I kinda liked this for some reason (hated last season). Don't really have anything more to say about that at the moment.

"It's a graveyard" makes me want to bash somebody's head in though.

Oh wait, I do have something, regarding the Lost comparisons. What's odd to me is that you guys despise this and yet think that Lost is (or mostly is) like top 10 ever. Lost has characters just as terrible and dumb, writing just as bad, wistful monologues galore about how we need to keep our humanity by making graveyards and ****, and "survival" behavior and the depiction of a new human society just as banal and unrealistic. I will admit though that Lost does a "better" job at telegraphing exactly what you should be feeling at all times by playing one of several different pieces of music, and the "sad music" often helpfully starts playing before the sad thing even happens.

I'm not arguing for this over Lost, but I don't think they're that far off and I think that you should take some of this thread's criticisms and apply them to Lost if you ever watch it again.

Does this mean you got through Sopranos and like it now, or are you just including Chase so as not to draw suspicion?

Rubbish, Lost had much better characterisation than this because they used flashbacks to show the motivations for what people were doing on island you could understand why characters did what they did even though you couldnt relate to the situation they were now in. Thats why Lost worked. I dont care for any of the characters in The Walking Dead because all we ever see are terrible monologues crying about the ****ty situation they are in or what it used to be like before the zombies. The actors arent good enough to make me invested in their plight and the writing is bad anyway.

Episode 1 was ok imo, I think they focus on that girl too much though... Only thing that sucks is I dont have Sky or FX so I have to wait til it gets leaked online..

I don't like The Sopranos but appreciate that it's very well made. It's just not my cup of tea.

Lost was full of awful awful dumb ****, but it was so well paced you didn't care. Also LOL who thinks Lost is top 10 all time? Maybe on the broadcast networks.

The Walking Dead is SLOW. It's going less than an episode a day.

I mean, somebody said it earlier, but they had a SPECIAL extra long 90 minute premiere here to have an episode where:

1) The primary plot was that a little girl who had (AFAIK) zero lines prior to this episode got lost in the woods.
2) We didn't find the little girl. In 90 minutes!

C'mon bro. It got dark out

They had to that for budget purposes imo.. stalling with the old "it's getting dark - too dangerous to be out there" line. Which is kinda funny imo. Are zombies really any more of a threat at night? Surely you can't see them as well, but you sure as hell would hear them out there in the forest.

I haven't really noticed any animals being around. If there are any, I bet having a dog or two would could in handy.

You haven't noticed any animals?... Seriously?...

Have you really forgotten the worst scene of the series (of any series, ever?) less than a week after viewing?

Boy this post is awful.

Could you hear them? Sure. But when you're running around the forest looking for a girl your chances of bumping into one when you can't see it increase a huge amount. It's way more dangerous.

That aside the reason they stopped at night is because you can't track at night. It is utterly pointless to do so. So they'd be wandering around the forest with zero idea of where they're going. Likely getting themselves lost.

I think this show is as awfully written as a show can get, but waiting till first light to continue the search is one of the only logical things they've done.

There have been several animals shown. If you're gonna slam the show, you gotta pay a little attention at least

Meh Romero's zombie movies as of late have been pretty awful anyways.

And while he was the pioneer of zombie movies I never really liked any of his movies except for dawn of the dead remake which he was only a " writer " in. Then again I'm pretty young and have little appreciation for any old movies.

Frank Darabont has made some really good movies. Shawshank is one of the best of all time. So I'm not sure if he can't transfer his talent to TV shows or if this show was doomed from the beginning. It's pretty common in showbiz from my understanding for executives to get balls deep into the production of shows and absolutely ruin them. With all the huge budget cut's and the quote of the executives trying to make it 50% inside 50% outside I think that's probably the case here.

Series would have been great if Frank were to have directed more than 1 episode.

I agree, Romero is overrated. His 2 best movies were Diary and Dawn. everything else was average imo.

Yea just realized he only actually directed the first episode of the series which was really really amazing.

The rest he was just a writer in. Looks like he's a fantastic director and an atrocious writer.

Was there ever a reason given as to why he only directed the first episode then was relegated to being a writer? That seems awfully ******ed. Especially considering all of franks brilliant work has been via him directing. AFAIK he's never be known for being much of a writer.

Reasonable Person: This show is terrible.

[Phill]: Well, this show wasn't meant to be good, so like, it is relatively a good show considering they weren't trying to make it good.
A reasonable person won't continue to watch a show they think is terrible.

Really? Maybe I missed that part in a daze or somethin.

I guess if they didn't get infected, I'd try to find a few good German Shepherds. They'd be fed good meat, not that dead ****.

I honestly decided to stop watching after the s02 premier, but then I read this thread and some blog that summarizes each ep in a mocking tone. Now I'm just in it for the humor.

False.

There is good comedy in a terrible show. Almost this entire thread has been about making fun of how bad this show is and I for one have enjoyed it.
