Why? It's not that outrageous. It's exactly the same as selling 75% at 1.33 markup. I mean, that's probably a bit high for most people, but it's not like it's out of this world.

I hope this is the right place for my question..........As a newer member (<6months), what is the proper way to get my sunday package (for next weekend) viewed by the regular share buyers on this site...... Is somebody allowed to post a thread for me in the regular forum (I've seen this done at least a few times)??? I have a 99.9% opr and feel as though I'm not sure how to get people to purchase shares properly. I've sold 18% thusfar, but mainly by word of mouth while playing. Thank you for any help with this.....The package is currently on pg 181 of the <6 month page if anyone is interested.

Good to know I made a good deal. My theory was it was a no lose situation, but I needed enough of a piece to make it worth my time and keep my interest. We had been talking about a 50/50 stake in a cash game so he said he'd like more if he put me in to the WSOP; I said of course and said since its a one-time deal, how about you keep 75%?

I never visited this sub forum in the past, but have spent a lot of time in the person to person transfer thread. My question is: Is there a list of people to not do transfers with, or would you suggest doing my up most diligence in researching someone before accepting a transfer?

My concern stems from bad funds, or bad people and being connected with them. The way I see it now it seems a free for all and when you put up a thread someone can just come in and buy or reserve, and in most cases I wont know that person at all. Have there been problems with people being "tied" to other bad funds or bad people through transfer alone? Is this just an inherent risk in selling shares? Is there a way to lesson this risk without giving up share selling?

Thanks, guys. My account means a lot to me, and would feel better with any knowledge I can gain.
Hi guys, if someone could advise me on this question I'd really appreciate it. It looks as though I had someone willing to invest in my first thread but come to find out today that he started his own thread and a moderator came into it and said "do not send this poster any money" in bold, then locked his thread.

Had I had shares left I probably would have sold to him. Please advise if there is anything to worry about or if there is a better more secure way of share selling. Thank you

I'm sure you could just explain to the site what happened and all would be ok, if you pointed them to your thread. But you do bring up a good point. I don't know the answer. BTW who was the sender in question?

I have a general question here.

Scenario: Someone posts in a thread "please reserve x% of action if you decide to play x tournament."

Lets say someone plays this tournament without confirming reserve or receiving funds. Should the person asking for reserve get shipped profits if it was never reserved by OP/booked?

Curious how more experienced users interpret this scenario.

TY.

I'm not really a "more experienced user," but I read that as no action.
If the OP had confirmed the reserve, it would stand.
As it is, OP could have wanted to not sell any action for this particular tournament. It's like saying "I will give you $10 for that CD" and not getting a response. You shouldn't expect the CD.
Likewise, I don't think the person reserving action needs to pay up if OP took a loss, if the reserve was never confirmed.

I was thinking this also, Sect7G, and you're probably right. Unfortunately though, with as much time as I've spent in the transfer thread I have seen firsthand how sites will deal (basically not deal) with scams, etc. There does not seem to be problems in the share sell section of the marketplace though, and I'm assuming that is because if someones buying a share then not only do they have money, but it's probably good money because they are essentially trying to add to it.

The only concern that I've thought of so far is if someone sends on one site, but wants their share sent back to either another site or to a different name. For me this is not so much of a problem, as I only play one site, but I think I will state in the op from now on that I can only send back shares to the names I've received from.

Re: ***Official Staking Discussion Thread: Use this thread for Selling Shares advice/questions*

Hello all. I have skimmed this and while there is some really good information I still don't know how to go about making a fair price on some action I am going to sell. I am going to play the $2500 six max event at the WSOP tomorrow and it's out of my roll so I would like to sell action. I am a winning player in online tournaments over a massive sample, and have some decent(nothing spectacular) live cashes. I know I could charge markup but since I'm going to be selling to my close friends I want it to be fair for both parties.

If anyone could give my numbers a look and let me know a fair price to charge (not what price I could get) that would be great.

Stats:

Pokerstars - $579k in prizes, 54% ROI, 15% ITM, $100 ABI

FTP - $279k in prizes, 15% ROI, 12% ITM, $142 ABI

Live six max results: placed 82nd for $3664 in a $1500 six max event at last years WSOP, and placed 17th for $5995 in the $2000 shorthanded event at aussie millions 2008.

*disclaimer* I was told by someone smart that this is where I should post this question. I am in no way shape or form attempting to advertise here. As I said I am planning on selling the action to close friends who may or may not even post on two plus two. Please do not PM me about buying shares.

edit: and ya if you feel I shouldn't be charging then please let me know I have never done this before. but atm charging markup seems "standard" if you are not a drooler.

If I'm unloading the action to close friends I'd never ask them for markup, but my POV might be skewed as that is the only way I'd ever get rid of action.

When I'm selling to friends I usually only charge them an equal % of my expenses to play the tournament (travel cost/hotel).

I'm playing a £5000 tournament and my exes are £500 I would sell at 1.1:1

If it's in my home town I sell to friends with no markup.

In cases like this with friends I have set a pretty low markup and then agreed that anytime he sold action I would be able to buy at that fixed markup. Something like 5-10%. Every time we buy or sell pieces amongst each other we just do it at the fixed markup number.

If this is something you only see happening once or only from your end, I'd just pick a lowball number. Your friends aren't trying to screw you and you aren't trying to screw your friends, so just meet somewhere in the middle. I'd probably go with like 10% in your particular instance.

Is there a standard for selling pieces to ME satellites? I'd like to play the $370 qualifier on pokerstars (200 seats gtd) but not sure what terms to offer. Should it just be a standard x% markup for the satellite and then whatever % the person buys they would receive the corresponding % for the ME if I won a seat or is there a different way it should be done?

For example: Selling 60% of $370 qualifier @ 1.2 markup. If a seat is won 60% of anything won from the ME would go to backers? Is that cool?

Yes that is 'cool' although unless you're really intent on playing the ME, I would suggest just taking the 11k cash and everyone basically 300x's their investment

i actually dont think you screwed up, at least not significantly. you said in OP that you were going to play tourneys up to 75K, and will include the ME. seems like your doing that - the event list was really just an example in your post anyway. so as i read your OP, you show the list of events you played that total up to 75k including the ME and your ok. anything beyond that is on your nickel or could be a second package.

i think you were pretty clear imo

Would i be able to sell some of my main event action?

If i can say at the begining of my post, I would not expect members to send money directly to me, instead to a trusted escrow.

I have been pre registered by my poker room, so my seat, along with my accomodation has been payed for. I am simply looking for some money that will cover the cost of my travel from the UK, and a little for expenses.

I would offer very good terms in other words $100 would buy you more than 1%

My pokerstars username is trawls, 29% ROI, $20,749 profits
My fulltilt username is umbalo, 15% ROI, $5,465 profits

Below is a link to my only recorded live performance, a 4th place in the Welsh masters for approx $4,020

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=51049

If members believe that I have a chance of selling action please let me know

Thankyou

If my stats are good, I have references, and so on...How long would it usually take to sell about 4k worth of action? I want to play a 5k Heads Up event in Calgary, Alberta (128 player max, 170k for 1st) on August 23rd and I am a winning HUSNG player, been coached by some of the best players at various limits and think I am +EV forsure. Because I have to pay for hotel, travel, and other expenses I can only afford to invest 1k into this event myself. The event is a best 2 of 3 match play to advance which is even better meaning I can lose a match and still go on to win the round.

So yeah, just trying to get an idea of how fast I should make up my mind and make a thread to sell 4k (80%) of my action.
