'Westworld' remake - possible new HBO series 'Westworld' remake - possible new HBO series

I just saw the trailer for this a few minutes ago. I have zero knowledge of "the original" so it's all new to me and it looks like it has a ton of potential. I just worry they will try to stretch it out. I feel like things like this should have a set beginning and an end, not a "Well, we're getting cancelled, better wrap it up this season"

The last trailer sold me. I'm not familiar with the movie so I had no idea what it was about, but the recent trailer did a good job of explaining the show.

I'm getting a vibe that the show will be amazing or terrible - no room for in between. Hoping for the former, as I'm a big fan of the original movie.

Jonathan Nolan did a great job on Person of Interest, especially with creating an intricate world. But the writers/director of The Night of were nominated for 5 Oscars for screenwriting with 2 wins...

That was dope. Still trying to figure out Ed Harris's role. He's obviously a "visitor" but what does he want?

I have not seen the movie, if that makes a difference, but the first episode did not hold my interest very well. The previews looked really good so I'm hoping I'm wrong.

It has tons of potential. Loved the music and the versions of Black Hole Sun and Paint it Black.

thought the first episode was good, not great. i think a lot of the corporation people give off a "architect from matrix reloaded" conversational vibe thats a little off/irritating, like they have to deliver every line with this "secret shady government bad guy" dialogue.

certainly has potential to be great.

louis herthum played the dad, amazing job, i thought he carried that episode along with ed harris

The corporation guys all seem unnecessarily smarmy and untrusting and conspiratorial to me. I also can't figure out whether Ed Harris is a guest or a host. He seems like a guest, only because he couldn't be harmed in the gunfight with a host. But guests already know that hosts are robots, so the scene at the end where he slices up the host and figures out he's a robot makes no sense.

I don't mind violence or sex or profanity, but much of each in that episode seemed gratuitous. I'll watch another episode or two but so far this isn't great. The idiot that was pouring milk in dead people's mouths just seemed dumb.

not sure how we're doing spoilers yet but

Spoiler:
i think its pretty clear that ed harris is a guest, or at least the directors want us to think that. the guns not killing him sorta spells that out. also hosts have their memories rebooted every day yet harris knows all these people very well. harris scalping the host and finding some kind of symbol or map (wanting to find another level in the world) says to me he is super VIP/rich player of this game and he wants to be the westworld equivalent of the first guy in mario64 to get all 120 stars

Gee I wonder if keeping all the crazy defective robots in storage rather than destroying them will come back to bite them in the ass later...

I'm thinking he's gotten bored with being a villainous guest in the scripted world and is trying to go meta-villain and take over the entire park, figure out how the robots work, intentionally screw with it.

Just a theory.
