Hi all,

I'm having difficulty loading the ranges in MonkerViewer. Essentially, loading times seem infinite on both my pcs. I found earlier in this thread that this can be caused by having too many items in the ranges folder. However, I used to be able to load big databases (100+ ranges) on both pcs, and it is only recently that this problem has started appearing in MonkerViewer. But now it cannot even load 20 ranges at once.

The ranges are in the correct folders (MonkerSolver/ranges/Hold'Em/6-max/...) so that is not the problem. I've tried various solutions, including seriously trimming the preflop trees so that they take up less space, and renaming the folders in various ways, but with no effect. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can do?

Hey guys,

Probably doing something noob but I downloaded Monkerviewer and I'm trying to put my range charts in there. I watched an instruction video on how to do it but at the end the person in the video says "click on the local tab" which seems to be missing for me. I only have Cloud and Store. Anyone got any ideas how to add local tab or the walkthrough on how to add my own range charts so I can view them in Monkerviewer.

I emailed MV support but reading it can take months for them to respond so hoping someone here can help me before that

Thanks!

It sounds like you are using an older version of Monkerviewer. Try upgrading to the newer version to see if the problem persists.

Are you using Monkerviewer 1.2? Essentially the local tab should be detected automatically if your Monkerviewer is configured properly. If you install Monkerviewer 1.2, create a folder labeled 'ranges' in it's directory, and place the Monkerviewer files you wish to view in there. Then when you start Monkerviewer, there will be an option to specify a local folder to read from by clicking 'set folder' next to 'login'.

Is there an easy way to generate the PPT syntax for node locking mixed strategies?

The range selector only lets you select pure strategies.

You can select mixed strategies when assigning postflop ranges but there's no way to copy those so effectively if you use the range selector to node lock then you can only node lock a pure strategy.

One really strange and concerning thing I notice is combos showing up in node locked ranges that shouldn't be there.

Like in this hand I've node locked CO open & BTN flat, this is what Monker says should be BTNs rejam range vs BB sqz all-in and CO iso vs the sqz

All those circled regions with the combos at .5 freq were not part of BTN's node locked flatting range (I did not have him flat AA or 72o, for example).

Here's a screenshot of CO call vs BB sqz all-in:

All those circled regions with the combos at .33 freq were not part of CO's node locked opening range.

It's always the node locked ranges where these combos that should be 0% freq are showing up.

From a running preflop NL sim (1), if you right-click into a field for a certain action, for example 'ALL IN', there is an option that says 'Lock ALL IN from chart' (2). In the window that pops up there is a slider at the bottom that let's you select hands at a specific frequency (3).

In your first example, it's likely not a coincidence that those combos are present at exactly 0.5 frequency. Possibly you only locked half of the original combos.

Hi, I am trying to set up MonkerSolver and have been trying to get it working for NLHE 8max and PLO 6max from the pre flop street and neither work to my satisfaction.

I keep getting a message "ERROR: Out of Memory", so I have looked through this forum and found my Xmx value in the .ini file was set very low so I set it to 25g because my pc uses 32GB of RAM. That didnt help so I have been experimenting with different values higher and lower than 25g and none worked.

I will stick to NLHE 8max for now, when the status is on "mmnesteddriver.30" it then says the "ERROR: Out of Memory" message. This is when I add basic actions such as "ALL-IN", "MIN" and "Pot".

I set up a VM from Google Cloud Platform Test Bench and VM's with higher memory than my current pc are very expensive, I found the same problem with Azure but havnt yet looked into Amazon. But it occured to me that it might have something to do with the "mmnesteddriver.30" and not my pc's memory? My pc has a lot of RAM so maybe it isnt a hardware issue.
If I could get a helpful message on how to fix this problem please tell me, thanks!

My pc specs are:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6850K-CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60GHz
RAM: 32GB
System type: 64-bit OS
...and of course Windows 10 vers. 1903
it's an Alienware pc

ok thanks!

Is a 256gb ram / 32 core processor going to be enough for non-extreme NL cash scenarios? Will I be limited from more complex trees by the ram?

I want to run a PLO sim for 6max format with 100bb.
Preflop i want to allow only potsize raises and calls.
Postflop i want to allow every guy (when no bet is made so far) to bet 1/4,1/2,3/3 or pot.
Afterwards i want to allow raises of 1/2,2/3 and full pot as often as they want.
I am also not looking to limit the amount of players on the flop, turn or river.

What hardware would you suggest in order to be able to solve this?
How much ram and disc space is need. Which cpu do you suggest?

How long will this calculation approximately take until i get reliable results?

If the tree i am looking for is to hard to do for affordable hardware/servers these days what do you suggest to change in the described tree above to still get reliable results.

If i for example get a machine with 256 or 512 GB ram what do i need to change in the settings to assure to not ran out of ram?
Is there a way to see the estimated ram needed after i build a tree?
Is there a way to see how big the accuracy of the current solve is at?

When you create a tree, you can see the RAM requirements in the 'Settings' tab where it says 'Abstraction ()'. Most likely, for your use case, you simply didn't have enough available RAM. For long-term solving, I wouldn't recommend GCP (Google). For most use cases I would recommend getting an EPYC server with Contabo or Hetzner, or in some cases even building your own server/workstation.

I don't think you have provided enough info to answer that definitively, but I would say that the answer is yes, 256 GB RAM already get's you a lot of value for working on NL cash scenarios.

The tree as you described would require several terabytes of RAM to solve, and I don't consider it feasible at this time. I recommend reducing the amount of postflop bet sizes to one.

1. Is possible remove auto bet allin en all the scenarios postflop ??

ALLIN is in all the scenarios postflop (DONK, BET IP, PROBE, ETC)

https://gyazo.com/d5ab6962cd02345eb0c9073a5e8ff2f4

My tree setting is this : https://gyazo.com/7dc578219021f580c81398f4a9415d65

Blinds 50,100 - Stacks 4000

2. Is possible add a check action? I removed and cant add a check-check in limp pot and have to do the whole tree because i bad use the undo xD

3. How long time do u need for tree of 20gbs with a powerfull machine?

To Monker users:

I created a program that takes ranges copied from Monker and simplifies them so that there are no isomorphic (strategically equivalent) combos. In other words, AsKdKcJc and AhKdKcJc will be regarded as the same hand and only one of them will be left. It also orders all combos from higher to lower rank.

I also have a program that lets you type 4 ranks (for example, ak98) and choose the stack depth, position, and preflop situation and it will visually show which combos are a fold, call, or raise at what frequencies. Basically it's an easy way to search the strategy of individual hands across different stack sizes, because in Monker you have to open a different file for each stack size. The image below is for HUPLO hypers (and doesn't show position because the preflop situation is enough to specify the position), but it can be adjusted for multiway and deep stacked play.

DM me know if you are interested.

Hello there,

I tried to install MonkerViewer 1.2 for Mac but I'm getting an error that application can't be opened because the file is damaged. Downloaded several times in past month. Is there a way to make it work or is it straight up broken?
