Whenever you look at a hand history from HEM it's automatically converted to Party format.

In order to prevent confusion I've added the HEM import option which is exactly the same thing as Party.

Is it possible to assign variable to postflop range?
Here is what im trying to solve:
I 3bet preflop with QJ, cbet 965r flop, villain calls
Turn: T, i check

Villain will bet part of his value range (that he didnt raise on the flop), and x% of his floats.
When he bets im check/raising all-in. I need to know minimum x% for c/r to be profitable.
If I could assign variable to his floats, and then make EV run I could get breakeven x%.

Any idea how to do this?

Step 1) Assign x% as a percentage to his misses.
Step 2) Make a graph by varying x and check what the breakeven % is.
Step 3) Enter this % as the number under variables and recompute with F7, check what % of hands this comes down to.

How to do step 1?

Situation is as follows:
on the turn after I check, he has TP+ (">=TP" on the flowchart) 20% of the time, and floats 50% of the time (say gutshot or better ">=GS"), he checks down rest of hands.

I want to assign variable to his floats, so if x = 100% (variable) then he bets all of his floats 100% of the time (which is 50% of his range), if it is 25% then his floats are 25%*50% = 12.5% of his range.

I can set it up manually by clicking on condition ">=GS" and putting x% in the weight field, but there is no way to assign a variable to it.

This is what I need to assign variable to:

Put #1 in the weight field to assign variable number 1.

I got an "MFC application error" about every third time I use it to calculate unexploitable preflop shoving (HU) with different stacks.
And how can I select my cards? (not a range, but an exact hand I hold)

Yes, if you do unexploitable shoving twice or three times in a row the program tends to crash. Can't for the life of me figure out why. The rest of the program is pretty stable though, I can't remember the last time it crashed for me.

As for how selecting your own cards, are you referring to unexploitable shoving here? Because that only makes sense with range versus range.

Hi scylla, once again, very nice program. Have a couple of questions

1. When doing unexploitable shoving is there a way to eliminate part of the shovers range that we know he will call with.

For example lets say Im looking at a preflop scenario HU, where sb opens all hands, BB 3bets X%, and I want to find what the SB can shove unexploitably. However I want the program to know that the SB will always slowplay QQ+ preflop, and never shove them. Is there a way to tell the program to find the unexploitable shoving range while eliminating QQ+ from the initial range thats available to shove 4bet?

2. Is there anyway to make the monte carlo mode more accurate when I need it to be. There are situations where the std dev is too high for my liking, especially when the ev is close to zero( meaning it would be a tough decision without more accuracy)

Sure, just don't select QQ in his opening range.


You can do that by increasing the number of trials.
Go to "Options->Run settings" and increase the number under "Runs x 1000".

You can actually figure that out by varying villains calling range.

Preflop:
Attach a variable to villains top X% with which he calls and make a graph by varying this variable.
Then:
Measure the EV of your shove.
Find the % at which the EV is 0.
Enter this number for the variable.
Recompute with F7.
You'll now get to see what % villan calls and what % folds.

Postflop:
Let's say whether your EV behing + or - depends on whether villain does or does not call with middle pair.
Attach a weight to middle pair.
Make a graph by varying this weight from 0% to 100%.
Find the % at which your EV for the shove is 0.
Enter this number for the variable.
Recompute with F7.
You'll now get to see what % villan calls and what % folds.

Ok, i tried a simple situation to figure out the preflop FEQ needed to make a shove profitable.
I set up the following theoretical situation :
- UTG raises 100% of his Range
- UTG+1 pushes 100% of his Range
I want to figure out how much FEQ i need to make this play +EV

(first i started with a standard Squeeze-Spot, but that didnt work either..)



Problem is : There is no % w/ EV = 0.
Which point do i miss ?

are there any plans to expand the unexploitable shoving tool to more than just HU situations. Like mostly for tournament scenarios where say you are utg and want to know what u can shove unexploitably.

First of all, sorry for my late response. This post somehow slipped under my radar.

No such plans and it would in fact be extremely difficult to do this.
Second of all, please be aware that unexploitable shoving needs to be treated a bit carefully in tournaments.
Unexploitable shoving asumes that villain does not call with his -EV hands.
Why is this important?
Well in cash games, it's not. If villain calls with his -EV hands that means more money for you, no problem.
But in tournaments, when villain makes -EV calls this will also be -EV for you and it's the other players that profit.
For that reason unexploitable shoving can't really be applied in tournaments in a straightforward manner.

i just downloaded stox ev and it's not working for me. when i try to open it it closes down after a few seconds. i get a warning window that says my trial date has expired. i had my date set on my computer when i downloaded it. i fixed the date and un/reinstalled it and it still wont work. can you help me? i have vista and run as admin every time i try it.

Once you've done anything to change your date the security software won't accept it anymore and you have to wait for the next version.

Question: Does the program say at startup "This copy of StoxEV will expire at the end of Februari" or does it say Januari?
