This was exactly my thoughts . Like that bunch of scumbags don't really have any loyalty to Negan . They just do what he says because that way they get to take stuff that they want and bully some people. Shoot Negan and they'll just look at each other like oh he's dead so guess this whole "I am Negan" bs is over . Not saying they'd turn into nice people but without Negan leading them it doesn't look like they'd have much cohesion . Maybe burnface (forgot his name) will try to take over but all the other guys are so far faceless/nameless thugs and I'm not sure they'd jump to take orders from him

With all of those weapons and firepower they would have had a really good chance to fught off negans group. Esp with those fairly strong walls. And ofc they could have spent time building some formidable defenses.

Thing is, when dealing with murderous psychopathes looking to take everything and drive you into servitude well then its obv far better to fight. And in this situation the odds are actually well in your favor.

Except that if Negan really have many more men - which was mentionned in last ep - then he can simply siege Alexandria. Apparently the people there still have to do many runs to get what the town doesn't provide them.

Don't think it would be that hard to cut the town access to water either (?).

I like how Rick is so terrified of hiding stuff from Negan that he's giving up secret guns but is cool with lying about the fact that Maggie is still alive.

also the idea that Rick didn't smash Negan over the head with Lucille when they were in the armory is ridiculous. he was walking behind him and he had the easiest shot ever. if he wants to protect his people cutting the head off the snake is obviously the only long term solution and where we're headed

are we to believe all of Negans henchman are so warped that they would still fight for him after he's dead? all we've seen from Dwight and the guy who was ok dying was that they are all miserable underneath him

Why keep the weapon ledger if you know negan is coming, and hide your top firepower guns? Bottleneck them at the exit and pray and spray.

They had negan and all his buddies in front of the gate all packed up. Sure he came unannounced but they would have wiped exactly everyone out in 2 minutes of crossfire/flank/ effin bazooka if they really wanted to.(as in camping until they came They had weapons of a small army. Ya kill negan and the dudes would probably need to sort out a new leader and during that drop the ball on Alexandria. But nahh. We have to listen to a boring negan monologue for the rest of eternity

well from Rick's POV he has already decided to give in to whatever Negan wants to do, so this (cooking the books) wouldn't jive with that strategy.

edit: and you know how the show could have avoided this atrocity? just by not having the cheap trick of Negan having Rick hold his bat. You'd think that strolling into his town and taking all his guns and medicine and mattresses and taunting them all and having Rick thank him for Negans dicks slide into this throat would have been enough to establish the fact that Rick is now Negans bitch

It doesn't even maker sense that Rick is submitting so easily to Negan. It goes against everything his character has done up until this season.

Also LOL at Negan just showing up like that at what looks to be (and should be) a heavily fortified and armed base after brutally murdering a couple of their residents and taking one prisoner. I made the mistake of going to the Walking Dead sub on Reddit and they say that Negan could exist because brutal warlords and mobsters exist. I doubt those brutal warlords and mobsters would ever leave themselves open for such an easy opportunity to get bazooka'ed out of existence.

Just shows how poorly written it is that Negan would let them go in the first place.

This was a horrible episode and I'm not sure any actor playing Neegan could have saved it.

Something I missed from the most recent episode, but someone posted about on Facebook- They showed that Morse code framed picture on someone's wall, and Daryl used morse code to communicate to Rick that the Savior complex was located 6 miles from the Hilltop.

also, this is nitpick... but when ol' smirk face shows up at their camp (legit forgot name of it) he bangs "Lucille" on the metal bars that fortify the exterior... and they shake like rubber. am i even nitpicking there? did anyone else notice that?

This was VERY annoying. I'm 100% of the time making a stash probably close by to Alexandria, and 100%+ of the time destroying any kind of ledger.

Not so easy to prepare an ambush though, you have no idea who is showing up and when.

-a small group could show up for tribute, and if they don't return then get ready for war.
-you have no idea if Negan will be with them to attempt a cut the head off the snake.
-Saviours have Daryl, if you try something then bye bye Daryl.
-You have literally no idea how many will be showing up so you may not win and even if you do you don't know how many more are coming.
