Noel (as well as Two Cathedrals) I skip for my sleeping marathons. I focus too much on it and can't sleep. That's a compliment, BTW.

Great show. I didn't start watching it until I got the DVDs for seasons 1-4 and then I watched most of the final two seasons as they aired. The opening scene in the pilot of Leo/John Spencer walking into the West Wing all cranky instantly hooked me. With most shows it takes several episodes before I warm up to them.

After watching a few episodes I remember thinking about how similar the tone was to Sports Night even though one was a 'sitcom' and the other a drama. Yeah, I was oblivious to the fact that both were from the same guy.

Easily one of TV's GOAT's. Re-watch it all the time and its just incredible how well the characters compliment each other

I am currently rewatching this, first season down. I have tried to rewatch other tv shows recently but quickly stopped, realizing there wasn't much more I was getting from them. That I had gleaned out of them about as much as was available the first time through. But not with this show.

It may be in part because I went through it the first time so quickly, hooked on it like some drug addled junkie. Or it may be because it is simply so good there IS a lot more to get, to appreciate. The likely answer I believe, a bit of both.

Season 2 here we go.

...which I guess makes me Deputy Deputy Chief of Staff.

Spoiler:

That always kills me.

I just finished watching the series. I marathon'd the whole thing in about 3 weeks, and it has immediately risen to the top of my "all time best TV shows ever" list.

I agree that seasons 1-4 + 7 >>> 5 & 6, but they were still really good.

I literally just finished the final episode about 10 minutes ago and I'm already ready to start all over again.

+1 to missing Rob Lowe in the later seasons. I was always hoping for him to come back (which he did, and I cheered when he did, but it was for such a small role it was a bit disappointing).

God. Such a good show. I'm rambling. But my god.

Josh Lyman is an alltime greatest character. Same with Leo, The Prez, Toby, CJ ... the whole fricking cast

Noel > The Two Cathedrals for me. Both deeply moving, but found Noel, everything about how it was made to be, at a loss for words, beautiful.

My first exposure to TWW was (a totally out of context) Rob Lowe ranting and raving about the Klan and Guns. I only watched a few minutes and even though I could tell the production value, writing, and acting were all top notch it was just too much for me. Luckily a few years later I stumbled upon a rerun on Bravo (the Toby/dead homeless vet ep from s1) and I was hooked. NF'd the entire series in a month or so, and I've watched it 4 or 5 times since. Easily my favorite show and I love The Wire and The Sopranos.

Seasons 1-3 can't be topped, but I find the non-Sorkin years to be underrated, especially s5.

I'm rewatching Season One this week, fully appreciating Rob Lowe for the first time. I guess I always found him overshadowed by the immense talent around him, but he's just as good as anyone else in that cast imo.

Except John Spencer. He's even better than I remember him.

BARTLETT: Charlie wants to go out with Zoey.

LEO: (huge smile)

BARTLETT: Shaddup!

The cast is so good that whenever I'm flipping channels and come across any of them in anything, I stop and watch to the end.

Oh, now I'm pissed!

I've been watching Season One all week. Now I pop in Disc 3, and it's somehow damaged beyond redemption.

Grrrrrrr......

Ok so where can I get updates on the new HBO show? I don't even know if it's a sure thing yet...I need my Sorkin fix.

Completely agree. In those early eps, he didn't shine quite as much, but the delivery of lines like:

"A Birthday message, Mallory"

...reminds me that he was great throughout.

the pilot script is out there if you really can't wait. several magazines have done lil reviews.

http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment...ot_its_ju.html

yeah people are saying it's pretty much classic sorkin and its fantastic. i googled more as the story develops and it lead me to tumblr and people were posting excerpts from the script they liked it so much (where the above pic is from). if you want the entire script i'm sure you can find it unless you are crappy at the internet.

Watching Sports Night for the first time, and I LOVE how he incorporates rants into his writing. Blasting on Jerry Fallwell etc. Can't WAIT to see how this show goes.
