I could be wrong.
I'm not sure, but I feel like they ran with the originals too. Although I'd just graduated high school when I started watching West Wing (Season 1 Finale - pretty great episode to start with) so that was a little while ago.

The way I remember, the final scene would cut to the producers titles and then fade to commercial. The music/credit sequence would then play upon return.

It didn't have the same sudden impact it does on the DVD's.

the music/credit sequence was always after a commercial and usually didn't have the music because it went to split screen with ads for whatever other nbc show was coming up

Yeah, that's how I recall it. No music, no still photo, just credits on black while a commercial ran or the next show started.

Oh, and:

I think that episode is my favorite of the show. The mix of everything with Ainsley and the plot with President Nimbala is so well done.

I was relieved to hear Leo correctly pronounce the capital of New Hampshire during "Bartlet for America"...as opposed to Governor Bartlet, who butchered it in "What Kind of Day Has It Been".

(It's "KONKerd", not "konKORD".)

Ran outta shows to watch, so rewatching season 1 right now. Greatness.

Cracks me up every time.

(Toby enters his office. His ex-wife, Congresswoman Andrea "Andy" Wyatt, is already inside, ready to pounce on him.)

ANDY: I don't get how you can do this without consulting people!

TOBY: (sarcastically) Come on in.

ANDY: I don't get how you think you could...

TOBY: We consulted plenty of people! What do you think, Sam and I create foreign policy around here?

ANDY: I don't know. You, Sam? Abbott, Costello?

TOBY: We brought in, for three weeks, we brought in...

ANDY: Did you bring in anybody from State?

TOBY: Yes.

ANDY: Who?

TOBY: The Secretary of State!

His speech at the end of their discussion is pretty good too.

I don't usually watch the episodes in full anymore, since it's become my one and only sleeps show, but one scene that rings out from the first season is when Leo first says "I am a recovering alcoholic and drug addict..." and the cameras all go apesh*t. I really like the way that is done.

Haha, I think that was the beginning of S4? The one where they had the timezone issue? The rant upon finding out they were an hour behind was awesome.
