I just watched the pilot, I'm ****ing loving this. It's hard but it's not too mean or nonsensical.

I think it's pretty hilarious.

This show's a weird mix of its freshest elements (the hilariously dark humor, the emotional moments that are poignant yet still surprisingly subversive of what the usual sitcom resolution would be) working really well, but when the show kind of 'succumbs' so to speak of standard sitcom conventions it actually turns me off way more than if a brainless sitcom did so.

That said, the two leads are pretty damn good considering how they're both relative unknowns. Supporting characters are still rough/undeveloped (the kid and Gretchen's friend are still mostly useless), although I like the route they took with Jimmy's roommate and his PTSD/heroin addiction in tackling it in such an uncomfortable, head-on way that it kind of circles around and becomes funny again.

Overall I'm definitely going to keep watching, but I'm more tentatively hopeful that the show gets beyond its flaws and hones in on the good stuff rather than being genuinely confident that it can actually pull it off - I'd be disappointed but not super surprised if the show never quite figures out what it's supposed to be.

I've watched all 4 episodes now, my favorite new comedy in years.

Man, I thought it was as strong as the others. That thing on day-drinking was hilarious for instance.

The great theme, which couldn't possibly fit the show better:

Liked them all so far, but probably in descending order. I hope it doesn't go all inbetweeners.

Also I would never have even heard of it if it wasn't for this thread (like Nathan for you - which is awesome!).

So random thank you to all OP's of new stuff that's good.

Stephen created it. He and Matt were both EPs on Weeds.

5th episode was ok. Maybe a little too nicey nice. Several good lines as always. I wonder if the 2 friends might end up having an affair, since the chubby one isn't happy with her husband.

I liked it quite a bit. Glad the hipster plot played out that way. That aspect annoyed me till the end. Rest was good. Aya gets my vote for Ms OOT noms this year.

Based on the title, I'm guessing those 2 "Break Bad" a little too.

Tomorrow night's episode is very special as it was written by a 2p2er. Make sure you check it out.

This is a wonderfully fresh comedy and pairing it with Married makes it my favorite night of comedy on TV right now

bad people suddenly play nice and get conventional. yawn.

would have been much more fun/interesting if they kept doing whatever the **** they want and it still worked out. probably tougher to write.

Show is terrific. For a show without a soul it has a lot of heart. Feels like the spiritual successor to Don't Trust the B
