I thought I caught a couple of those eps and thought it was bad, like 2 and a half men bad

Maybe I'm thinking of a diff show?...

Starts off pretty average but gets really good imo. Stories are super generic but the dialogue is top notch

The old flashback episode. Tone of the show seems to have taken a sea change in these last 2 episodes.

This is what I meant about the change in tone. In the earlier episodes the flawed characters were presented without apology, flying around in their dysfunctional glory. I thought that worked very well. In the last 3 episodes they're drawing back and grounding it more. I don't think this new tack is working quite as well.

It does seem to make sense that they would get another season. I don't know how all of that works, but I think they will. Hopefully "Married" will get another as well. But it's an easy pick if only 1 can be renewed.

SofA is ending, "Partners" seems to have failed, "Anger Management" as well. The Bridge is in limbo. I have mid-high hopes.
