My comment was re: Mork and Mindy, not Louie.

I just knew Nina's feet were going to be somewhat of a deal breaker for Jimmy.

I didn't like the way they turned Nina into a texting psycho over such a short period of time. I realize they had to speed up events to fit the scene into a 30 minute show, but that still seemed forced.

When I first saw that rag in the gas tank, I legit thought Nina was going to torch the car.

Yes? I'm sure you can critique Abbey Road even though you're an idiot and probably 20.

master3004,

I agree that there were some moments, specifically with Jimmy's "who dis?" text. But the focus on Gretchen's sickness is both tautological and not entertaining (enough). The writing on the show is good enough that I like it, but there's not enough depth or caring that I want to watch Gretchen moping for a month's worth of episodes.

Not even close to the same thing. I would wager that fewer than 1% of people under 40 would get the Mork and Mindy reference.

The Edgar character is so awful. Did Mork and Mindy happen to kill off any **** characters at the end of season 2?

I'm totally onboard with Edgar hate.

It depends on what story you are looking for them to tell. The season is about Gretchen having this severe, untalked about disease, and Jimmy trying to figure out how to cope with this thing that everyone thinks one can "just get over." Including Jimmy himself. He's been taught that depression is something you can just buck up against and expects Gretchen to just snap out of it by helping her have a fun day or sending a parade of her friends at her. He finally starts to get it right at the end of this episode, and it's heartbreaking to see Gretchen come to the realization that she really isn't alone.

A 30 minute comedy that can make me well up with tears has to be telling a story correctly somewherw.

Speaking of the parade of friends scene, Sam dropping the name of all the people he knows with depression only to learn they all committed suicide , even Boner, is ****ing fantastic.
Well sure, if you're interested in them telling the story of Gretchen's depression then the story of Gretchen's depression is interesting. But tautologies aside, I'm saying that I don't think it's interesting. It's fine that other people like it though.

It's not fine if other people like Edgar though. They're just wrong.

Been meaning to watch this show for a while and finally started yesterday. Had to start with Season 2 since I don't have Hulu, but wow. This show is really damn good. I knew I should have listened to Greenwald a while ago.

Cant wait to go back to Season 1 later on.

^^^This is basically what I was getting at. Mork and Mindy is a pretty dated cultural reference, much less specifically referring to season 2 of Mork and Mindy as if that is some sort of universally known...something.

They completely took him from the funny homeless PTSD vet he was on S01 to this "I wuv you" track. Really strange. Would've maybe worked if all the other characters were addressing it and making fun of him, but instead his character arc consists of this mini non-issues that are resolved in 30 second conversations with the improv girl.

It feels like the writers write the episode and then have an oh **** moment where they remember Edgar is a character so they throw in some BS last minute story service to him.

I will miss this show in the off season. If it makes me a little sad when a season ends for a show, they must be doing it right.

Such a great episode and great season. The heart this show has reminds me of Parks and Rec and Happy Endings.

Paul is way too good for Lindsay, kinda hated that part of it. Song was obv. great though, they both sing great!

This show is too good. I know there was some discussion on "best sitcom since Arrested Development" in another thread, and this show is on the short list!!

That was a ****ing great half-hour of TV. The karaoke duet at the end was perfect. Just really great.

It's got me wondering if the less-stellar episodes with Gretchen's depression led to that. Jury is still out but it's got me thinking.

I echo the finale being great. It had a strong feeling of "we're not sure if we're gonna get another season" to it, though. Great to know we have!

Gretchen was "fixed" a bit too hastily compared to all the prolonged agony of the preceding episodes. Vernon still sort of awesome. Not overly sure what to make of Lindsay's reaction at the moped, I guess a big disappointment, awakening to the reality she'd lived through with him in the past? Edgar is such a dummy, come on that's like deep autism level stupidity to just dump your gf because your friend who's "2nd level drunk" says something to that effect.

Great finale. I rate this show lower than others, but definitely glad they got a third season. They cleaned up the writing of Lindsay's character a lot during this season and other supporting characters pulled their weight.

Just finished marathoning with the gf.

Overall, we loved it.

We were not fans of how the depression arc was handled, very 1-dimensional.

Gf thinks Lindsay is the funniest person ever, neither of us are high on Edgar. Very much a caricature.

I think the show is at its best whenever the main characters are making fun of the traditional customs society tolerates and pushes/promotes just because they are, in fact, traditions. Similar to what master of none did.

Good work fsoyars
