Reading the medical chart for Cal, it seems pretty clear that Dr. Manhattan did not put Veidt on Jupiter moon. He's been there for seven years, but Manhattan became Cal ten years ago. Almost certainly has to be Trieu. Guessing she got rid of him as he would have tried to block some plan of hers (Lindelof likes parallels to the original, and this would track with Veidt getting Manhattan to Mars so he wouldn't block his plan).

Yeah that was the thing that struck me as well, that they'd been together that long. Would fit with Trieu controlling the phone booths and all too. She seems to have a connection with all the key players from the books. Curious to see where/how/why she fits into all of it.

I guess Cal changing his name would be the biggest clue that something strange was going on.

Someone noticed that Cal was reading "Things Fall Apart". And we all know that book titles are significant in Lindelof works. This is prob Manhattan's way of learning about the black experience.

I really love this show. Angela knew about Cal all along? What the **** is going on lmao.

If its anything like Lost, it will all fall apart into an unsatisfying mess, but I'm enjoying it right now.

Well I doubt it's anything like Lost cuz I thought Lost was lame from the get go and apparently I was right judging by the reactions to the ending. Meanwhile this is an awesome and very creative show. I kinda wanna compare it to Game of Thrones. I knew nothing about the source material really and it's like some alternate universe with phenomenons that don't exist in our world.

they've been showing that statue of veidt for so long I'm starting to believe he's inside it somehow.

he was also reading for whom the bell tolls, and I haven't read it but it seems like it's connected to manhattan's future, considering he knows he's about to die and angela is trying to change that. (next ep preview)

But his last series, The Leftovers, ended in a way that elevated all that happened previously.

They’re in a tough spot here. I don’t know that they can satisfactorily create a scenario where the 7th can believably take down a God. Why couldn’t he stop that teleportation device? He seemed to know about it all in advance. Couldn’t he just make the entire 7th disappear with a snap of his finger. I feel like he’s awesome in concept, but impossible to write.

Only explanation I can think of is it needed to happen for w/e reason.

If anyone missed it there’s a bonus scene after the credits. Don’t bother searching for any others in previous episodes there aren’t any.

That was an all time great episode of television. That was on the level of The Leftovers finale. I’ve read a few critic reviews of this episode and it’s 10/10, 5/5, 5 stars, A, across the board.

Apparently, he was declared missing in 2012 but has actually been gone for much longer. And who would have guessed that Veidt was very willingly imprisoned.

I'm digging it...the only explanation for Dr. M allowing his death t happen is that is "needed," as another has said.

And I loved when Angela realized she may have cause Judd's death with the time paradox question to her grandfafther 10 years before.

One review makes a nice comparison to Lindelof's previous show, Lost, and how Desmond finally getting "unstuck in time" leads him to Penny.

Guys, The Constant was 12 freakin' years ago. I can't believe it's been that long.

I've been really enjoying the show so far, but have a couple of (nitty) issues with this past ep:

1) I thought Dr M just looked weird. Honestly preferred the movie version. Seemed like there wasn't much CGI. I didn't really care for the action scene at the end either. Not going to complain about white supremacists getting blown to pieces though.

2) I understand that Dr M doesn't have "free will", but his storyline still feels so contrived. You can't really complain about his actions since he technically doesn't control them.

#2 really depends on how the finale plays out so might be silly to complain about that now. Dr M mentioned that Angela needed to pay attention to him walking on water and that he can transfer his power organically(?) if someone eats something he made?

The non-linear storytelling was some of the best I've seen. Really well done.

got kindv a jesus feeling from Dr M letting himself be "crucified" when he clearly could have defeated the 7K had he so choosen.

Agreed. Given his desire to be human again, it would make sense that he wants all that comes with being human, including being mortal.

Seems pretty obvious he let it happen because it already happened.

he doesn't experience time that way.
it's not that he's seen it happen already and therefore knows it coming it's just that he experiences all of time simultaneously so in the same moment he's telling her it's going to happen it's happening (as well as at the same time he's meeting her and every other moment in their relationship/his life etc).

Dr Manhattan is like a character in a book, who has read the book, but he's still just a character in the story. Just because he's read the end doesn't mean he can change the words

I was expecting a major cliff hanger tomorrow, but this might be just one season unfortunately:

It never seemed like a 1 season show to me, idk I figured more would have happened by now if that was the case.
