I didn't interpret it wrong, I think

I was just thinking that it's indeed very hard to get a fast + intuitive tree together, because there's so many different lines possible.

the current layout also uses a lot of horizontal screen real estate, which makes you lose a lot of time scrolling back & forth

maybe a grid would be more intuitive, where you can click certain actions (lemme try some paint skillz)

edit: didn't need painting skillz, just a google for "MCU poker charts", you know, the ones that Mike Caro introduces in his "Caro's book of poker tells". With some tweaking, I think these are ideally suited for an EV calculator?

they are probably only good to test one line at a time, because they miss the ability to "fork" though

I'll upload it to the stoxpoker site as soon as I get hold of the admin. Once that is done you can also get the program by going to the link in the first post in this thread.
once again i am to retarted to get the download to work. I keep geting that dang flashtemp0 file whatever that is. I tried the link in the op but i guess you have not contacted the site admin as i get the file that expired on the yesterday.

Sorry about that.
I've been pretty busy lately.
File is now uploaded.

Yes, I made the choice for horizontal since many pokerplayers have a setup of two or more screens.
If I had gone with vertical other problems would have arisen. The simple fact of the matter is that these trees can get big. I don't think there's really a way around it.
An alternative would indeed be to display only parts of the tree in some way at the cost of transparancy.
I think for very large trees it will always be a balancing act (small to medium sized trees work really great though, imo).

Currently I'm holding off making any alterations to the program until the outcome of the engine improvements I'm working on are clear.
Depending on the outcome I can take the program in different directions.

I don't understand well what is the import hand function's purpose.

I thought it was that. You create your own tree with wished criteria and import a hand. If a criteria is different from the hand, then like a different preflop raise, then the tree change his preflop bet to the real preflop bet. etc

But when I import a hand, I have my tree and a note icon in the upper left with the hand in. It seems useless. May be I am missing something.

The current purpose of hand import is to save you a lot of clicking and typing (with an always present chance of making a mistake) to enter the actions in the hand, blindsizes, stacksizes, etc.
Future versions will likely have additional options to make manipulating the tree quicker.

i don't know how much trouble it would be but it would be really cool if you could make it so that we could put in a persons pf raising range then open the hand chart and every time we put the cursor on a hand the ev and equity would pop up.

I'm not sure I understand. Isn't that already there?
When you hover over the EV field of a decision the EV of each starting hand is shown. If you press Alt+E the equity is shown (the Alt+E toggle to equity is new and not shown in the pic below).

Make a tree.
Perform an EV run.
Move your mouse over the EV field below a decision button.

To toggle to equity, press alt+E while the EV popup is showing.

i got what you are talking about to scylla but it isn't exactly what i'm talking about. In this instance i am only concerned about the equity of indivisual hands versus the villans PF raising range.

ok in the pic below i have given villan a pf raising range and did an equity run for AA

simple enough but lets say i want to find the equity for AA,KK,QQ. Now as far as i know i must to a EQ run for AA then clear out AA then go back into the add condition section then select KK then so on and so on. What i am wanting to do is to be able to just put in villans raising range then select call then open a hand chart hover over any hand then see the EV and EQ for that hand. scylla i know you might be saying i just explained that but it isn't exactly the same. The way you explained it forces me to do a entire tree. While i want to do a eq run that relies only on the villans pf range and ignores post flop tendacies

Yes, I added the equities to the EV field, thus requiring an "entire tree" to get results.
Basically I did it in this way because it was the difference between 1 hour of work and 1 or more days or work (see post 184).
To get what you're looking for is easy enough though.
Let utg go all in with the desired range and have UTG+1 call him with all hands. Presto! An entire tree!

You'll have a matrix with the equities for all hands.

Not in this version, currently only the graphs are linked to excel.
I could add it for the EV and equity popups though.

ok here is a pic of the excel sheet i am working on. My goal is to filter in pt for all players that have atleast 5k hands then get the equity of every hand against each persons raising range from every position.

Is the top % in the first row and currently out of sight?

Anyhow, still looks like a lot of work.

Would it perhaps be easier if you would make a couple of matrixes for different top X% of raising ranges?

For instance below is the table for the equities against the top 9%:

Then do that for a couple of raising ranges, like 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, etc. Anything between you should be able to extrapolate pretty easily.

each cell contains a hand and it's EQ versus the villans pfr range. I didn't actually put villans pfr on the sheet just each hands equity versus that range. Anyway i guess their is no way for me to automate poker ev and excel so i can letr them do the work

No, I believe there is.
I'm just trying to figure out with you how to do it.
What I'm proposing is that I make an excel output which will allow you to copy paste the contents of the EV/equity popup to excel.
What you can then do is make the popup for several preflop raising ranges and make a separate sheet in excel for each percentage.

That would do the trick, wouldn't it?

that would work just fine also i just thought of a quick and dirt solution as far as what i am trying to do just make a chart then screen capture and save it and keep it on my hd then when needed i could just open the file. As far why i wold want to do this ub is in fested with ultra short stackers actually min stackers that buy in for the min and only fold or push pre flop

I think for that purpose screencaptures would be fine.
I'll just leave out the excel output then.
Unless you really want it.

honestly now that i know how to make a chart i don't really need excel output but others may want it. A excel pro could run loads of queries.

Yeah, you're right.
If I can find the time I'll add it for 1.1.6.
It's not that much work if I recall correctly.

Hi guys,

1.1.5 expires today.

Go here for 1.1.6.

For those of you who have trouble getting it there, go here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1NT48NFP

I'll post it on stoxpoker as soon as I can get the admin.
Saturday does not appear to be a good day to try and get hold of him

New in 1.1.6:
- EV popup can now also display equity. To do so, hover over the EV field and press Alt+E.
- You can now make a graph with 2 variables. Just make a graph and you can choose between one and two variables.
- Memory efficiency for tables has improved. Some people with 512Mb memories couldn't cope with the 600Mb tables. Shouldn't be a problem now.
- Graph output can now be exported to excel. Click the yellow E in the graph menu. It ain't pretty but it works.
- The output in the EV popup (or equity or absolute amount of money, whatever it is displaying at the time) can also be exported to excel. Press Alt+O while the popup is displayed.

Bugfixes:
- In multiway pots, for instance AA versus 2 random hands, AA openfolds flop, the two random hands should have 50% equity but incorrectly asumed AA was in the hand until the turn.
- F9 in the EV popup now also toggles to absolute money for the starting hands
- Small display bug in graphs. Negative numbers between 0 and 1 were displayed as positive.

Tip:
I've had some requests from people researching heads up play to add an option where the SB is deducted from the EV (if you requested this, you'll know what I'm talking about). It just occured to me that all you have to do is go to game properties and set the small blind to $0. Problem solved!

Glatt!

Scylla
