IMO, It's more productive to purchase Preflop solutions / ranges and focus your time running Postflop sims.

Also, there is a new Discord group up for MonkerSolver Discussion.

Join Here: https://discord

I believe the reason why the skype group got infested with spam is because the link to the group was posted on a public forum so maybe it's not the best idea to also post link to the discord group?

Does anyone else experience that when saving a tree, the status bar doesn't progress anymore, such as this:

How can I know at what point the tree is actually completely saved?

Also - how can I achieve that after saving a simulation, closing MonkerSolver, and opening it again, then loading the save, it continues solving again?

I intend to run a rather big tree, for which I estimate a total of about 14 days solving time ... but I need to have a lot of breaks in-between, 12 hours here, 10 hours there etc, so it is essential that the saved solves resume, but whether I "stop" the run & save, or save the simulation while running, or "pause" the sim and save - I haven't been able to get them running after loading

It's finished when the circular icon thing stops spinning. I've also never been able to restart a sim even with regret enabled.

STOP(square icon)&SAVE means that you can't rerun computation.
PAUSE(II)&SAVE enables you to restart computation from saved point, or just lower threads to 0, and then save.

That's super weird. Windows, Linux, Mac? PLO, O8 or NL?

Do you uncheck "compress" when you save?

Hey,
I’m looking for predefined preflop ranges for 6max cashgames and checked the monker ranges. I can only find 5way, which would also be nice. But I don’t understand the tree. When first 3 players fold, the fourth player can only bet pot, see the attached picture.

Can anyone explain this or do I misunderstand this completely?

It also threw me for a loop ... when I click the "pause" button and then save, then close MonkerSolver and then open it, load the sim again, nothing moves, and "Run" is not available (it shows the "stop" square instead of the triangle).

But clicking the "+" sign under "Threads", and then choosing however many threads I like to clobber my CPU with, works. So in my case at least, the misunderstanding was that I thought I should be able to start the sim with "Run" again. Maybe this helps.

This means that the SB can only raise pot or fold first-in from the SB.

It is only allowed when the Pokerstars client is closed. Also explained on the Monkersolver website:

http://monkerware.com/viewer.html

"Some poker rooms, notably PokerStars, explicitly prohibit the use of this kind of software in real time. Always check with your poker room before using this software in real time."

I have ranges stored in the "ranges" subfolder of the MonkerSolver directory. I tried saving as "PPT", "Pio", even as "CSV".

However, the "Local" tab of the viewer does not show anything at all. How can I see ranges of my own calcs in the viewer?

Hi
I have downloaded the free version of monkersolver to check it out but the interface doesnt seem to be very user friendly.
So I am trying to solve a river spot for example but I can't figure out how to input the ranges and how to specify the action for the hand(tree?).
Can someone please point me to some tutorial for really basic use ?

thanks

For range input you can use generic syntax:

http://www.propokertools.com/simulations/generic_syntax

For creating game trees I would recommend using the 'custom filter' option and reading the tool tips that you see by hovering with your mouse over various options. The tool tips are spread throughout the software, and are generally useful.

In the solver, you need to right-click and export to monkerviewer.
You also need to put your monkerviewer.exe inside the /monkersolver/ folder.

If you purchased the Ranges, you need to make sure you keep the original directory structure. For 6max 100bb this would be /MonkerSolver/Ranges/Hold'em/6-way/100bb/

Do you guarantee that multiway equilibria computed by Monkersolver are unbeatable?

There is no such thing as an unbeatable multi-way equilibrium.

Is it possible to use the free version of Monkersolver to view purchased preflop ranges?

I have Monkerviewer but it is buggy.

No, because the free version is locked to turn and river solutions only.

One reason, for example, is because there is implicit and explicit collusion in multiplayer games. Also, there are situations in which one player can unilaterally increase his EV by changing his strategy. This is not the case in two player zero-sum games for example. For a more detailed explanation why this is the case, I would recommend reading chapter 29 "Three's A Crowd" from Mathematics of poker.

Anyone know where I should begin in my decision making process between renting cloud computing to run a bunch of postflop PLO sims OR purchasing someone else's premade sims?
to be clear - I already have 3 very good preflop PLO sims I purchased which are 100bb,50bb, and 25bb. they are all solved to over 3000 I/N. When I tried to run a simple postflop sim with my 32GB 4GHz computer yesterday it took like 6 hrs to just get 2 I/N. I've heard from some people that 6 I/N is a low threshold for a decent sim, but I don't really know if that is true. If that is true, then I could achieve the results I want by myself with my own home computer, but if it is not, then I'm going to rent a cloud beast to get those I/N way up there. Thanks in advance.

That does sound very slow for a <32GB sim. What is your CPU?
