How i started poker and ended my pool career. How i started poker and ended my pool career.

So it was 2004 2005 and i had been hustling around the pools halls and the camel pro tour, i would make games with the top pros who were starving for action. My best game at the time was one pocket, I knew the game and moved really well, so i made a game with gabe owens he was coming threw ohio with i forget who but we played 11-5 one pocket i like dthe game alot and wanted to get the bet right before i beat him i think we were playing like 50-100$ a game, wich back then in pol was a decent bet, but i didnt win knowing that at a later time i could get same game and bet more.

Fast foward a few months and there is a tourny in Olathe Kasas, i decide its time for me to take a trip there so i grab my bank roll all like 6k of it, jump on pla ne to kansas and make my way to the pool room where they are having tournny and just kinda mull around. Finally we get a game for 500 a game and my plan is to win 2 lose one and make the game go back and forarth for a wile using my mouth to agrovate him, and parley my winnings as we go.

Well we start playing and im loosing, i dont understand it, i remember missing a ball i would never miss, i felt like someone drugged me but they couldnt i only drank out of a bottle i kept the cap on. I of course raised the bet nd he of course obliged we were playing for 800 a game i believe, well before i knew it i was broke, had no money my room was only paid for one more night and i didnt have a plane ticket home, so i cried called a friend back home and they bought me a plane ticket.

I get back home and the next day i head to the poolroom and playa little and still dont feel right, so i sit down in the chair and am talking to a friend after about 30 minutes i black out and have the worste head ake. I end up in he hospital and have 2 brain surgerys. I have an abcess growing on my optical nerve and i lost my peripheal vision. i spent 30 days in hospital, and 4 months of getting ivs 3 times a day before i could even really move again.
My pool career was over i couldnt see any more

Wile i was recovering i started playing poker online and the rest is history!!!!

Viffer found our little pool subforum nice....

Are you done with the big money pool games or just waiting for a better handicap?

How do you think you'd have matched up in your peak with some of the pros you played recently. Like what kind of handicap you think would make it even.

in my peak i played eferen reyes who was at his peek 15-5 one pocket, it was close game.

I played cliff joyner 12-4 and beat him,

i played gabe owens 11-5 and i think i was favorite.

i think i could of played anyone with the 7 break and ball in hand back then, now i just cant see.

I had a pretty good win percentage when i was playing,

Strangely enough, my post was deleted too.
Anyway, very interesting story. ... We tend to take a lot of things for granted until something like that happens in our own lives, or in the life of someone we know. ... Or we're fortunate enough to be exposed to things that remind us just how fortunate we are.
