On Saturday I'll get a chance to meet and play against Alison Fisher at our APA Regionals tournament (Last year it was Mike Massey). Any ideas on questions to ask her, provided I get the time to ask her any? I thought about asking her what she does to keep herself focused on final shots to end a match. I've had a few 8 ball shots missed in bigger tournaments to end it and may need some pointers.

How did it go?

I got to be first on the list for a game which was nice. Missed a tough slow carom shot off one of her balls in the corner by just a hair and left myself perfect for the 8. She ran her last three out to finish. Got her to 3 or 4 innings by just playing smart (luckily it was a tough table off the break) but the best part was her personality. She's a very likable person and has no problem talking a little smack, all in fun! She kept everyone laughing and having a good time even as she handed them one loss after another (my captain was able to get ball in hand on the 8 though to win after her shot nicked off another ball to send the cueball into the corner). Another teammate had his second opportunity to get a game against her. The first time was in Vegas a few years ago but he waited too long to sign up. This time, she broke and ran. Two opportunities and he has yet to shoot a single shot, lol!

I didn't get to really ask her any advice though as I couldn't stay long due to another commitment and when she first showed up it was obviously fairly busy.

Met her at ISU around 2004, when our college side when there for an acui match, and she was doing an exhibition. She was playing frames against kids whose names got picked out of a hat, and my friend was trying to shark her by shouting stuff during her shots. Then his name got picked, he broke, she ran out until the 9 and intentionally missed it such that she left it in the middle of the end rail, cue ball frozen to the other one. Then cleaned up when he missed.

She was pretty awesome.
