In one hand you lose on average 47 cents or in other words 0.1175BB (where BB is big bets, not big blinds).
That means that in 100 hands you lose on average 11.75BB, so you're losing 11.75BB/100 with your strategy.

Other way around.

If you were to play a game with villain, where every hand you'd be the small blind and he'd be the big blind, you'd be losing 11.75bb/100.

I am buying a new computer. I presume my old license will not work on my new computer. Is there a way to turn in your old license for a new one?

Just send me an e-mail with your new machine ID.

I'm afraid toggles only work in the commercial version.

loving this program so far. i generally have a tough time dealing with programs like this so i want to make sure i am doing this right.

i am analyzing SB v BB encounter 1/2 game with the BB being a shortstacker. i am trying to find the best open shoving range vs 20BB.

so far i have a +.68 strategy by open shoving 35% of my hands with BB calling his top 20%......now i can make that +.68 higher by dropping some of the lower hands in my range, but StoxEV shows them as profitable on the pop up. what am i missing here?

if/when i buy commercial version are you available for private tutoring of the software (willing to pay of course)?

Not entirely sure what you mean here, but it sounds like it could be due to card removal. For instance removing 76s would make it more likely for villain to hold 7x and 6x and such.

Incidentally, in the commercial version StoxEV can work out your unexploitable shoving ranges at the push of a button, so this entire process is automated. You just need to set a checkpoint where you wish to shove or fold (using F10 and then pressing the appropriate decision button) and then press the AI button.

I'm afraid I don't have the time, but I explain how to use StoxEV in the tutorial vids. See the link in the startup screen. Should the link not work for some reason, go to "help->video manual". The videos are hosted by www.stoxpoker.com, and are available to non-members.

There's also a written manual. Again, the link is in the startup screen as well as under "help". Should this not work, you can manually find the files in the directory "StoxEVtutorial" in the StoxEV installation directory. Just double-click on manual.htm and your browser should load it.

Hi, i was wondering how do i add only 2 combos of a hand in someones pre-flop opening range? so he only opens the hand half the time.

Thanks.

Use weights.
It's the button that reads "100%".
If you want different weights for different handtypes, you'll have to create individual conditions for them with each their own weight.

Thank you.
Do i use the closest %? like, if i wanted 1 combo of K9o which would be 1/12 so 8.33333333, id use 8%?
2 combos: 1/6: 16.66666: 16%?

Also, how do i choose which hands he cbets? It brings up a different menu post-flop. If i know the guy will c/c with A9o and cbet A7s on a 235r flop, do i just have to keep adding different conditions for each hole card? seems like it would take longer to use the program than use paper..

That should work fine, yes.

Generally, after the flop people will tend to bet handtypes, like top pair and such. You can define which kinds of made hands in the first section of the postflop menu. Draws in the second section. In the third section you can define holecards if that's what you prefer. There's also a matrix button there where you can select specific hands. That's probably what you're looking for.

I think it's best that you either watch the video manuals or read the tutorial. For both there's links in the startup screen.

If for some reason the link to the written tutorial doesn't work for you, go to the installation directory and into the subdirectory "StoxEVtutorial" and manually start the file "manual.htm".

Hi guys,

I've just posted a beta for the next release of the commercial version.

New version includes:
- Toggles for selecting the top/bottom % of a condition. Toggle is Alt+[ and Alt+].
- Improved unexploitable shoving when having the option to check behind on the river. You will now push your top X% and bottom Y%, while checking the showdownable hands in between behind.

Official release will be in a couple of days. I'm first releasing the beta so that any minor bugs will be detected in an early stage and the transition will be smooth.

Go there for the beta:

Cheers,

Scylla

Hi there. I just bought the commercial version, and am very impressed. Is there any way to import Ongame hands, either through the direct text file, or through Poker Tracker 3? If not, is it possible you could add this feature?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

I'm afraid I'm too busy at the moment to add a new site to the imports.
If you have HEM, (maybe also PT3), it's possible to export all hands in it in party poker format (in StoxEV, just select HEM).
This means that if you use HEM any site supported by it can be imported.

Cheers,

Scylla

Hey Scylla,

Just want to check with you before I go and mess something up. I recently had to reinstall Vista on my laptop so I dl'd the StoxEV software again from your website. Before the reinstall I just copied my StoxEV folder to my external hard-drive. Can I just copy everything in that folder back over and be good to go or will I need to get a new registration code/file?

Cheers.

Hi WillyT,

Your hardware hasn't changed so there shouldn't be any problem when copying the old content.
Let me know if you need any assistence.

Hi Scylla, I was gonna buy stoxev awhile ago but was disappointed when I realized it only came with 1 key, so I've waited for my new laptop to arrive before I buy it, since I can only use it on one machine and I'll be using my laptop mostly now.

I plan on running stoxev in a windows xp virtual machine under linux, but I'm wondering if I'll have trouble if I try to reinstall stox ev on a new windows virtual machine, in case I want to upgrade windows at any point, or if my virtual machine crashes for some reason. I'm not sure how the copy protection works, but if it looks at the hardware will it think I'm on a different PC if I want to install stoxev on a new windows virtual machine?

Hi Sharpie,

I'm going to have to forward your mail to the encryption company, so you may have to wait a few days for an answer.

Cheers,

Ok, reply received.

It's a bit long but it basically says that running on virtual machines may well result in all sorts of troubles due to the encryption not being too fond of non-existent computers. So basically I'd disrecommend running StoxEV on a virtual machine.

One feature I would like to see is a new action condition like " call if pot odds are X/1" because when we build a tree and experiment with stack sizes, we can get unrealistic situation like a fold on river when pot odds are 1/10 for example.
