I mean sure its a joke....but having one of your sponsored players making racist jokes on a public internet site against three different demographics cant be a smart business model. On top of that bringing more light to it on a public forum was probably a poor decision. Might want to do a little PR training with your reps.

How do you feel about Dan's comments, and his refusal to apologize? Also what are your thoughts on this incident as a representation of Victory Poker?
I went to Dan Bilzerian's house after Joy Miller yelled at me for 2 days in a row.
He willingly text her 5 times to apologize and asked her how she would like him to do so. He made it clear that it was a line from a Clint Eastwood movie that won 13 awards and that he didn't make up the joke.
He also told her that even though he thought that it was the proper term since the NAACP is named with the term "Colored" directly in the title, he would still apologize if it offended her. He doesn't even know her but was still trying to be cordial on behalf of my company since she kept telling us and everybody that would listen that she was going to ban my entire team from any ESPN Coverage. When Jonathan Little was the chipleader in the PLO event a few days ago and Sara Underwood was there getting covered by every other site, she refused to showcase them.

So then she called me last night and was screaming & cursing at me, I considered us friends and bit my tongue. I told her for 2 days if she has a problem with Bilzerian then ban him until you fix the situation but it's absurd to ban my whole team. Jonathan Little and the international players haven't even met Bilzerian so why should they be affected? When Michael Vick got into his trouble did the whole Falcons team get banned from CBS on Sundays?

If she just would have made the situation about him, then people might understand, but to ban my whole team because of a twitter joke from a major motion picture, is ridiculous. http://calvinayre.com/2010/06/14/pok...ue-to-1-tweet/

Daniel Negreanu does asian jokes & paints his face black and mocks rappers on international television shows all the time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1buqF14k2w but I asked her if she would ban the whole Pokerstars team over it???
Of course she wouldn't, so I'm not defending the Clint Eastwood joke but I am going to protect my team and my company.

I think Bilzerian handled himself MUCH better then expected. If he was wrong in this scenario or used the "n" word or something derogatory then I would address the situation completely differently. But in this case, the real problem is how she handled the situation. She continously threatened me and cursed at me in regards to banning my whole team. Then she called/texted/twittered/etc. curse words at Bilzerian.

In the end, I dont want any drama and tried my best for 2 days to mitigate the situation between the 2 of them. He tried to be cordial and instead she cursed & screamed at both of us.

I hope everybody can just get along and we can all enjoy some poker without all the politics & drama.

Thanks for your comments.

Yea I definitely agree that she seems to be overreacting. She seems very unprofessional and quite intolerable.

"Politics & drama" follow that Bilzerian guy wherever he goes .. and a trail of people shaking their heads going "jesus christ, what an *******."

Made a "Lodden Thinks" bet on how much we would have to pay our videographer to get a tattoo of the logo... I guessed $1,999 and over and this is the video of what happened.

I think the whole racist joke story is for publicity just like Phil Laaks live streaming marathon to promote his website. I don't see why she would ban the whole team for a joke, racist or not racist. It just doesn't make any sense. The timing also is a bit odd, from his twitter post to him making a video on youtube with her voice on it then a thread here on 2+2. How can she not accpet an apology from Dan Bilzerian and the CEO of the company for a stupid joke? Why would he go public with it? Wouldn't make more sense to keep quite until everything is resolved? I don't know I could be wrong..Intentional or non intentional you will for sure get more attention from pokers fans to see if the team gets any espn coverage this year at the main event.
Mr. CEO, I make my living from online poker and for some reason your site doesnt look truthworthy and professional. This is not just my opinion so many of my friends who play poker fulltime also agree with me. Maybe hiring porn stars/models to promote the site wasn't a good business idea. If your target market is guys 18 to 22 then yea it may work but most poker players are smart and they could care less about half naked girls promoting a poker site. We just wanna grind and make more money. I play on full tilt because I really trust the people who are running the show from HL to Allen C. If you notice when you try to make a depoit or cash out on ftp Chris F pic pops up. Why? because people wanna see decent and truthworthy people when it comes to handling their money not porn stars or popular guys like Antonio or "bad ass" people like Dan. It hurts the image of your site sir. Look what happened with AP. Good luck.

@New: Obviously the racist situation was not for publicity. I'm completely opposed to the concept that "all press is good press" Many pro's and people at the wsop can tell you how EXTREMELY real the situation was. There were many people called and brought into the situation which blew it all out of proportion. She was always allowed to be mad at Bilzerian for her own personal reasons but I was always simply defending my team.
Anyway, Phil Laak's marathon is a good concept for marketing but it's silly to think that a racism situation with an espn/Bluff executive would be good for my company.

As far as trustworthy and professional. We're the largest team of pro players since Full Tilt and the 3rd largest team in the industry. I bring that up because your referencing HL and Allen C. when I also have Lee Markholt, Jonathan Little, Paul Wasicka and a host of other pro players that are well respected.
On the professional level, I've hired executives with experience from BODOG, Cake, etc. and am spending millions to make this a successful company.

There are no porn stars involved in my company. I dont have anything against them but I dont have any in my company. You may be thinking of Samantha Ryan who just signed with UB. I have Sara Underwood who was the Playboy Playmate of the Year and represents multiple mainstream companies and has been on television for years.
There are 5 other models from Vegas to the UK but they all work for Maxim, Fhm, fashion brands, etc. but are not pornstars.

I didn't invent the concept of using models to market a company. Budweiser, Nokia, Apple, Gucci, Gatorade and every major company uses them.
I use the 20 pro poker players in industry magazines and use the models in UFC and other mainstream type magazines. It's different types of marketing depending on the country or demographic.

For the grinding poker players that you mentioned that are just interested in making money we do the high rakeback, market to amateur players in different countries to supply non-professional players and are focused on building the brand and player base non-stop.

I wish you continued success in poker and in life.

I notice according to poker scout, traffic is falling apparently about as fast as Bodog's when they took their massive traffic hit a couple of months ago .. and that pokerscout is no longer able to give a report on what games are running on the site.

I feel the urge to joke, which is a better place for an actress, porn or "Epic Movie"? (don't feel obliged to respond to that, it's just a joke)

Thanks for clearing up some of the issues I had with your website. I will definitely join VP this coming week.

ekdikeo: I just copy and pasted the pokerscout traffic on Everleaf at this exact second.
It's double what Bodog has in active cash players this second and 70% more then the MERGE network so I'm not sure why your saying that the traffic is down? It just keeps growing and getting more consistent!
It's mostly European/Scandinavian players so Im doing extra marketing in Canada/US to increase those time zones traffic but randomly looking at 9:00 am like I just copy and pasted off the site and the Everleaf traffic is ahead of all 4 sites/networks above it!

I wasn't referring to number of players comparison, I was referring to the falling trend on the graph of traffic. It's roughly the same drop that Bodog had. And Bodog isn't exactly the place to look up to in the poker world.
06-26-2010 , 03:14 AM
specifically what i mean ...

06-26-2010 , 07:27 PM
I used to play at Bodog exclusively & I've left as it's gone to crap. I wish there were SNG's running at Victory because I'd be there all day long.

Why isn't Andrew sporting any Victory Poker logo on the stars Big Game?

@Ekdikeo: Thanks for putting the chart up. Not sure what you mean by "falling track on the graph of traffic"

The bottom right corner with the brownish colored line on each of those graphs is the 6 month graph and if you look at Everleafs graph it looks like a beautiful upward hill!!!
It goes from 100 average players at any given moment to 500 average players at any given moment on the chart you posted.

You may be referring to the 24 hour chart with the blue colored line but that wouldnt make any sense since your calling it "a trend" when that's just a 1 day snapshot by hour.

Thank you for posting the graph, it makes it easier to clear up misreadings.

Robl & I were doing everything we can to get the patches approved on the Pokerstars show for him and Antonio to wear but allegedly fox television said it wasn't authorized for their network yet although our patches have been featured on NBC/ESPN/Fox sports/and "white listed" for approval in all of Europe!!!

I hope it gets cleared up, I've gotten approvals from everybody elses shows but for some reason Robl/Antonio didn't get to wear their patches on this show.

I like the concept of the show too, it's adds an interesting dynamic.
I really just like anything to do with poker being on mainstream television networks.
Although I'd prefer them to have my patch on them!

@vpCEO: @Ekdikeo is referring to the ever increasing dip on the 6th month trend. Small blip or honeymoon period is over? I guess we'll soon find out

Right, the last almost 1/6th of that 6-month graph (something close to a month) is a big dip, comparable in size to the big dip closer to the middle of Bodog's chart.

The graph of the other network immediately to the right of that, in the same screenshot, does not have a similar drop.

PartyPoker and Cereus do not, all the other networks do, however most all of the other networks also have falling traffic over a much larger period of time than one month.

Main Event time has so much energy!
Flying back from New York right now, been preparing for some awesome deals/changes/upgrades/across the board.

Will do a full update after the Final Table.
Sara Underwood is on to Day 2 tomorrow along with a dozen of the pro's.
I might have to use my "1 time" on Sara winning : )

Heading back to Malta and London after the series.
Sponsoring a bunch of the Canadian Poker Tour events in August.

Using internet on the airplane right now, technology is amazing.

Good luck to everybody playing in the Main Event, glad that 7,319 players entered, that's fantastic for the poker industry.
07-12-2010 , 05:38 PM
Day 3 just started. I still have half a dozen lottery tickets in the Main Event : )
Dan Bilzerian has 230k
Keith Gipson has 50k
Brian Rast has 148k
plus Danny Wong and a few of the international pro's.

Sara Underwood made it to the end of day 2, she's been studying hard and putting in the time, I'm really proud of her efforts. She'll be playing in the European events in September in London with us.

The Party Poker Big Game lV which I played on in London recently will start airing next week.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRfW_R9nyBE
I'm really interested to see which hands the producers choose to show and what the hands were that I was up against.

I'd like to play the full 48 hours next time if they'll have me back, it was the day after my launch party in London on Saturday and I played until Monday when it's the busiest time for me with work. Viffer was a machine on that show, it's produced really well so it should be fun to watch.

Hope some of the crew goes deep in the Main event this week,,, they're trying extra hard this year!!!
As if the 8.9 million dollars isn't enough for them, they know it would make me happy
: )
