LIVE NO LIMIT COACHING

About me:
I offer coaching for Live No Limit Hold’em players at all levels (up to 10 dollar big blind). I primarily play 5/10 at Commerce Casino.

• Commerce Casino’s “Most winnings” at 5/10 NL
• Played online from 2006 to 2011 playing online SNGs and Cash games
• Coached 100+ students with all positive reviews between 2009-2011
• Produced ~20 videos as SNG instructor for DragTheBar
• Here’s a sample video of a HH analysis by me:

Students I’m seeking:
• From novice up to 1/2 to 5/10 level.
• Players who are struggling in the game. My model has always been that just because you’re playing for fun, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try your best to win. I find poker much more fun when I win than the times I lose.
• Someone who wants personal direction in addition to training videos/posts research.

Pricing:
• 150/hour with a two hour minimum or 1,350 for 10 hours paid up front.
• Money back guaranteed. At the end of the session, if you feel like what I provided to you wasn’t worth your money, simply state that and I’ll return your money with no questions asked.
• I accept cash, checks, paypal, bitcoin, or any other form of deposit/transfer.
What sessions look like:
• I ask all first time students to send me a brief couple of paragraphs about their poker stories and provide an assessment of their skill level.
• The session will be tailored to the student’s skill level and needs. We will discuss basic concepts like position, stack sizes, starting hands, preflop play, etc. Next, we can discuss things like adjustment, bet sizing, 3 betting, hand reading, live tells, game dynamics, etc.
• Theory Lesson: This will be a session where we will discuss how to exploit your opponents, bad tendencies, statistics, etc.
• Live sweating: I will watch you play and comment on your play. I wouldn’t mind doing this online but I think it’s extremely slow and ineffective at a casino.
• You pick at my brain. You can ask me any question you want. Ask me about winrates, moving up or down, my thoughts of the game.
• All sessions are conducted via Skype unless you are willing to drive to Pasadena, CA.
• You are paying for my time, so you have final say on how the session looks like. Only thing I won’t discuss is specific players’ tendencies in my player pool. I feel that would be unethical.

FAQs:
1) I am from ______ (country), is language barrier going to be a problem?
I’ve coached students from India, Sweden, Australia, Chile, Russia, UK, Spain, and Germany, all over the world. So if you have read up to here, you’ll be fine.

2) Do you coach for profits?
No, sorry.

3) Why are your reviews so old?
They’re from 2009 to 2011 when I used to coach SNGs online. I now teach people how to crush live poker!

Please PM, post, or email me at “rakescoaching@gmail.com” if you have any other questions I did not cover. I will provide payment methods as well as items you need to prepare before our lessons.

re: Rakes's SNG coaching, DragTheBar instructor, Free Video! - Rakes is back

i coached rakes a few times at NLHE 6max. he's a competent player and was a solid winner when I left. I'm not sure on his coaching abilities but I'm sure that rakes is a good player who can benefit most any micro stakes player's game.

re: Rakes's SNG coaching, DragTheBar instructor, Free Video! - Rakes is back

hi guys !

took a pack for 5 hours, did three of them. it's really interesting and clear. rakes spots quickly with just one session many leaks I have. he explains me all the stages of a stt always with good arguments and we analyse some "tough" hands too !

I believe he's a great teacher and for only $30/hour, you should try if you can't beat your limit / want to improve your game !

P.S. I am looking for $6.50-$11 (9 peolple turbo sng) coach who can help me with my bubble play.

to anyone looking for this kind of opportunity... Rakes has been backing me and sweating me at 50 and 100 dollar sngs. I find his advice to be very good and his knowledge of sngs even at that level to be solid. He must kill the games below 50's.

30 bucks an hour is a great value for the kind of insight and devotion I am sure he will offer.

He is very well spoken and a great guy, i hope that people are able to utilize this.

Re: Affordable Coaching ($40/hour) for SNG players

I had a 1.5 hour session with Rakes earlier this week and I mainly play $6.50 6max sngs. He very clearly pointed out some major leaks in my game and at $40/h, it's a steal. I enjoyed the session, am now much more comfortable around the bubble, consequently I intend to use Rakes again in the future!

I just had a two hour session with Rakes. He watched me play for an hour, then we spent an hour where he discussed specific hands and spots where I could have easily gotten more chips. He is very detailed and makes it very easy to ask questions. I will def. get a few more lessons from him.

Rakes is an amazing coach who turned me from a noob to someone who is competent and making decent money. He’s articulate and expresses his thoughts well. I would highly recommend him to others. Definitely lots of value for the money!

Re: SNG Coaching

I just finished 4 hours of coaching with Rakes and it helped my game alot. I was kinda skeptical about the idea of gettting a coach at first, but I'm glad I did. He was very professional and very helpful. He pointed out quite a few things I was doing wrong and plugged some leaks in my game. I definately plan on doing some more coaching with him and recommend him to someone looking for an affordable coach.

Yeah, I was always wondering how that worked. Do you just tell them your hands in SnG's or talk via AIM?

Re: SNG Coaching

I'm not done with my coaching with rakes, for some reason I thought he had gone somewhere and couldn't coach for a while. I'll be booking my next session soon.

For me, I had a 2 hour session a few weeks back. I don't know how rakes usually handles the sessions, I think it is mostly teamviewer and AIM. I wanted teamviewer and skype and he was cool with that. I was able to record both the video and audio so I have a nice file to refer to.

Rakes first sweated me while I played 4 $16s. We talked about some of the hands as they occured, went over some strategy, some late game push/fold talk, exploiting donks, etc. A bunch of good stuff. Then, after the sweat was over, he brought up a few points he felt were weak within my game and expanded on them. We reviewed a few hands and discussed what I could have done better. We still used AIM to nail down a few ranges here and there.

Overall it was a very solid first session and I expect to book a 3 hour session soon. I recommend rakes to any beginner or intermediate SNG player.

Re: SNG Coaching

hello
im looking for someone who will go over my games (HH) which i will send on e-mail and give feedback..
what i need is going over my games roughly in some program like sitngo wiz and so.. and send me back an e-mail with his feedback which should include:
game and hand number, what was the specific mistake here and general thoughts about my play..
the center of the work is pointing out bad moves and suggest how to fix them, not explaining each and every hand of the game mostly push fold advice and ..
i think its less work from coaching.
what would be the price for this kind of a job? how much $ per hour?
