When I originally taught myself to play, i'd play left v right hand, and got to a reasonable level playing left-handed (best break in snooker - 24, and a couple of break-outs in 8 ball - not many though) I stopped when I no longer had a table more than 10 years ago though.

I recently had surgery on the wrist of my bridge hand and need to keep it completely immobile for 6 weeks, BUT I can grip a cue with hand, so I decided to try and dust off the old skills.

I tried again for the first time in a double elimination tournament last week, and after about 10 frames I started to get a rhythm together again, and managed to get through a couple of rounds with some luck against weaker players. Problem was I had nothing resembling power, touch (attempting slow roll-ins was quite embarrassing), and a very average bridge.

I've never been a drill guy, and i'm looking for drills specifically to build either cue-power or touch shots that aren't going to bore me to death.

Any suggestions?

Might sound odd, but practicing stun run through shots is probably the best for this type of improvement. Table length they require a ton of power, short distance they require equisite touch and timing, and are really useful shots that are vastly harder than they look.

Best part is that you can brainlessly slam easy balls into pockets while you do it, which is always fun

^what is stun run?

think i saw it on here but i like playing a game called ghost. rack 10 balls and shoot til you miss. once you miss the ghost runs out.

good game to keep stats on and track your improvement.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRybs9jh89k is a decent video for stun-run through.

I like the idea of using that shot to build up.

Knocked in a 23 on Monday night with 7 balls, was really quite happy. I recommend it to everyone. Missing playing left handed doesn't phase me anywhere near as it does with my right, and i'm that much happier when they go in.
