He took on two more investors for 10% each somewhere in the middle of the package, but these two did *not* give him all the money up front. Furthermore, it seems he may have forgotten my 7% when he made the list of 70% sold (and maybe accidentally sold 97% eventually!)

My preliminary calculations (ignoring the new investors, and counting his cashes) are that each 1% share originally cost $685 and is now worth $523. There is cash available to pay $164 of that, leaving a shortfall of $359.
I'm a little confused... surely we're not assuming that "Brad and Brett" are going to pay the remainder of their shares? I mean if I were either of them I'd feel bad for other investors but there's no way I'd hand hiv another dime, I'd be adamant that the debt is his.

They gave him enough that they're still owed a refund, they're just not as screwed as the rest of us. I agree, they wouldn't be responsible for paying more.

I have a spreadsheet ready on google docs and will be PMing investors today or tomorrow as soon as I have time to explain it. Numbers are pretty much as I wrote above. When I get confirmation of screen names I'll be sending the refunds from what HIV sent me.

HIV, i would strongly reconmend joining GA, iv had friends that have lost more money than they could afford to lose, i dont mean their bankroll, i mean selling their car, doing their savings, spending their student loan and housing fund. When it happens, they say "don't worry, that has taught me never to gamble again", yet when they next get money within a week they are saying "Its only £20, ill have a spin" "Another £20 and i can break even" "Well if i do a £100 ill win it all back and then some"

Don't kid yourself that just because you lost loads you will not want to gamble again, thats not how it works. Don't get backed for poker, even if you are a good player, you clearly have tilt and discipline issues that have not been fixed.

GL with getting it all right however, it's a brutal situation you have put yourself in and I have sympathy but as you have made clear in your posts, your number 1 priority has to be getting all that money back to investors.

Not sure if this is a good idea or not so just going to put it out there. Would it be possible for you to loan the money lost, so all investors could be paid back, and then you set up a payback scheme (for the loan) using your full time job. Not only would this mean that all investors get paid back promptly, both parties avoid the hassle of constant small repayments

If not you could always give Blatch's parents a call!

Here's a spreadsheet detailing the accounting for refunds of what cash HIV sent back to me.

Key: across the top are the investors and the markup they paid, along w/ 2+2 names and poker site names where I'll send the refund. (I think this was all public from this thread already, but if you have a problem with it, just ask and I'll hide the info.)

Down the left are the tournaments HIV was supposed to play. The "Return" column is x if he didn't play, 0 if he played but busted, and whatever he cashed for if he cashed.

The formulas then work out what each investor is due back - if HIV didn't play a tournament, it's markup*percentage*buyin, if he played it's percentage*result.

So at the bottom we have five rows for each investor. Return (what they should get back), Purchased (how much they bought), Paid (how much they actually paid HIV, for most people this is the same as Purchased, but some hadn't paid in full yet), Owed (what this investor is owed), and Owed Online (which which takes into account that HIV is handling his RL friends separately.)

The "Will get" row is a division of the cash HIV sent me, proportionally to all the "Owed Online" amounts.

If each of you would PM me or post here that your poker site screenname is correct, I'll send out the "Will get" amounts.

Thanks Fitz for sorting this all out

How will the rest of the debt be handled? Is HIV just planning on working and paying it back in like a few years or something?

Sent. As far as HIV paying the rest back, you know as much as I do. I have some hope that we'll eventually get it, but it looks like it will take a long time.

My AIM account was hacked today, so Stars is being really careful with my transfers. This might slow things down a bit, and I might need real names in some cases. I can do FTP immediately though, so when you PM me confirmation, if FTP is ok just let me know what name to send to there.

Just curious, is everyone getting back (eventually) the full amount they sent (minus the tournament entries he lost), or are they getting back their % of the bankroll (minus the tournament entries he lost)?

I can see arguments for both sides, but if I were an investor I wouldn't feel that great about letting a guy keep the markup after what he did.

I'm heading out of town for a couple of weeks, camping in Canada then hiking the Chilkoot trail, so if any of HIV's investors need to contact me, go ahead and PM and I'll get back to you around July 28th...

so.... fitzcat = quaterion (or however you spell that) good to know. I'll remember you for defrauding these investors. With HIV it is expected. But nice to know who else not to trust. Personally, I think you all should get HIV to grind 75/150 omaha... just send me a PM whenever he plays. HIV money is always sweeter. God its been way too long since I've had some of that tasty HIV money.
