its an amazing country !
Hope to hear ur stories in china !
In Guangzhou it also worked, but perhaps bc of the hotel?! In Guiling and Beijing it stopped (google, gmail as well).
Flew back today, have a 6hour stopover in HK, flying to Singapore tonight.
Have a lot of thoughts on China, made an interview as well. It's funny how brainwashed people can be...i don't believe most media, but imo impression most people have about China is very wrong.
China is a great country, wonderful nature. I will definitely come back and explore the smaller cities as well.
Here are some random thoughts/rambling:
In Germany/USA people would call China communism, but China seems a lot more forward thinking and entrepreneurial. Also more tough and resistant...westerners are crybabies (altho i've been saying that forever, i see people who i coach etc).
Western world can have all their protection right and 20hr work week ****, but Evolution will punish them. Weakness gets punished. You can cry, call it horrible, have human right committees, but WEAKNESS WILL LOSE.
You just can't compete with an army of people who are willing to work for close to nothing, double as much as you.
Chinese all over the world... I've seen them in Buenos Aires, where they run the "CHINOS" (supermarkets). I see them in Italy, where they run all the clothing adjustment, small bars and nail, cosmetics stuff.
They are half the price, but double as good as the local "competition".
I don't see much Konfuzius tho. I see no spirit. I see machines, very good ones. But probably have to dig deeper there.
Well, Chinese are very superstitious...888,444,777...well i let u guys figure it out.
Then people talk about how people get brainwashed, while in Germany there is governmental television that people are FORCED to pay for LOL.
The most foolish are those who think they know it all.
USA is brainwashed in a different way, proven by the fact that people will be offended simply for me writing this sentence (altho i LOVE USA, got family there, we used to be immigrants from Russia!!!).
Like i remember when i was in high school there for a few months, people asked me if there is TV in Germany. We ****** invented this stuff!!! lol. Europeans think Americans are dumb, but i totally disagree. In europe knowledge = u are smart.
In USA, What you do = makes u smart. In USA, u have everything, u dont need to know about the rest of the world.
It's like asking a German/Brit/French about Kenya. Hell, what do we know?
Thats why all the great innovations these days and last centuries come from the USA, thats why they are (still) the world power numero uno.
On the other side, China censors the Internet like mad men. Sites load actually a lot faster if you search them in baidu (equivalent of google) compared to loading them in the browser right away.
People say China is the biggest polluter, but all i saw was green country, tropical scenery and the most beautiful highways in the world.
Probably didn't see the chemicals from the production places, but what i do know is that it's a lot more complicated.
Chinese are rough in traffic. It's survival of the fittest, few if any rules exist. Probably road deaths, but somehow they make it work. It's like wild darwinism. U can't see a clear system, but there is something and it works.
In a Western guys view, Chinese people are often very impolite (if somebody wants to walk by you and there is not enough space, they just push). HOWEVER, nobody ever complains when you push them (i experimented lol). So it's accepted and fair game.
Generally i also view it as a scam culture where you always have to be awake or u will get taken advantage of. Thats also something good, bc if u survive here, u can make it anywhere (they used to say this about NYC).
OK, had too much time! Random Ramblings, but will be more organized in other formats.
U shud read what i write, knowing that its my first time in China and only 2 weeks. So take it for what you want. Its my unfiltered impression.
Hasta luego!
