LIVE "NO LIMIT" CASH GAME POKER COACHING

LIVE NO LIMIT COACHING 1-2 NL / 1-3 NL / 2-5 NL / 5-5 NL - Deep

Hello, thank you for taking the time out and reading my thread.

Mikey:
Poker player for over 20 years.

The best years for me began about 5 years ago when I learned from the master (Bill Hubbard) ANL Poker – please see his coaching thread on 2+2
I went through his entire syllabus and have spent hundreds of hours learning from him.

I have a great feel for the game and am in the mix right now playing.

My style of coaching will be very similar to his, going through cherry picked hands and through topics specifically for live poker players.

Make no doubt about it, what made me rise to the top primarily was Bill’s coaching and his personal commitment.

Why you should hire me as a coach?
I would hire myself as a coach immediately, if I knew what I knew and was struggling with the game.

Have 20+ years of poker playing experience.

Have been coached by prodigy players.
(Aaron Wilt – “Wilt on Tilt”) (Bill Hubbard)

Can explain clearly and concisely what I’m doing and why I’m doing it using simple language.

Will challenge you to think and not spoon feed you answers and can always answer "why" I'm doing what I'm doing.

Have a tremendous “feel” for the live games – Empathy is my strongest skill

Help you ask the right questions when navigating through a poker hand and come up with the “optimal answer.”

I can map myself inside your mind and see what your seeing and feel what you are feeling.

Excellent Memory & Recall – I can help reference past hands you’ve played when talking about new situations and explain differences. I wish I could remember what I ate for breakfast though. (smh)

You have my personal commitment to helping you excel and I’m always an e-mail away.

What I offer:
A complete syllabus (as did Bill Hubbard) on the following topics
-Preflop Play
-Bet Sizing
-Hand Reading
-3-betting
-4-betting
-OverBetting
-Creative Play – Checkraising / Donking Out / Check calling OOP
-Theory’s
-Your Personal History Analysis

Takeaway from Bill: (ANL POKER)
Bill was great at explaining why he did what he did and backed it up with logic and facts. There was no crazy math, no crazy vocabulary, it was simple to understand and made perfect sense. After having spent hundreds of hours with him and putting what I learned into practice I still have his voice in my head telling me what to do. He was truly the greatest kept secret in poker.

Evolving: Live Poker since Bill’s passing has evolved a bit, tournament players have transitioned to the live setting knowing that they can probably earn a higher win rate, the recreational players are getting a little smarter and making better decisions, and online players are moving towards the live setting as well. Adjustments and different strategy’s will be necessary for all types of villains we will encounter.

Is there still an edge? Yes
I’ll leave you with some quotes from the Master Bill Hubbard.

“It doesn’t matter how good you are at poker, all you have to be is better than the players you play against” – Bill Hubbard

“We just take it to the next level, that’s all this is, you always want to be on the last level” – Bill Hubbard

“You see when I raise and someone 3-bets me I already know what I’m gonna do…. There is no… OMG… or I wonder, or ohh jeeze what I am I gonna do…. No none of that... I already know” – Bill Hubbard

Some comments that have come across to me over the years while playing poker at the tables and this is not a form of arrogance but a genuine matter of fact:

1.“I don’t know why anyone plays with you, you never lose, you always turn over a winner, every time someone has a good hand you fold and they don’t get paid off. What’s the point?”

2.“Him…….. Him….. that’s the best player.”

3.“Do you ever lose? everytime I see you you are winning and have a big stack.”

Who is coaching for?

Someone who is struggling with the game and breaking even and just can’t seem to understand why.

Someone who is angry and sad with poker and wants to be great.

Someone who is winning, but just not winning a lot, they know they could do better.

Someone who is playing online and wants to transition to live.

Someone who wants to sit down and be the very best player in the card room period!

Someone who wants to take an academic approach to the game and wants to understand it better.

What my goal is for you?
I’m going to take you by the hand and lift you up here with me, I want to see you do good and win and feel good and laugh and be happy. I want to see you be able to think through the poker decisions and understand why you are doing what you are doing, play optimally, relaxed and confident at the poker table.

Rates:
1-2 & 1-3 NL $120 per hour
2-5 & 5-5 NL $140 per hour

How does the coaching work?

Via SKYPE
Initially present you with a Quiz Cost $20 – Just like Bill had at ANL Poker
Present you with quiz questions and when complete you send over to me and we’ll set up a review session.
Review session of the quiz is $100 per hour. same as Bill would have done

Here we will get to know each other and be able to talk about your thought process in some poker hands.

It’s best to be 100% honest with the answers and answer them quickly as you would in a real game and not think too hard about the answers or do research or the subject. Being honest with yourself will help you excel.
From there we can begin on the syllabus and work our way through the session material.

FAQ: What is the best way to excel and be great at live poker?

Go through the quiz and begin the session material while at the same time present me with your personal hand history’s. Your personal hand history’s that you bring will help you excel the fastest along with the mind expanding session material that I have put together.

I encourage you to read through Bill’s Coaching Profile if you haven't done so already (ANL POKER) so that you can see what is possible for you as what was possible for me.

Please contact me with any questions.
*Mikey

re: LIVE "NO LIMIT" CASH GAME POKER COACHING

Right off the bat, Bill asked me "when you go sit down at the table , why are YOU going to win? What are you doing differently or better than your opponents?"

And I didn't have an answer lol and I've been playing live poker for years and never looked at it through that simple scope.. right there I started to think about poker differently

I think your rate is a little high, especially since you are just starting out, if you have proven success of brining multiple players to higher levels than I think the rate is justified

Anyway , I'm getting back into live poker and after a few reviews, I might try a lesson ... Good luck

Mike was a student of mine for several months. He thinks deeply about the game and asks good questions. In my experience, focusing on the right questions to ask is the key to getting better as it makes you consider all the variables involved to arrive at the correct answer.

As my student, Mike had a real hunger to get better and I have no doubt he will take that same enthusiasm to coaching. I'm certain he can help people in typical live games get a much clearer thought process and improve their game.

Where are you currently playing? What stakes and winrate have you shown over a large sample?

How many hours is this and over how many years?

Why are you avoiding the info that many people are interested in such as how much you've won, over how long a period, when, how many hours. An hourly figure isn't very useful unless we know how many hours.

Thank you for inquiring Ankimo. Admittedly when first starting out as a coach and no one really knows who you are they would like some verification and proof that can help them make a clear decision on whether I'm legit. I would feel the same exact way if I was reading through this thread and I needed help in the game. Some reading through this sit there on the fence and fall one way or the other, that's why I point to you the prodigy minds of where I learned.

I feel that anyone posting any type of sheet claiming cash winnings can be easily open for non-believing

For the most part I average about 20 hours a week some weeks and more others and less others.

I'm putting myself out here because I'm very knowledgeable and I genuinely want to help players get better.

Some players play for a living or a part time supplement of income and by me not putting myself out here would actually be doing them a disservice especially if they have the drive and commitment to be better.

Furthermore the choice on one who chooses as a coach is going to be important. Prior to having Bill as my coach I had 2 others and they were absolutely terrible. I was devastated with the amount I paid them and with so little irrelevant information I received. When I came across Bill I found my home and have been lucky ever since.

Thank you.

re: LIVE "NO LIMIT" CASH GAME POKER COACHING

I just had a coaching session with Mike. First, here’s a little about my background. I consider myself a live “semi-pro” since March of 2013, when I quit my day job. Since then, I’ve derived all or part of my income from poker, mostly grinding 2-5. Currently I’m doing engineering consulting part-time and poker part-time.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am also a former satisfied student of Bill Hubbard’s. I currently have a coach with whom I am happy, but his availability is limited due to his heavy play schedule. So, I thought I’d check out Mike to augment that coaching.

We began our session talking generally about (at my request) preflop open and 3-bet ranges from a theoretical point of view in today’s live games. Given that I’m already a winning reg rather than a novice player, I didn’t feel the need to take his quiz or use his written prep materials. Mike displayed a deep understanding of both exploitative ranges and “GTO-based” polarized ranges, and when it’s best to use each.

Next, we reviewed several of my live 2-5 hand histories. He identified any mistakes I made and explained why, given the villains’ ranges and tendencies, my decision was analytically -EV or at least less than optimal. We also dug deep into my bet-sizing even when he agreed the overall line I took was sound. Finally, we discussed alternative betting lines, and how we should modify those in the same situation against different villain types.

Overall, I was quite satisfied from my coaching session and feel I received good advice and value. I should also mention Mike was rather generous with his time. If I had any criticism, it would be that as a new coach, his explanations aren’t perhaps as “polished” as a more seasoned coach, but I’m sure that will improve with experience.

I can recommend Mike without reservation if you are a struggling live player looking to crush live 2-5 games and above, or like me, already a winning player looking to maintain your edge and further refine your game. I intend to continue to receive coaching from Mike.
