DH2 vs PT4, and opinions about Player X-ray DH2 vs PT4, and opinions about Player X-ray

Looking for opinions on Drive Hud 2 and Poker Tracker 4, because surprisingly, I could not actually find a lot of information out there from the end user comparing the two. I have tried the DH2 free trial, but I am hoping to glean more information from long term users who have passed the honeymoon phase.

Like most people, I do not have unlimited access to money, and I am trying to make an educated purchase with my incredibly limited Poker bankroll. I really love the game, and am kind of a stats nerd, so buying software like this is a no brainer for me, but we are quite blessed with options these days. I want to make the right decision, because I can't really afford to buy more than one program; so even if I am not completely satisfied with what I buy, I will likely end up stuck with it.

I would be so grateful to anybody that is willing to take the time and help me out with this by providing testimony regarding the efficacy of the aforementioned software. I have received so much helpful information here at twoplustwo since I've joined, and I really respect the opinions of the wonderful people I've met here.

I am specifically looking for the following information from people who have utilized either software for at least 6months:
  • Customizability, and the amount of trackable stats displayed by HUD
  • Accuracy in recording HH and stat tracking (how often do you need to go back and manually edit something, provided you even remember what it actually was)
  • Amount of and usefulness of features (in your opinion)
  • Value for money (I really hate paying annually for software)
  • Appearance (Is it nice to look at?)
  • Amount of information/tools that can be used to improve your game, and how that information is presented
  • Compatible poker sites (can I still use it to track HH on sites that ban HUDS or do not save HH locally?)

I would also really love to hear from those of you who have used the Player X-ray software addon that you can buy with DH2 (the one that takes notes for you) as well as Leakbuster. I was able to find even less information from the consumer about these two. Everything I read was directly from the company selling them and obviously they are biased. Are the notes provided quality? Is it worth the money? Has it helped your game?

Again, thank you all in advance!

I think DriveHUD2 will be a better deal for you. The population reports and heat maps are very user friendly and FreakDaddy (the creator of the software) posts regularly on the forum.

He is also very helpful and quick to respond in the questions thread in the software forum.

I'd recommend DriveHUD2 over PT4 every time.

I made the switch from PT4 to DH2 about 3 years ago and haven't looked back. I'll do my best to answer your questions

Customizability, and the amount of trackable stats displayed by HUD
The HUD is extremely customizable. They have a store where you can download a bunch of free and paid HUDs, and they are adding new stats all the time.

Accuracy in recording HH and stat tracking (how often do you need to go back and manually edit something, provided you even remember what it actually was)
Don't think I've had to go back and manually edit something.

Amount of and usefulness of features (in your opinion)
There are a lot of features I found very useful. I use the population report and range report on the daily.

Value for money (I really hate paying annually for software)
There is an annual license renewal for DH2, but it's super cheap $9.99 is what I paid for my last renewal. Personally I think it's worth it with everything it offers in addition to the frequent updates and solid customer service.

Appearance (Is it nice to look at?)
This is subjective. I like the way DH2 looks, but I also had no issues with PT4

Amount of information/tools that can be used to improve your game, and how that information is presented
As I mentioned earlier, the population and range reports are extremely useful and easy to use.

Compatible poker sites (can I still use it to track HH on sites that ban HUDS or do not save HH locally?)
Should work with all the major sites. Not sure about your question about sites that ban HUDs.

To be honest, I'm leaning more to DH because I've been using it for years now.

Customizability, and the amount of trackable stats displayed by HUD
About the same for both, you can have as much stat you want on your HUD.
Both are pretty customizable. You can create any stat you want.

Accuracy in recording HH and stat tracking (how often do you need to go back and manually edit something, provided you even remember what it actually was)
You don't have to edit anything for cash game.
For MTT, you don't have to do manually edit any sites that provide hand history but for sites that does not provide hand history, you will have to edit/add your winning.

Amount of and usefulness of features (in your opinion)
In terms of built-in features, there are a lot more in DH2 out of the box. PT4 on the other hand has been out for a long time and has more compatible 3rd party app available in the market.

Value for money (I really hate paying annually for software)
DriveHUD is subscription base, so depending on your license, you will have to pay around $4.99~$9.99 after the first year
PT4 is a one time purchase for the license. After purchasing the license, you get a free 1-year support & maintenance (updates) After your annual sup&maintenance expire, you can still use PT4, but you won't be able to update it until you renew the annual sup&maintenance.

Appearance (Is it nice to look at?)
For appearance, it will really depend on personal preference.

Amount of information/tools that can be used to improve your game, and how that information is presented
Both software shows the information on both graph and report, you can set filters to show specific data you want to see or analyze.

Compatible poker sites (can I still use it to track HH on sites that ban HUDS or do not save HH locally?)
Out of the box, DriveHUD support more sites and can track sites that does not provide hand history. You can also do this in PT4 by getting 3rd converters. Both support app do not work on ban HUD sites

pretty much everything said here... I've used both, and have stuck with DH2 (nothing against PT4, it's great software as well!). I do really like the fact that if I have any questions, FreakDaddy is very active in these forums, and usually responds very promptly.

Aha I have seen his posts before! I wasn't sure if he was a customer rep or the owner, so that's good to know.

Thanks for weighing in DooDooPoker.

A lot of great information here, I wasn't sure if I had to pay yearly for both but I see that it's just DH2. A little disappointing, but it's much better knowing that it's not a full price (~$50) annual fee but closer to 5-10.

Thank you very much aprogle!

Another +1 vouch for FreakDaddy and his creation. Thanks for sharing your experience WSPreadHead.

So far DH2 has overwhelming support, and I was leaning towards DH2...

Does anybody have any experience using the Player X-Ray addon that they package with DH2?

Good questions in your thread. If you ever need support we have a support thread in this sub, and also near 24/7 email support, and on site chat support 5pm-9pm PST every day.

I just wanted to make a comment about the pricing. Both PT and DH2 have annual renewal fees. This is to support all the site update maintenance and support fees. DH2 tops out for the pro version at $9.99/yr, with micro stakes being only $4.99/yr. I don't want to misquote other products pricing, I know PT's starts at around $29.99 and goes up from there. It's unavoidable for this kind of product because of all the site updates.

And thanks everyone for the kind words and support!

Well if it isn't the man himself!

Regarding the pricing situation, I suppose that is reasonable and understandable.

While I have you here, is there any way to try the Player X-ray Pro before committing to the small stakes holdem baller package?

I have both but i personally prefer the population reports on DH2. Custom stats are also easier to use imo. Its also easier to set up player position.

One thing I don't really understand is the difference between a "bad LAG" and a "tricky LAG" is like 2% vpip and pfr? Is that 2% alone really enough to determine if someone is bad or tricky?

X-ray has a fully functional 30 day trial. You just have to open and run it once w/ your trial of DH2.

3-bet and AGG are also slightly different. You can edit and change any of those ranges for player profiles, including deleting or adding your own.
