a few episodes later McNulty (has to be the smartest guy in the room) uses the word in a way that would make Gus proud:

Rookie: "The guy stinks."
Jimmy: "Yea he probably evacuated."
Rookie: "What, he left and came back?"
Jimmy: "No, he sh*t himself."

the police department is all about chain of command.

I will take a crazy shot and it wasn’t actually BroMo they feared, but the Muslim Brotherhood who ran things on the inside. He was their guy. Maybe he kicked up but if u xxxx w him any family friends on the inside (&#128175 get killed. If u end up locked up (almost &#128175 u get killed

The Duece on HBO is decent enough as is. Watching at least 4 of The Wire’s characters made it awesome for me. Chris was incredible and Slim Charles cooler than ever .

Never thought of this and always questioned why Brother Mike was so feared and got a "pass." I imagine the Muslim Brotherhood is not to be messed with. Probably would have added to the fear of the Brotherhood if they had Stringer's DC contract killer for D'Angelo be affiliated with the MB.

Pointless bump but since I have a few weeks left on my HBONow subscription, I figured I was overdue for a rewatch.

This show really does get better and better over time!!

After 1 viewing:

S1>S4>S3>S2>S5

Although, I did probably watch S1 through S4 at least 2x before S5 came out.

After a 2nd watch, S1=S4>S2=S3>S5

10+ years later I've arrived at S3>S1>S4=S2>S5

Watched the series 12+ times.

S3 = S1 > S4 > S2 = S5

S5 ending is very strong and underrated.

Season 5 kinda sucked but the final episode was the greatest final episode ever made and maybe the greatest television episode ever made. Wrapped up absolutely perfectly.

I still think its 4>>3=1>2>5, but the final episode is great. As good as the finale was, I still prefer BB's finale and while I'd have to revisit, I remember thoroughly loving Justified's finale too.

The fact that S5 of Wire is still last shows the quality of the show. It had its flaws, but man that was still some incredible television.

There's a podcast. I just found out about it, but I don't think it's new. Each episode of the podcast disccuses one episode of The Wire.

The podcast gave me a good excuse to start another re-watch.
That being said, the podcast is rather mediocre and gets a bit repetitive after a while, not sure every episode needs its own podcast.

I learned from the podcast this little bit of trivia:
Only one police officer, Prez, ever fires his gun on the show and in all three cases it is a mistake.
I've never noticed that before since there're several times that cops draw their guns but they in fact never shoot.

I've only listened to the prologue episode and to season 1, episode 1 (the pilot). I'm not wild about the hosts of the cast, but I love The Wire so much I'll probably soldier on for a while.

I can only recall 2 instances of Prez firing his gun. In the first season, he fires it at the wall when he's showing off to Herc and Carver how light his trigger is. And then later in the show he shoots a fellow officer who he thought was a suspect.
