I've never had this error reported before.
Could you try running as admin (rightclick the icon and select "run as administrator").
The "appropriate permission" problem might be caused by not having admin privileges.

Well, if that works, let me end this with a funny quote from the movie A serious man: "Accept the mystery".

I've just went to http://www.stoxev.com/flopzilla/flopzilla.htm, and I get a message from ZoneAlarm Extreme Security that says:

ZoneAlarm
WARNING: This site is dangerous
This site you have requested www.stoxev.com is known to distribute spyware.

So guys, remember, it never hurts to run software or your browser on a VM without data. I have to remember that too :-)

I'm the author of both flopzilla and stoxev, I personally code and encrypt the software, and I assure you I'm not distributing mallware of any kind.

Scylla, I'm pretty sure you are not distributing spyware (at least voluntarily, may be your web site got hacked, but if I have to say it will be 98% false positive, 1.9% something got into your web site, 0.1% you are distributing spyware voluntarily), but it never hurts to run them on a VM, and it never hurts you to contact ZoneAlarm to see the problem and if you can fix it.
If you want I can later capture the screen and send it to you.

The files I distribute on my website are encrypted.
Some virus scanners detect a false positive because of this, since viruses are encrypted in a similar way.
I can remove most false positives with the encryption settings, but some virus scanners keep detecting a virus, simply because they notice the file is encrypted; they don't even bother to check the file. If they don't even bother to check the file, there's nothing more I can do.
As for contacting ZoneAlarm, unless there is a significant number of (mainstream, reliable) scanners that are detecting mallware, this is clearly a false positive and not worth investing too much time.
I tend to put my faith in the significantly larger number of virus scanners that say the site and files are safe.

I haven't moved to a different PC or anything. Should I just download the latest from

http://www.stoxev.com/flopzilla/flopzilla.htm

and install/upgrade or is there something else I need to do?

Oh, I bought a license a while back -- this is not a free trial.

Yes, there was a slight issue with one of the older versions of Flopzilla.
Just uninstall and reïnstall the current version.
Then mail me the new hardware ID.

I can only refer you to post #233.

Also, I have compared the file that is online with the one I originally uploaded.
Yes, it's the same file.
Every single byte is the same.

I am the author of the software.
I am the only person involved in writing it and encrypting it and creating the installation file.

I have done all that I can do to remove the small number of false positives.
However, there's dozens, maybe hundreds of scanners out there.
A small percentage makes a misread.
Unless this percentage becomes significant I'm not investing more time/energy in this.

Go to the installation directory and remove the regkey.dat file.

Hi scylla! I enjoy your program, but I miss the option to give different weights to different hands. I know you want to keep UI simple and I think I found the way you can add different weights still keeping UI simple.

For example I have a range оf AA KK QQ AKs AKo and want to give 50% to AA KK and 80% to AKs AKo. Just let the user click "Use weight", choose 50% and then click AA, click KK, then chooose 80% on the slider and click AKs, click AKo. If user wants to remove assigned weight, he can just click hand with weight again - just like now, then he can assign different weight to hand. To differentiate between hands with different weights I suggest 2 variants: 1) to show % under the hand in lower right corner or 2) to show small bar under the hand - the longer that bar - the more % weight of the hand - you can also make a pop up text showing exact % when hovering over that hand. I personally prefer variant 1).

I make a picture as I see it. Variant 1: ATs have 10% weight. Variant 2: A7s has 50%, K7s 70%, K8s 40%, K6s 60%.

The website is currently being redesigned and the videos will be up again after that.
For now I've put them up on megaupload.
Go here for the links: http://www.stoxev.com/learn.htm

Hi idn,

I don't dislike it, I've just been very busy and forgot to answer.
As stated before, the website is currently being redesigned.
I'll be releasing a Flopzilla update when it's done and I'll try to implement different weights.

Thanks for the feedback,

Scylla

Ok, I'm done with implementing multiple weights.
I think you'll like it.

There's still a couple of things I need to change, but I'll post a beta tomorrow.
The coding was a bit harder than I expected, so I may have missed a spot here and there.

I'm reading this thread and I'm downloading the vidz.
I've just bought the tool for one reason : I want to put in a range, and then select some type of resulting hands with the flop (quads, gs, draws, ... whatever I want), then know how many time this range hits.
But I'm quite disappointed to see that this is what FlopZ does ... but for ONLY ONE RANDOM FLOP (clic on Random button). I'd like to evaluate my range against the whole range of flops. And I can't do that. If I want so, the only way is to do the following : hit 50 times the button [Random] then calculate the average. Is it accurate after 50 flops ? I don't even know, and I expect it is not. :-(

Your software could do that with very simple modifications. We select the number of simulations we want (for example 1000) then FlopZilla draws one random flop, does the calculation, stores it, then draws a second random flop, calculates, stores it, ... draws a 1000th flop, calculates, and stores result.
In the end, FlopZilla calculates the average and says : "ok your range hits (given your criteria) 32% against 1000 random flops".

It would be so useful in many ways ! And sorry if FlopZ already does it, but I can't find how.

ffork,

Click the "calculate preflop statistics" button in the column where the percentages usually display. (before entering any flop cards obv.)

Hello,

No such button on my GUI. And I think I have the latest version (just bought it).
Any help ?

if you select a preflop range the button will be where the StoxEV logo is. (note you have selected no range so there's nothing to calculate)
