Re: THE WIRE (discussion)

Best thing about the Wire is the amount of great characters. Bodie is one of my favorites for sure.

In no particular order:

- Bodie
- Omar
- Wee Bey
- Stringer
- Prop Joe

Re: THE WIRE (discussion)

I'm pretty sure Bodie was a fave for a lot of people in the last thread. Dude was a beast and an awesome character. I'm surprised we havn't seen him in any new HBO shows as they have been using a ton of The Wire actors as well as people from other shows.

My fave reuse of an actor has to be the guy that played Chris in the Wire, went from hardcore killer to now he's a poofy haired fancy dressing pimp in The Deuce.

He was in *The Night Of* but that's it for HBO shows.

He was in an episode of the Sopranos also. He was one of the truck robbers.

I’m currently rewatching about to start s4. Forgot how stupid/farfetched Hampsterdam storyline was. Forgot about this too:

am i the only one that likes michael? a whole season of keeping kids off the streets and hes the one that goes against it. not gonna let anyone think hes shook.

i think omar deserves more love too, so many scenes and plots revolve around him and despite being the ultimate villain of the game, he plays each one cool (except the scene with bunk which has been mentioned a lot elsewhere). the tie scene/ court trial is great. and who cant love his poker reference?

Hamsterdam wasn’t far fetched at all. It was based off a Baltimore mayor who had the idea of legalizing all drugs back in the 90’s. Here we are in 2018 with heroin safe zones in numerous cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Hamsterdam also kind of like Skid Row in Los Angeles.

The idea isn’t far fetched I just meant how Bunny was able to get everyone on board and how long it took for someone to tell on him. In reality I’d imagine much more pushback from a large group of police officers. Even if no one wanted to out him immediately for GP someone would certainly be tempted to do so in order to gain favor with their superiors/further their careers etc. The fact that they carried out such a large scale operation without word getting out is stupid/far fetched imho.

Re: THE WIRE (discussion)

In s3 Bunny Colvin speaks the line that rings true even today:

"The war on drugs ruined this job."

Perfect commentary on why the public/police relationship in the US has gone bad.

Brodie is forty irl.
Top five : Omar, Clay Davis, Boris, Slim C ,Stringer
Not low : Ziggy, Nick, Frank, The Greek, Ziggy

How was it that PropJoe and the east side ran smoothly w very little street violence but the west was like the Middle East.

they never really mentioned it either way, as the story was focused on west side. afaik the only mention was "walmart" and marlo dropping people for them all over east side (also alluded to in opening vacants for bodies)

saying frank and the Greek are among the 5 worst characters in the show is LOL wrong. Frank is the character that represents what season 2 is about. A dying union and blue collar class who gets swallowed up by politicians for their own personal gain and other outside forces.

Re: THE WIRE (discussion)

I liked Bubbles as a character, like, he was really well written. But he suffered so much **** that I couldn't stand it anymore by the end. I got more enjoyment out of characters like Rawls or Davis. SHIIIIIIIIIET

can't recall who's Boris tho. I've only watched the whole thing once.

edit: k just checked youtube. can't really remember any standout scenes with him so I can't say he's one of my faves.
