Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Thanks for testing. Glad to hear it's already better with the current beta, it should be completely fixed with the next update.

Holy crap...I know you said something about copy/pasting ranges a while back but I kinda forgot about it and didn't use it.

Just used it...what a game changer. Wow it's so nice to be able to just copy ranges from equilab.

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Is it possible to have an undo or back button?

An example would be when I edit a range then click best response, I would like to be able to have the range go back to where it was before clicking best response.

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

I'll see what I can do about undo, but probably not in the near future. In your example you could simply copy the range before hitting best response, then paste it back later. I believe this should even work without storing it elsewhere in the meantime. (Best response simply selects all hands with >= 0 EV btw, just in case that wasn't clear.)

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Hi everyone,

I use HRC since a few weeks and I have two very different questions :

1. I understand that it’s not a good idea to use the «*flat call*» option for advanced hands (because the tool will calculate that everyone will check every street postflop). Ok. Now I want to study a hand like : late game, everyone have 20bb, I minraise BU and BB shoves. I feel that in this specific situation, he will flat a LOT of hands. My question is : is the absence of flat call in this kind of situations invalidates the ranges of 3BET / call that are calculated ?

2. My second question is : I’m a Mac user, and HRC crashes everytime I try to import a tournament. I use the «*sierra laucher*» (my app did not settle on its own in the «*applications*» file). Like : since the begining the only way I can use the tool is by reviewing hands by hand (copy / paste). Is it a normal issue for Mac users ?

If a good soul answer me I thank him in advance, and I appologies for my english.

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Hi,

1) It's difficult if you think a lot of hands will be flatted. Your best option is to manually set the opening range and flatting range, and calculate the 3-bet line automatically after that. The opening calculation will always be tainted by the flatting line EVs, so you shouldn't rely on that. We are working on more complex Postflop modeling for the future.

2) Please try the beta version, OSX compatibility issues are fixed there:

Re: HRC - importing Pstars hand histories into HRC

Hi,

just started to have a look at HRC and wanted to import some hand histories from pokerstars - using the hand history files saved by Pstars software onto my laptop.

Does it support zoom cash game hand histories? Only when I try to import them, it doesn't seem to work..

appreciate any help/guidance

Thanks

What does HRC assume about post flop play? Does it assume we always check to showdown?

Postflop is assumed to be checked down, yes.

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Thanks for the response. Impressed by the speed

Thinking about post-flop assumptions off the top of my head....

Would assuming "check to showdown" possibly lead to undervaluing low pairs (which can hit sets and extract a lot of money) and suited connectors / AXs?

I'm guessing others have given this a lot more thought that I have. I'm thinking that maybe I could take HRC's calcs and maybe add in some drawing hands that HRC deems just barely -EV.

Thoughts?

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Generally speaking, players with the weaker range and/or out of position Postflop will have their hands overvalued when it's assumed to be checked down.

Still finishing up the Monte Carlo mode for now, but more elaborate Postflop models are on our radar for later this year.

Or the reverse - for example low pairs can often win unimproved if it checks down whereas in real play they often get pushed off by two overcards. Suited connectors often chase/semi-bluff then miss and end up losing far more than was initially put in pre-flop.

Recognising the limitations that will always be there, some way to take account of positional advantage is the main thing I'd like. Just thinking aloud maybe resplit the equity in the pre-flop pot 60-40 to the person in position - or perhaps 50-50 if the SPR is 0 (i.e. we're all-in), 55-45 if it's SPR 1, up to maybe 65-35 if it's SPR 10 or higher. Not sure what "resplit" means in this context when you already have hands. Maybe the guy in position should, instead of winning X hands, be considered to have won X*1.1 or 1.2 instead and his equity recalculated on that basis.

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Looks like the last update wasn't applied correctly. Please try to uninstall and reinstall from the website, that should fix it. Alternatively you can give the beta version a try.

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Shouldn't affect the calculations, but some settings and/or updates may not be saved correctly. Is that with the stable or beta version?

Did you install in a write protected location by any chance, e.g. C:\Program files\...?

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

There is currently no BB ante support, so you would need to enter the correct ante per player and manually adjust the stacks before posting so stacks after posting match the BB ante structure.

Can you send a screenshot of the hand setup dialog please? This can happen if more than 3 players are all in by antes/blinds.

I copied it straight from pt4 and get the same error message for any hand I try and run.

Re: HoldemResources Calculator [HRC]

Hm, I can setup that same hand without problems.

Try to copy the hand history from PT4 and paste it in the Basic Hand setup, ofr even set it up manually from scratch. If you still get that same issue then your installation might be corrupted, try to re-install the program in that case. Let me know if you still get the same issue after that.
