Hopefully Murphy canters to a win.

If Murphy starts off well i can possibly put a bet on Bingham and be quids in either way.

Bingham please. Murphy has become insufferable.

Murphy's got a game on his hand with Bingham who seems to be playing the best he's ever done. Murphy has played some outstanding snooker this championship and has the experience and game to take it this year.

I appreciate he's not everyone's cup of tea but why is he insufferable?

Looking forward to this.

Been a vintage year at the crucible, extremely high standard of snooker in the matches I have watched.

Can't believe Bingham had this in him, finish the job tonight sir!

Really narked i did not back Bingham at 5's when he was 8-4 down .. I would have guaranteed myself a nice return.

I decided to wait one more frame and everything went all Pete Tong from that moment.

That clearance to stop it going 16-12 really might be pivotal .. hope so

lol

compelling frame. over the 1 hour mark, bingham asks for a bathroom break.

that points needed sidebar thing that the bbc are using is the most pointless thing i think they've ever done

ship it

Clucking bell seems appropriate.

But well done Bingham, played the match of his life and deserved to win.

+1

Really wanted Murphy to win, but all credit to Bingham he played great and managed to score when Murphy was slipping.

Had Mayweather to win by unanimous decision and lumped the majority of those winnings on Bingham. Hedged a little before the final session but still a nice win. Happy to see Bingham win anyway cos he's pretty likeable whereas Murphy isn't. Making money was a bonus.

A bit late responding, I guess you might not check back and see this but whatever.

I'm pretty sure you're right that Willie Thorne knows more about snooker than me. I'm not sure why you said this though as I made no claim to the contrary. Also, I think it was a lucky guess since you know nothing about me. Thanks for the comment though. Apart from being useless and irrelevant I quite enjoyed it.

I thought I put it pretty clearly in the post you quoted. I'll try to make it simpler:

I'm talking about the countless occasions when Willie says something like "I think the red goes in the right centre" and I'm looking at my screen thinking "no it ****ing doesn't you cretin; I can see from here that it'd hit the black half ball." The problem is, it's sometimes not so clear that I am able to correct the error for myself. If I can't tell for myself whether a ball passes another or whether the potting angle can't be reached, I don't trust these chumps because they get it wrong so often. It has nothing to do with snooker knowledge, I'm really only asking them not to guess if they don't know.

"If it's tight to the cushion, it's not a bad shot but if it's away from the cushion it is much more difficult" and such pearls of wisdom that we hear every other frame are useful insights for casual viewers but not for me and many others. Literally the most useful thing a snooker commentator can do for me is clarify whether a ball passes another or what the potting angle is, when I can't tell on my screen.

Meh, I prefer it because I'm sometimes too lazy to do the arithmetic when only told points remaining.
05-06-2015 , 04:37 PM
lol who was defending Willie "Mr no one's ever seen me make a maximum" Thorne

I should say that I quite like all of them as personalities. "Where's the cue ball going???!" became cringeworthy the second he realised the catchphrase potential but I even find Virgo to be good value. I get the impression that they enjoy a drink and a gamble (some more than others *cough* Willie Thorne *cough*) and they're not afraid to say what they think.

It's just my observation and I have nothing to back it up but I see a tend towards TV personalities that are farcical, nonsense-spewing idiots... or... anodyne, politically correct, bores. Personalities that are interesting without being offensive are getting rarer and those that do exist seem to have been around for a while (Stephen Fry is a good example). It's pretty cool that the BBC have packed a few of these in for their snooker coverage.
