Shane VanBoening Forfeits match vs Ronnie Alcano @ Manny Pacquiao Cup Open 10 Ball Tourny Shane VanBoening Forfeits match vs Ronnie Alcano @ Manny Pacquiao Cup Open 10 Ball Tourny

Shane VanBoening forfeited his match against Ronnie Alcano in the Manny Pacquiao Cup 10-ball tourny.

SVB was called out for not calling the 10-ball during his match. He didnt like the ruling so he packed up his cues and conceded.

Call shots are a standard rule in 10-ball

Thoughts?

There is a big conversation about this on AZ now.

If I am reading some of it right, he shot a few other 10 balls without calling them with no problems. If he were to win this game it would put the score 4-5 so maybe Alcano thought it was time to pull the move (which is within the rules but meh imo).

Yeah, it also happened in the semifinal match when Carlo Biado had a straight in 10 ball to win the match when it was Hill-Hill. He didn't call it and Pulpul called foul and started jumping up and down like he won the lottery.

This is the lamest thing in pro sports ever. How ridiculous that someone at this level would pull something so shady.

Skip to 1:52:00 to see the last few shots and Pulpul's antics. Absolutely horrid. I'm sick. I would've gotten arrested for beating that man to near death if that was me.

Poker players times 1,000,000. Apparently in the Philippines they're a close 2nd tho

If the rules are strict, and it's commonly enforced, then there's nothing to talk about here.
If the rules are "call non-obvious shots" or if it's accepted that the ref should be able to determine if a shot was obvious or not it's reasonable to be upset.

In the 2nd case it's also so ****ing nitty to not give it to him.

I don't care how strict the rule is. If you call that foul, you are a worthless piece of even more worthless ****.

suit,

I agree, and I even heard the bigger issue was that Shane was helping Alcano out for a period of time (letting him stay with him, food $, etc) wtf...

Gary on "the Hustlers" pulled a similar move when playing Baretta. She played a very simple carom...9-ball in the pocket, 4 ball almost frozen 6" down the rail. He said she didn't call it. she took the high road and basically just said "that's ridic you need to cheat like that" and drilled him the rest of the match....
