pagallayan was on the 2005 party poker cruise when i was there. after the cruise me and my friend got a minibus w/ him, gavin smith and a few others to this hotel bar to relax for a few hours before our flights. in the car we were chatting about pool, snooker, etc.

about 30 mins later i am playing pool with my friend when he walks past the table. at that second i play a horrid shot and follow the object ball into the pocket with the white hahah. he said something like 'you ain't playing snooker now babyyyy', it was very funny. seemed like a super nice guy.

Clearly as far as snooker goes no one comes close to Ronnie. When he's amongst the balls his cueball control is unbelieveable, makes the game look so easy. Just wish he could keep his head together and win stuff more often.

When I was growing up I used to love to watch Jimmy White and still cant believe he never won the world championship. Also had a soft spot for Drago when he was still a force at snooker, he's a clip I found of him making a century in 3:30 against a young John Higgins : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVaUhlgIa6U

Living in the area I had the luxury of going to the Crucible and seeing Ronnie vs. Williams in the World Championship.

The clip's already been posted of his fastest 147, and I just don't see how anything could beat it.

Yeah i grew up in Doncaster and saw a few games at the crucible. Watched Ebdon take out Jimmy White 13-12 with a total clearance in the final frame decider. Ebdon was slowing the game down all the way and having the white cleaned loads. Obv the crowd are there to see Jimmy and are totally hating on him. He gets to about an 80 break in the final frame and its clearly over - the crowd starts leaving lol. He looks up and smiles and goes 'I haven't finished yet'. Then he clears up in front of a half empty crucible. Brilliant.

I always liked watching Mark Williams in snooker, possibly even more so in the last year or so as he's clawed his way back up the rankings.

Obviously, O'Sullivan's natural ability is unquestioned and he plays the game in a very entertaining way, but his "tortured soul" persona just seems so fake to me and I can't stand his moody bull****.

I always liked Mark Williams in snooker. There was a 2 year period, I think around 2000, where he was ranked #1 and untouchable imo. He's renowned for being the best single ball potter in the game, though Neil Robertson has since wrestled that title away according to many. Kind of an unfair title in a way though, seems like a slight at his break building, which is right up there with the best of them. He also plays this very weird under the body shot rather than use the rest, when shooting down the cushion on the wrong side of the table.

Out of the new bread, I like Mark Selby a lot. He's more of a gritty sort of player so not exactly exciting, but occasionally plays the most awesome shots. I think he's a better player than Ding, who's the other great young player, and I think he'll end up having more success than Ding when all is said and done. He's a really funny guy too.

These are besides the obvious. I love Ronnie, Jimmy, Alex Higgins as much as anybody else. Ronnie is the closest thing I have to a hero. Honourable mention goes to Efren Reyes, who I have seen do some phenomenal things on a pool table, though my lack of understanding of the nuances of the game mean that the true extent of his genius is probably lost on me.

I like Mark Allen too. Always joking around on the table and getting the crowd involved.
