today I've got problem with updating PartyCaption as BitDefender says it' got gen.variant.strictor.240116 Trojan. I can run older version after adding it to exceptions but cannot update.

Finally I've been able to update PartyCaption somehow. BitDefender still treats PartyCaption as a dangerous program. Weird, because I haven't got that problem before..

Hey, i want to have a HUD and on party that displays the current blind levels. I thought it was this tag "[TL_BlindsLevel]" but it shows the blind level number, so if its level 2 blinds 100/200 the hud displayed "2" rather than 100/200.

Is there another tag or is this an mistake?

I believe this is a false alarm. You can add it to antivirus exclusions or use any of previous versions. I hope in the next version it will not happen.
False alarms happen from time to time, and I can do little with it. PartyCaption does a lot of suspicious things, so antiviruses react to this from time to time.

This is a random thing.
I upload every version to virustotal.com and it can be different resulst from one build to another. I try to achieve a result close to zero there, but sometimes the antivirus does not immediately start responding to the program, but only after a couple of days (I have no idea why).

There are set of tags for blinds and ante - [SB],[BB] and [Ante]
If you want to display just blinds, then use this:
[SB]/[BB]
With ante it will be
[SB]/[BB]-[Ante]
Or you can display just [BB] if that's enough for you.

Hi, I have the same issue with partycaption and bitdefender but I am unable to make partycaption work. I tried to add it in the antivirus exceptions list but every time I try to run it, bitdefender again shuts it down and adds it to quarantine list. Also I tried to run 5-6 older versions of partycaption but it now keeps detecting all of them as a virus. The only way to run partycaption is to disable the antivirus completely. It's very strange since those older versions were working just fine until yesterday but now it seems that every version of partycaption that I try to run is considered by bitdefender as a virus and adding it to the antivirus exclusions list doesn't help. What should I do? I don't want to disable the antivirus completely when I play poker. Thanks for your help and your great program btw.


EDIT. I also want to add that the only way that I was able to install any version of partycaption, was to disable the antivirus completely.

Yes, this is very strange. It seems there was some update in the antivirus recently and for some reason it began to react to PartyCaption (although there are no viruses there).

I haven't Bitdefender, but I'll try to investigate what I can do with it via virustotal.com
What kind of exceptions do you have in Bitdefender there? I think I should be not a file scanner, but 'trusted process' or something like this (most likeky Bitdefender doesn’t like the behavior of the program).

Do you have any settings of this sort there? I think you can try to check this and this settings. Let me know if it helps.

Thanks for your help. Yes it seems that after a recent bitdefender update, it has started blocking partycaption regardless of which version I am using. But it doesn't seem to be like a normal block that you are able to reverse through some simple settings.

About one month ago while I was playing, bitdefender shutdown partycaption and the poker client and I received a virus warning. Then I added partycaption in the exceptions list of the antivirus and selected it as an allowed application in the firewall module. I even added it in the exceptions lists of the two separate modules that your two above links refer to. Since then I didn't have any such issue again till yesterday. Therefore as it stands right now, partycaption is set as an allowed application in every possible bitdefender setting that I know of and it's still getting blocked and quarantined about 30 seconds after I try to open it and it even detects the partycaption shortcut on my desktop as a virus and deletes it. So the only way to run partycaption, is to disable the bitdefender antivirus module but even then I don't know if another module tries to block it after some time.

Finally yesterday I also contacted bitdefender support and they asked me to send them the detected software file but I still haven't received a reply from them. Again thanks for your help.

It works for me now but I did several weird things.. First of all adding to exceptions and adding to firewall list. After that I was able to click update and during instalation BitDefender still removes PartyCaption.exe and it is "ok" as rest of files are installed. I was lucky as BitDefender asked me if I want to add exception to firewall also. After that I go to the quarantine and there is a new updated PartyCaption.exe which I have to bring back from there. After that operations it works because when I remove from quarantine (and not update it anymore) BitDefender allows program to work...

But after each update you should do the same with Bitdefender probably until it is solved..

I had all those settings set just like you for over a month in order for partycaption to work properly. Additionally I even had partycaption set in the exceptions of the Ransomware Remediation module. The only thing different in my case is that my partycaption installation folder is the C:\PartyCaption. But nothing worked this time and I still haven't received a response from bitdefender support. It seems that I just have to wait for bitdefender to fix this.

EDIT: FINALLY after 3 days a new antivirus update seems to have fixed this. However it still recognises the partycaption.exe as a virus (Gen:Variant.Strictor.240116) but this time it seems to respect all the exception lists of the various bitdefender modules. I still may not completely like this but at least I'll be able to use partycaption again. Thanks for all the help.

Likely only few virus engines on virustotal.com recognise partycaption.exe as a virus here and the vast majority of them have it as safe to use.

Unfortunately a new bitdefender update broke things again and I can't use partycaption without turning off the antivirus. I'm at a loss and I don't know what else to do.

I've heard a bit about StarsCaption but still don't know that much about it. Can someone give me a quick rundown of what it can do, especially if it can do anything that Starshelper can't do. Can Starshelper and StarsCaption be used together easily enough?

Try to replace PCaption.exe in PartyCaption folder by this file.

BitDefender detects anything in this file on virustotal.com, so I hope it will work for you.

I think StarsCapiton can do about 95% of what StarsHelper does, so in most of cases you don't need to use both of them (although you can).

StarsCaption can do most of things that PartyCaption does - for example it can display many things in HUD including different tournament info (your position in tournament, number of ITM positions, etc - there are about 30 or 40 different tags specifically for tournaments, and StarsHelper has nothing like this).
I don't know what kind of games do you play and what options you use, but StarsCaption has many useful things and I constantly adding something new.

Also StarsCaption supports Aurora engine (StarsHelper doesn't), and it allows to modify all table fonts there.

Wow, that was a fast reply. I'm just playing Spin & Gos lately. I was mainly interested in taking a look at StarsCaption because it has an automatic spin registration function which Starshelper doesn't. Also see that StarsCaption can display a person's country, which is a useful extra I think.

I am just worried that Starshelper and StarsCaption might interfere with each others operations and that already seemed to be the case. In Starshelper I removed the Windows title, as I just downloaded StarsCaption today I haven't changed the setting there yet, but the table graphics seemed to get a bit distorted and I'm guessing it's because of the different settings.

Edit: Yeah once I removed table title bar in StarsCaption, there wasn't a problem.

baztalkspoker, yes - AFAIK Table cropping is only one option in StarsCaption that can interfere with the same option of StarsHelper. All other options can be used in any combinatons.

You have HUD / Hide board if hero all-in enabled - turn it off if you don't need it.

You have strange filter in a first line:
10<bb≤10
With a such filter this line will not work at all, try to remove it.
