Greatest Billiard Player of All Time Greatest Billiard Player of All Time

10-22-2012 , 04:32 PM
At the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, UK the World Professional Billiards tournament is currently being played.

In the tournament is the greatest billiard player of all time Mike Russell. He has won 17 World Titles and has amassed every possible trophy available in the game. He is also one of the greatest cueists of all time.

It is rare that a man dominates a sport to such a level that all opponents actually fear playing him.

A living English Billiards legend in action is a sight to behold so I would advise people to try and get down to see him in action.

You can find out more about the Championships on the world billiards website.

I'm curious if people on the forum would prefer to get:

a) 20 English World Billiard titles

or

b) 1 televised 147

People watch English billiards?

Well Mike has made 147's in Snooker, obviously not on TV.

And yes people do watch it...once a year in this country when the World Championship is played.

Unfortunately it has become snookers poor relation but that's only really due to the marketing makeover snooker was given 40 years ago. Billiards is equally difficult as snooker, but the skill is shown in a much more subtle way.

The game is big in India and their players are afforded a life of luxury should they win a title!

India's top billiards players are idolised much like David Beckham is in the UK. They literally live like kings

Either Mike Russell or Steven Henrie.

Although actually Allison Fischer is probably better than both. She was queen of both snooker and 9 ball forever. She can play any type of game and dominate for years and decades. She could probably even beat the men head on, but she should only be evaluated compared to them based on her play against her own gender vs them against their own gender, and on that she is the clear GOAT.

I mean credit where it's due she's easily one of the top female players of all time and a real pleasure to watch play, but she literally wouldn't break the top thousands list against the men. She'd need a spot vs higher tier shortstop men.
