Fellow haters,

Maybe I was still too pumped up from the Astros game, but wow I had little idea wtf was going on. It’s like I missed a whole segment talking about their plans.

For once an episode needed more talking. The indoor storming was only kinda good, the saviors are such a band of redshirts.

By walking dead standards this is probably top 10 goat for the series.

I'm confused what happened at the end though. So that super unforgettable character from Atlanta that you just kneeeew was going to pop up again sometime. He said he called the saviors and it's all done for Rick. Didn't they just put the saviors in check? With all the different places they simultaneously hit they're still guaranteed a loss if reinforcements are called in? Seems like the saviors should be on the ropes.

So is the guy from Atlanta from the episode where that gang runs an old folks home?

IIRC, he was at the original camp where Rick was reunited with his family. Also IIRC, I think the guy and his family parted ways with the rest of the original group when they decided to go to the CDC. I'm not sure about that last part - I just seem to remember some conversation about him not going with Rick and friends somewhere.

Like everyone else, I never would've recognized the guy if Rick wouldn't have clued us in.

OMG a random character from 7 seasons ago is brought back!

90% of this episode was people shooting at each other with nothing happening.
The moment they showed him in more than a passing group shot, you knew he was toast. Patented Walking Dead - kill of a fringe character and think the audience will be all like "OMFG - anyone could die at any time!" Yeah, no.

Dlk,

I’m still not sure who the guy is besides being some guy from Atlanta.

I literally have no idea where they were attacking or what was going on for that entire show, and whether or not they are winning.

Punker,

Ok, here you go:

Jesus, lesbian woman, and Morgan attacked some place. Some group of people there ambushed Morgan and a couple of randoms, but Morgan didn’t die. Other than that they kill a bunch of people and get the rest to surrender.

Rick and Daryl are somewhere else looking for guns. There are only a couple of dudes there, but that’s enough for Rick to get captured by some dude from Atlanta.

The king and carol and the tiger are all going to attack somewhere where it was vital they have element of surprise, but now they don’t, but whatever nbd actually.

Gay dude and his boyfriend are attacking another place. Both sides have unlimited ammunition so they are just going to stick in position shooting constantly at each other and mainly not hitting anything. Gay dude’s boyfriend gets bored and decides to pump up the action a bit and gets shot.

Clear now?

haha. That's the best recap of an episode I've seen in a while.

That's basically exactly my thoughts on the episode. Oh well, it occupied me through two at bats in the world series.

Yeah, the only reason I have any idea who he was is because a) Rick said he was from Atlanta, and b) I re-watched seasons 1-5 with my wife a couple years ago once I was cast in season 6, so the memory of the first season is more recent than it would've normally been. That said, he's as minor of a character as you can get while still being named.

It seems his inclusion is to further Rick's emotional struggle, as he is being confronted with his past and has to reconcile that with what he has become. Might be interesting if anything is done with it in the next episode.

****, I just got way too deep for TWD.

The biggest problem with the episode was that it was confusing. Once I caught on, I enjoyed it, but there was no reason to make it so confusing. Just throw in a few lines of exposition early on - maybe as the different groups start their attacks, there is a flashback/voice over of Rick reviewing the plans. Maybe when Aaron tells someone to keep them pinned in (while the Saviors were trying to flank), quickly mention that his group has them surrounded so they can't escape out a back route. **** like that.

I do like that we were in the dark as to what exactly the ultimate plan was for Aaron's group, as it made the realization that they were going to let dead Saviors turn and create chaos/more death more interesting.

El D,

All I'd add is that I'm pretty sure Rick and Daryl are at the same place as gay dude's group. The lead savior said something about locking the stair wells, hence them climbing an elevator shaft, and then Rick said something about opening up on the courtyard as soon as they find guns.

Was so waiting for Rick to put one in the baby, but I guess he's just going to let that dude he killed turn into a zombie and eat it instead.

Talking Dead referred to them as "Outpost 1" "Outpost 2" etc. But I dont recall the show giving us a map other than 2 seconds of Dwights awful handwriting. So we really didn't know the strategy. Or the tactics of why the redshirts' AR-15s can't hold off a frontal assault.

pretty much this. seems like the fearsome saviors have transformed into stormtroopers and rick's group are the rebels/ewoks. and morgan is the terminator.

i mean the show is silly but it is reaching new unimaginable lows.

ofc I'll still watch and complain because I'm sheeple

Ep02 was the wierdest ep I ever watched period. Tons of fighting and u didn't know what side was the good side in 50% of the encounters , like a fire fight scene am I hoping he dies or not ?

Rick
Season 7 opener: "I'm gonna kill you."
Season 7 finale: "I'm gonna kill you. Nothing is gonna change that."
Season 8 opener: "Hey, there's Negan standing 20 feet in front of me and I'm holding a gun. Let's not kill him."

Recap of the episode

*slow pan shots of the characters*

Come on come on hurry up and get to the story

Huh?

What?

Where is the caravan at? The Saviors' factory? No, not there.

Wait where's Rick at?

Huh? Where's Morgan and Carol at? If they're trying to catch a guy before he gets somewhere why are they at a leisurely stroll pace?

Where are they going?

Oh the outpost! No Jesus you don't be merciful to the guy who just about killed you after you showed him mercy. Maybe some guy who was just following orders and surrendered to you at the first chance but not the guy who went out of this way to piss himself to kill you.

OK where is the caravan at then? Wait where's Rick at? Oh he's close by the caravan. Where's the caravan at?

End of episode

Also the part where the guy says "you know how hard it is to p*ss yourself? It's like your d*ck knows you're wearing jeans" was funny.
