I feel like the amount of people on 2+2 still watching this dwindles every season but still worth a thread IMO.

So the first episode of season 9 aired Sunday night, I actually thought it was pretty decent and felt more like the earlier seasons. It was a good balance of character development while not being too boring and enough action to keep it mildly entertaining. Daryl actually getting some dialogue also, I guess that's in preparation for Rick's death. Finally that POS Gregory is gone. Maggie is turning into one cold b*tch - though seeing your husband getting his brain bashed in would do that to you I suppose.

Anyone still watching and what did you make of it?

Nah, he's right, even if it's just to crap all over the show.

The first episode sucked, probably the worst season opener of that show period.

I honestly don't care anymore if arguably stupid characters do way too dangerous and stupid things but if Rick and all his group of leaders risk everything to get a plow, a boat and a horst carriage, I'll figuratively slap my forehead.

Then I was made to believe that a glass floor that is DESIGNED to hold many many people walking over and standing on it every day is getting instabile AS a WHOLE by one body and a couple of stones collapsing on it? I just didn't buy it.
When they saw and heart the cracks of that floor they kept walking over it for a boat, a plow and a effing horse carriage.

Maybe those parents were right and that whole mission was a total failure from the get go and they should be ashamed of themselves. His whole death felt very constructed and felt very very avoidable.

My main problem at this point is that I don't have any emotional connection to any characters that were introduced past maybe season two or three, therefore, any death feels very meh.

The one acceptable part of the episode was the Gregory/Maggie conflict which in my opinion had some potential where Gregory could've kept drawing strings in the background to undermine her but unfortunately that got resolved with very diminished payoff.

I haven’t watched in ages but was just reminded of the show when I read about AMC’s stock tumbling and some analysts switching their outlook from “neutral” to “sell” after the season premiere drew almost 50% less viewers than last years first episode. That’s a pretty crazy drop.

And that's with them advertising Rick's last days. I thought last season was so pathetic that it couldn't even be hate-watched anymore, even half-paying attention while on the computer, so I was going to quit. Then I thought, well, I guess I've gone this far so I might as well see how Rick dies. But after seeing how awful the first episode was, I don't think I can wait it out. Now, if it were all the writers being killed, I'd stick around to watch that.

This episode wasn't really good obviously, but let's face it, it wasn't worse than anything we've watched for YEARS as far as TWD goes.

I don't see why anyone that kept watching through The Governor arc would quit now. Show is mediocre, but it's been this way for what, 8 seasons ?

Oh and tbh, the episode that sees Gregory gone can't possibly be that bad.

One of my closest friends still loves this show. Everytime he talks about it in a glowing light..... it's just hard to be his friend in that moment lol. I'm kinda pysched about Rick dying as my buddy told me yesterday. I think I might tune into that just to see how it happens. Probably just watch it on Youtube tho to skip all the boring show BS. I'd have to imagine watching the commercials is more entertaining than this tired ass show.

It's going to be hilarious when Rick just goes missing or something only to return like 5 seasons from now.

I think he dies on screen, I've heard rumors about how it happens and it sounds good. I think Episode 5 is when it all goes down.

Why do they need a 200 year old covered wagon exactly? And a 200 year old dugout canoe, with no seats or oar handles or anything remotely useful?

Just go to a sporting goods store - I'm sure there are plenty of modern canoes you can get.

I watched all of season 1 and liked the show. I watched the premiere of season 2 and hated it and haven't watched since lol. Not sure I've ever been turned off from a series so quickly.

Did they ever say how the apocalypse happened between the time Rick was taken to the hospital and Rick waking up in zombieland? That would be the only thing that might draw me back in, though tbh I'd rather someone just spoil it for me.

That 1st episode was so brutal. How did the kid trying to free the horses get bit by a zombie? One second the zombies are a decent distance away then cut to a different angle and ninja zombie is on the kid?
