Forum seems to have gone fairly dead, but someone here might know - early in a frame of snooker, you foul by potting both the blue and pink in the same shot. All spots are occupied except the blue spot - what goes where and why?

As far as I know, blue goes on it's own spot, pink as close to it's own spot towards the head of the table. If there is no room there, towards the baulk of the table.

This is correct.

Another scenario is if you pot blue and pink and say the only spot available is the yellow spot, then the highest numbered ball spots first so pink would go on the yellow spot and blue as close to it's own spot as possible in a straight line towards the top of the table(where the black spot is).
