Any comments or help on the build?

The threadripper you posted, do you have any experience with it? Do the 16 cores work well with monker? Where did you find the link or how do you know?
What about the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1900X 8 core (Octa Core) CPU with 3.80 GHz for half the price e.g.?

Regards
Highly recommend you go with a different cooler. This enermax
Is made specifically for tr4 and you will get significantly better temperatures. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B074Z...SPL&ref=plSrch

It's a large radiator so make sure it'll fit your case. Hard for me to check cause your links aren't in English.

I don't personally use the 1950x, but there are numerous people who run Monkersolver and PIO Solver on 1950x builds and that have benchmarked it using PIO Bench. It is probably your best value for money option when looking at workstation builds with 128GB RAM.

The link is from my blog.

I don't know how well the 1900X would perform. It is still usable, but will simply take longer to solve with. Since solve times are quite high in Monkersolver, the more you can cut it down, the better. Obviously there are budgetary restrictions to work with and perhaps getting an entry level CPU and then upgrading later is viable, but I wouldn't recommend it if avoidable.

Your build seems fine, except as coriolis pointed out, you will want to use a different cooler given the large size of the socket. The one from my build is the one you should be using (edit: You can use the 360mm version that coriolis posted as well, but it seemed unnecessary to me at the time of writing, since both perform well in overclocking. That's probably also why the effective price difference is small.):

Anyone knows if the email that they are providing in their main site as a contact for support works? I've sent three emails already, more than a week ago and still no reply...

The email is correct. Reports of successful contact attempts vary.

Hi ... I just bought MonkerSolver, without even trying the free version first, as I certainly want to have it ... only when I want to start MonkerSolver.exe, it shows this error message

only that I just downloaded the newest version of Java, and confirmed that I indeed run Java 1.8

What went wrong?

"new variable" -Xmx512M ... whatever that means didn't work for me

Are you sure you downloaded the 64-bit version of Java from Oracle's website?

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...s-2133155.html

This is the version you need to download:

Yep, thank you, I took this one, following the link from the MonkerSolver website (didn't have Java an my computer before at all) ... after several un-installs and re-installs and reboots, it somehow works now

No. It seems unlikely this would be added anytime soon, unless there is a large surge in the popularity of the variant.

Has anyone made preflop trees for 9max with antes? Feels like just making the tree would take hours :-(

I'm having a problem with memory error when Monker is using over 200gb of ram.

I use Debian 9, my computer have 256gb of ram, 252gb avaliable, I reserved 2 gb for the OS and have set xmx to 250.

My abstraction shows 222.2gb available, when my abstraction uses more than 160gb of ram, it shows out of memory error.

It seems like the total ram Monker can use is less than 200gb.

Is this normal or is this a bug in the monker software?

I have yes, and yes, it is very labour intensive, depending on how you want to the design of the tree to look like.

Try these settings, I think it should resolve the issue you are having:

java -Xmx250g -XX:+UseStringDeduplication -XX:+UseG1GC -jar MonkerSolver.jar -news

Greetings Monkersolvers!

I'm loving monkersolver but I'm also hoping somebody can help me out.

1) How much does RAM frequency matter? e.g. is there a noticeable difference in 2666 vs 3000 or 3000 vs 3400 etc?

2) If I have a tree that's about 220 gb big (on a server next week) will I be able to open it with 32 Gb RAM locally? (given it's compressed)

Any input is greatly appreciated!

..3)

Has anyone used any RAM disk software? Are those things recognized as ram or as storage by systems? Would love to hear some opinions before going off and trying it out!

edit:
nvm, even ssd's are probably super slow vs ddr4

Probably asked before, but whats decent amount of iterations? Is +10.0 iterations enough for preflop.

Just downloaded the free viewer, looking at the 25bb example, when I try to solve a board it says Free RA:360mb, Min Ram = 1322mb. I have 32gb of RAM with 19.4GB available per Windows 10 task manager. Help?

@1 You want to determine effective RAM speed, not just the frequency. You will need to look at benchmarks for comparison between RAM sticks that you are considering. Usually TridentZ RAM is cited as very fast RAM for DDR4, but what RAM sticks you can use depends on what are supported by your motherboard.

@2 Yes, you can view one street of a 220g solution with 32g of RAM, but not the entire solution.

10 I/N will not be enough, but that's the point at which the strategy starts to become reasonable, i.e. you can get a sense of what the final strategy will look like. For a more detailed view, try to solve til 30-50 I/N.

I'm unsure about the free version. You are probably already aware that it is limited to the turn and river only. You may also need to modify the .l4j file in the Monkersolver folder as described here:

For MonkerViewer you must use a Runtime Parameter.

Rename Monkerviewer.exe to Monkerviewer.jar
Make a .bat file (make a MonkerViewer.txt file, add the following Line then rename to MonkerViewer.bat)

java -Xms16g -jar MonkerViewer.jar

Run MonkerViewer.bat

Is there a way to add fixed betting sizes instead of bets given in percentages of pot? This would be helpful for limit games.

For limit game trees, from within the custom filter tool you want to work with 'BET' and 'Bet caps'. E.g. under 'Actions (%)' input 'BET' and set the 'Bet cap' to 4.

On a 256GB RAM machine, how long would it take to output solid preflop PLO ranges?
MonkerSolver Quote

Depends on the tree and the cpu. I have a 185 gb tree running for ~ 7-10 days or so now on a xeon 2630v4. It's at 6 iterations. So a couple of weeks probably.

Yes, At least 2 weeks for 6 max Sims.

IMO, It's more productive to purchase Preflop solutions / ranges and focus your time running Postflop sims.
