One way to solve this would be to do this:

1) Let W be the biggest weight assigned (1 assigned by default to unassigned hands).

2) Calculate combo-number as now, but then divide by W.

3) Calculate percentage as combo-number divided by 1326.

The behavior I think you would want is where nothing changes if you just pick AA and then assign it random weights. It should return 6 combos and 0.4525%.

Or if you give all hands weight 2, it should return 1326 combos (not 2652) and 100%.

Of if you then assign AA a weight of 10 (and all other 2), it should return 270 combos [as in (6*10 + 1320 *2)/10] and 20.36%.

Nice, that sounds good. I'm hoping to get out a minor release this week and will aim to include this change, thanks.

Combonator vs. ICMIZER:
Can Combonator replace ICMIZER completely? I noticed there is a preflop range vs. range option in Combonator for registered version. However you can't set the stacks for SB and BB for HUSNG?

Combonator vs Flopzilla:
Can Combonator do everything that Flopzilla does?

Also lastly, I'm guessing Combonator can't replace CREV yet?

Cheers

(caveat: never used ICMIZER)

Firstly, there are no ICM calculations in Combonator. You cant set the stack sizes because there's no immediate push/fold calculator built in, or nash equilib or anything like that.

There's a calculator function that allows you to create arbitrary mathematical formulas, so you might be able to construct a preflop range vs range push/fold calculator, but i'm not sure exactly what you want to do.

I *believe* so but i haven't used Flopzilla in over a year. There very well could be new features in Flopzilla that i'm not aware of. I know there's a lot of features in Combonator that don't exist in Flopzilila.

Correct, and it's not going to, its outside the scope of the project.

Cheers. So essentially Combonator can replace equilab and flopzilla? Or does it replace more than just those 2 software?

My guess would be it does almost everything that flopzilla does (maybe in a different way though, features don't map 1-to-1; but the same 'answers' you get out of FZ you can get out of Combonator), 70% of what equilab does (comonator isn't an equity calculator per se - there are no postflop range vs range calcs, no multiway hands, no 'equity trainer' guessing thing), and does a ton of stuff that no other tool can do (except for cardrunners EV, which can pretty much do everything, it just takes a long time).

For the 'ton of stuff', the major thing unique to Combonator among these tools is the multiple group hand grid, which allows combination and equity calculations arbitrarily across up to 8 groups, with calculations done on the fly, auto-selections to quickly build postflop ranges, etc. It's much more exploratory because there's no calculate buttons

Fwiw, I and a bunch of other users that i've talked to use this as a 'study stack':

- Combonator as the go-to tool first, and that usually is the only tool you need for most 'questions' or general situation exploration

- Cardrunners EV if you want to get hardcore and run out simultaneous

- Equilab in reserve if you need multiway hands, postflop RvR equities etc. Make use of Combonator's one-hotkey to send ranges etc over to equilab when needed.

hey, I'm trying to run the free version on a windows 8 machine and it's not working. I'm getting "erros occured, see the logfile 'xxx' for details" but I'm not savy enough to understand and correct the problem. btw, I also tried to run in xp compatibility mode and as admin. Here's the log:

the program seems awesome and I'd be very happy buy the pro version as soon as I get the free testdrive working.

There's a problem trying to read in the configuration file of your PokerTracker 4 install. If you send it to me ( C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\PokerTracker 4\Config\PokerTracker.cfg) to nick@pokerfuse.com i'll be able to know more.

v1.75 is available. It fixes a bunch of annoying bugs. v1.74 was also a minor bug-fix release that was never released publicly.

I haven't updated the site with it yet, but you can download it here:

http://cdn1.pokerfuse.com/combonator...-175-setup.exe

note You may get a security warning trying to run this program. Chrome warns that is an 'uncommon file' and Avast warns it has 'low reputation'. The only reason for these warnings is that it's a new exe-file on the internet without much "reputation" to it. I'm confident there is nothing wrong with this build.

I'm hoping by releasing this first on 2p2 and elsewhere it can build up reputation and put a stop to these reports.

Thanks!

Will blog be back?

Thnx.

youtube channel has the manual:

Vimeo has some 'combonator in use', its a bit dated (old version of combonator used) but should still be relevant:

Just bought combonator, so I've lots of questions.

What's the best way to duplicate the range in one group in to another?
Players 1s groups are currently applied to player2s ranges, is there anyway to prevent this?
Is there a way to view player 1 and player 2s hand values simultaneously?
Is there a simpler way to switch between players than going back in to preflop mode? A hotkey would be nice.

Are there any plans to come up with separate ranges for each postflop street in a similar manner to how postflop/preflop modes are used?
I currently use groups for this but usually run out of groups as I also divide my ranges in to value/bluffs and it gets a bit messy by the time I get to the river.

On a two-tone flop, is there a way to isolate a 3-flush where your hand is suited? As far as I understand on say 9d6d3c a 3-flush includes a hand like Kd5s as well as QJcc. atm I've just been adding in 3-flush then manually deleting all the offsuit ones.

+1 the above and a one card nut 3flush filter would be cool.

Sorry for not seeing this before. Currently I can't think of a way to do that. Agree that would be a nice filter to have.

Nice job! Maybe you could make a free 3-5 or 7 day trail for users to see if they like the pro version or not.

Unfortunately only paypal right now. We're working to add skrill/moneybookers as an option soon.

It's something we've considered by it would make the licensing system much more complicated (right now it's very hands-off, doesn't "phone home" etc, but adding in time-restrictions would necessitate that). I think the free version + the videos on youtube should give a good indication of the feature set.

Might have been mentioned before but where would you believe your program excels vs it's concurents (flopzilla, pokerranger etc)?
