That said, my goal isn't necessarily to become a math wizard. I want to use the calculators like pretty much everyone else does: As a means of identifying how certain hands and ranges hit certain boards and board textures. My question was where would Flopzilla help someone who is already using PokerRanger and Equilab. Would it, or are the features that Flopzilla offeres generally contained within those two other programs at this point?

Thanks again!
Well, as you say: "I want to use the calculators like pretty much everyone else does: As a means of identifying how certain hands and ranges hit certain boards and board textures.". Flopzilla is geared towards that particular purpose, Equilab and Pokerranger are not.

How do they not? I'm not understanding what's different (although I do like your product here and am enjoying the trial). I can put in a range or a specific hand and see how often it flops what in PR and EQ, as well, no?

Well, a lot of people like Flopzilla for their range analysis. But if you like another product, go ahead and use that. That's what trials are for. When you asked your original question I decided to take ~10 minutes to give my 2 cents to a beginning player as to learn math before looking into calculators, however, I get the impression that you're looking for a discussion that's unfortunately a bit too time-intensive for me. Personally I prefer Flopzilla for range analysis (heck, that's why I wrote it) and many others do as well. But if you like another product, that's fine as well. So please just use the trials and make a decision for yourself.

Cheers,

Scylla

Believe me, I do appreciate your time and your posts. I'm sorry if I came across as attacking your product or you. I honestly wasn't. I've just spent the last hour or so watching all of the YouTube tutorial videos you made for FZ and getting more familiar with the software. I do see what you mean about it basically being great for quickly diving right into the meat and potatoes of what I said - How certain ranges/hands play on certain boards. I also do see a few things that FZ does that the others don't, like the hotness screen and the advanced filtering features which are surprisingly easy to understand and use.

As you saw in that other thread, I actually planned on just using Equilab for now and holding off on anything else for later. I'm definitely not spending $80 on PR at this point, that's for sure. Don't need it. FZ, though, I'll really take a look at here.

I see your current price is @ $35 USD for this. Any deals or specials that we should be aware of either now or on the horizon?

As said, I really do appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Flopzilla

I looked into this more and a) saw that the price has never changed and that there's obviously no specials running. Of course, this is already by far the most affordable software of it's kind. b) That this would definitely work well in tandem with Equilab for me. I went ahead and placed my order for Flopzilla and am currently awaiting email confirmation of my order.

Thanks again for your help. I'll be reading this thread (and others around) and learning how to get the most out of the software.

Ok, great! I've checked my records and if everything went as it should, your license should have been sent to you a few minutes after you made this post. Please contact support if that's not the case.

And that's exactly what happened. I received my license almost immediately and was able to plug it into Flopzilla and upgrade from the trial with no difficulties. I also went ahead and registered HoldEQ. Both products are working as intended.

Thanks again for your time this morning and I'll see you around the forums

Re: Flopzilla

Well, here I am about 36 hours later and I just wanted to report that I couldn't be much happier with my purchase. This is well worth the $35 registration cost. This combined with Equilab is a perfect fit for a player in my shoes and a great stepping stone to eventually moving up and using CREV.

As for Scylla's original suggestion that I spend time learning how to actually calculate these figures on my own with a pen and paper - I have started watching and downloading several video series online that pertain to exactly this and am incorporating more of this into my study routine. I'm both enjoying doing this and looking forward to the progress that this practice, as well as using software like Flopzilla, will yield for my game.

Thanks again!

Re: Flopzilla

Quick question: Is there a limit to the number of ranges we can store in Flopzilla?

Thanks

Re: Flopzilla

Sorry, it was too late to edit my last post: The other thing I'm wondering is if people generally use Flopzilla to compare their own ranges to different boards and hands. I know people typically take villain's range, plug it in, and then begin to see how that range hits certain flops and plays against certain hands. The program is just as effective for plugging in your own ranges and seeing how they play against certain flops and other hands in general, correct?

What I'm doing here is going through and plugging in all of my own ranges first and learning the software and what not that way and then later, as it will take far more time and I'll get more out of it by then, I'm going to input several villain's ranges from different positions and start calculating the numbers behind them, as well. Sound plan and how other people use the software as well?

There's no limit set in the software, no.

All you need to do is contact support for a new key.
There is no need to purchase again.

When requesting your key, please also include your hardware ID.

To get this ID:
1) Run Flopzilla
2) Select “register” from Flopzilla’s menu.

It’s the code that looks like 1111-2222-3333-4444-5555-6666-7777.

Re: Flopzilla

Hi Scylla, when you enter the data along with your hole cards, Flopzilla gives you equities and how often the range and the hand are best, but isn't it a bit misleading?

In my example below, the range has only a 7 high, however it is favorite over the hand, although Flopzilla is telling you the hand is best 100%

Am I missing something?

The stat "Hand is best" simply shows you which hand would win right now if no more cards were to come. And in this case that's AK.

I've downloaded HoldEq, very nice work... however, will pokerstove ranking method be available in the future?

It already is.
Under "Ranking method" select "LHE".

The dead cards getting reset when linked 2 FZ's 1 HE. It's crazy I put JJ as dead cards and it keeps getting reset to 2h. Running FZ=1.6.8, HEQ=1.0.4

Has this happened once, or does it happen every time?

Can you set dead cards in either of the Flopzilla windows?
If the issue is only with one of the windows, is it the blue or green one?

Can you alter the dead cards in HoldEq?

Re: Flopzilla

Tried it again and it happened 2nd time. Opened up HoldEq and connected 2 flopzillas to it. left it open for a few hours loaded some hand ranges and dealt out flop:

Ts 8c 7c
with Jc and Js as dead cards

switch some hand ranges... after a while it goes to 2h in flopzilla
and in HoldEq dead = 2h2h.

Ok, I'll take a look at it.
