Very cool... I can't decide if this show is a guilty pleasure or if it's actually really good. Either way I'm in for the ride and glad it's back.

They told their daughter Paige, she told Pastor Tim. Philip also outed himself to Martha as at least some kind of spy.

Did they show anything between Martha and Philip after the reveal? I don't remember her initial reaction.

She already knew he wasn't what he claimed he was, based on the investigation about the bug. He finally stripped off his wig to reveal he was definitely not "Clark". She sat silently iirc as she knew she got played and, as the one who planted the bug, she was never getting off clean. Plus not being not so bright and maybe still attracted to Clark...

I remember that, but never anything between them after that until tonight's episode. Feels like there should have been more in between.

It does feel like a quick transition, but at the same time, what else is Martha going to do? I think it was a good character moment for both when Philip revealed his childhood experience killing that bully. Just the right balance of drama, believability, emotion. Makes sense he could confess to her what he couldn't to the EST group.

This show is so good.

Might be a good call. Too early now, but could see it being the season climax of they can extend that narrative long enough.

I love this show, but I hope it ends with season five. Just can't imagine it sustaining itself past that.

I feel myself drifting away from this show, not feeling it at all this year.

It may be forced, but the way they set it up, I am looking forward to a nice, Pastor Tim beatdown.

I think Pastor Tim, also a spy, reports to Gabriel.

It's possible he doesn't completely believe her, or doesn't want to ruin her life.

eh. confidentiality or whatever plus his super strong relationship with paige

could be enough for it to at least wait a short period of time

i would agree that he'd def report it within 1-2 weeks though. they can't leave this thread open all season; it needs to be resolved in the next couple episodes

plus how does he even report it? its not like he has any evidence. also phillip has physically threatened him before so he could be scared. so its at least somewhat plausible that he wouldn't report it immediately

Pastor Tim is an idiot. Do you really not remember Philip threatening you? Dude is seriously playing with fire. I remember seeing a theory that he's with the Russians, which actually played out somewhat believably in the scene with Paige (almost felt like he was running her in that scene). If that happens, it would be just another misstep in a show full of missteps. Let's hope it doesn't.

Stan is a huge idiot. What a douchebag hypocrite to think that Philip is sleeping with his wife, when he cheated on her (in the name of an op...lol), they're pretty much divorced, and Sandra's moved on. That's not even mentioning that Stan's already sleeping with someone else, and Philip's like, you know, married. I can't stand his twitchface. I remember in season 1 when most thought that was going to be the best character on the show. Oops. Instead, it feels like they're channeling Hank from Breaking Bad, with zero of the inner nuance.

This EST stuff is so dumb. I don't even get why it's there. It's more forced than the Pastor Tim stuff, which is just meant to elevate danger/exposure.

That scene with the bus was so patently ridiculous. The driver is so zoned out he doesn't notice that some guy in the back never got off the bus? Then, when he actually discovers the body, he won't remember anything about the people sitting in the back? It's those kind of logic leaps that prevent this show from ever reaching its potential...sorry.

Maybe it will get better, but this season is off to a yawn worthy start. This should be the last season, no way they can continue to sustain such terrible ratings. While its 18-49 (0.3) stayed the same, it lost almost 200k viewers from the first to second episode. For some reason, I thought this was planned to be the final season anyway, but I don't remember where I heard that.

I always knew they were smoking something over at The Americans, but wow that's some serious delusion to think that FX is going to prop up a show for 2 more seasons that never even deserved to get a second season based on ratings. It won't be their choice for the show to go, it will be FX's. The show is probably not even going to show up on the daily 100 by the end of the season for cable. It's already right at the bottom, and doesn't have much further to drop to fall out of it. I think its ratings have gotten progressively worse season to season, so this isn't really any kind of a surprise.

From personal experience, a spouse who cheats is often insanely jealous when their own spouse moves on. Narcissism.

Its a TV show, try not to dissect it for plot holes, pretty much all TV shows go over the cliff after 4-5 seasons.
