware
thx for this program! great work!

i have 2 feature requests
1) it would be nice if the hands in the monker results were sorted in the same way as ppt does. so for example write KsKh7d7c insteaf of Kh7c7dKs (As>Ah>Ad>Ac>Ks>Kh>...>2d>2c)

2) is there a way to exploit a non-gto-range? f.e. finding an optimal 3betting/flattingrange from bb when button opens 80%vr ppt range. so, basically fixing one range and find the best strat against this fixed range. (same for postflop)
