4 and 9 being really good doesn't prove the season was good. it actually does the opposite by illustrating what actually works (hint: it's usually human backstories, humans talking to each other, or interesting AI concepts), in contrast to the remaining 7 episodes that were largely comprised of the least interesting action scenes in history.
it's a totally reasonable opinion to think S2 mostly sucked.
I responded to posts that said "this season is trash. honestly couldnt have been more boring." "it was a terrible season." "Humans >>> Westworld"
Those posts are wrong.
S2 had a couple of the best episodes of the entire series, a couple good episodes, and a couple solid episodes. Even if the remaining episodes were bad, that doesn't justify the trashing that S2 has gotten itt. It's just an overreaction to the bad parts that completely discounts the good to great parts.
Even most of the bad episodes had good parts, often flashbacks or views into other parks or the world beyond Westworld. The hosts pitching Logan, William pitching James, Delores/Logan, William/Delores flashbacks, the whole special project reveal bit-by-bit even outside of E4, Grace & the Raj, the Cradle & digital Ford, all Hopkins scenes, etc etc.
There were enough good and great parts that it was a good season. The haters who focus on the action scenes while ignoring the good ones are just cherry picking the bad parts. It would be as if I completely ignored the action/bad parts and said "S2 GOAT TV season of all time! Of all time!" Well, no, it wasn't, but it did have some great episodes, some good ones, and averaging everything out, was net positive. Or at minimum, not the trash that others are proclaiming it to be.
